Yeah he is a really good actor. He actually did a better Guo Jing than Hu Ge did (don't kill me!)
I love Guo Jing as he is so straightforward and naïve but yes, I think he is too 2 dimensional in that sense. Which Jin Yong's characters do you like?
I guess Hu Ge has the face of smart characters 🤣
I checked out his Guo Jing after Strange Tales and Love in Time as I really like his acting. I think he could pull off a better Yang Kang than that 2017 version.

Lol, I haven't watched the Hu Ge version but I did watch 2017 version as I heard it's the second best after the original 1983 version. I think YXW indeed did capture Guo Jing's naivety well.
If MLCB refers to Mysterious Lotus Casebook then yes, please watch it. It has great dynamics between characters and is also a detective story. The ending is open ending but I think it's much better than the ending for this show which destroys all the happiness the fans had previously.
It is 8.7 at Douban. So rare for historical drama rare that high there.
Indeed. I think because it contains a lot of philosophy and life lessons as well besides the engaging plots. The characters and their dynamics are also excellent.
Not really. The only thing they have in common is solving different cases. But it's still a pleasant watch.
Yeah, all those shows have better team dynamic that this show and it has a lot of humors. Not that this one is not good, but it lacks the humors from those other shows.
Sherlock Holmes - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however…
Possibly if Van Gulik was the one writing it because he wrote after Arthur Conan Doyle but someone please correct me if I'm wrong as I just looked based on the year, not the real history.
Just finished ep4 and I’m kind of on the fence about this one. The first case was mildly interesting. It seemed…
Yes, I do follow the episodes but it has not hooked me through like some other Chinese ancient detective shows yet. Have you watched "Strange Tales of the Tang Dynasty"? The character is a student of Detective Dee here so his method is based on what he thought. The characters are fictional though although the history background is accurate. It has more comedy and buddy cop vibe.

Indeed. Although I also watched it when it has stopped airing so I was late to the party as well.
Have you watched "Mysterious Lotus Casebook"? That one was not based on real history events but it's really good as well.
Any version of Irene is fine. I know some people don't like BBC Sherlock's Irene but I think she is great there too.
I get whatever free episodes I got either from Youtube posted by Youku or the app itself. Yes, going to enjoy the bonus earlier episodes :)
Ah OK, thanks :)
Yes, it's enjoyable so far.
