They are trying to including all type of sexuality and I appreciate it!
Instead of including i will say, they were trying to showcase both sexualities exist alongside each other. Most of mainstream and also BLs fail to do that as mainstream shows only features hetero couples whereas BLs only features gay couples, evn other side characters also turned out queer just bcz show is bl/gl.
"... to emphasize that both gay and straight relationships exist naturally alongside each other"It's possible…
The coexistence of a gay relationship alongside a straight one is only impactful if a second straight couple is introduced with significant importance. Otherwise, minor straight couples won’t make much of a difference. Many mainstream shows feature gay characters, but they are often minor or background roles, failing to truly represent the idea that both queer and straight people exist alongside each other. However, when one lead couple is gay and the other is straight, it creates a stronger representation of coexistence.
Since this show has only 10 episodes, they can’t introduce new characters without compromising the story. It would also be difficult to focus on two gay couples along with a straight couple in such limited screen time (10 episodes of 40 minutes each).
If the creators were homophobic, they would have made the main couple straight as well. Instead, their goal was likely to promote acceptance by showing that gay people exist alongside straight couples. Therefore, it can't be considered homophobia by any definition.
I watched E2 and quite liked it. It was simple, beautiful and heartwarming. The OST played in this episode was also beautiful though im not sure if it was the same one they used in E1.
Coming to the second couple, im really enjoying their dynamic and their individual characters. The short 1 minute scene between the FL and SML left a good impression on me. Many people are upset about the second gay couple being removed and replaced with a straight couple from the manhwa but i personally like the development. The main focus remains on the gay couple, whom im also loving but in my opinion replacing the second gay couple with a straight couple was actually a clever move. It helps normalize the coexistence of both straight and gay couples in a realistic way.
In most mainstream shows, we primarily see straight couples, whereas in BL dramas especially those from thailand, almost every character turns out to be gay as if its some fantasy world where everyone is automatically queer. However this show is taking a different approach by normalizing the presence of gay couples alongside straight couples. I hope we will see more of this in mainstream shows as well.
As for those accusing the creators of being homophobic, if that were the case, they could have made the main couple straight too. They would have erased both gay couples entirely. But instead, they replaced the second gay couple with a straight one for a purpose to emphasize that both gay and straight relationships exist naturally alongside each other.
Off course that's because Bogum and IU can't took role of parents of teenager anymore. If u here just because…
Im not complaining about the older actors taking over, i was just expressing my wish to see IU and Bogum more because of their top notch performances. So why is that such a problem?? Why would that trigger anyone?? If you had such an issue, you didnt have to respond to my simple statement where i was just sharing my feelings without insulting or hurting anyone.
Lastly i was never rude to the senior actors. My statement was purely about my wish to see IU and PBG more and i even acknowledged in the very next sentence that the senior actors are fantastic as well. So i dont see how I was being disrespectful. I was simply sharing my thoughts about the drama, without hurting anyone and thats exactly what this platform is meant for. Yet, here you are, being rude to a stranger, misinterpreting my words, twisting my statements and making unnecessary assumptions. At least what i said was solely about the drama, i didnt judge, misinterpret or shame others unnecessarily like you did.
Off course that's because Bogum and IU can't took role of parents of teenager anymore. If u here just because…
Did you even watch E7 and 8?? How can you say the story isnt moving forward but only running parallel?? Of course, its moving forward, middle aged Aesun and Gwansik along with their daughter leading the next generation, clearly show that. Meanwhile, PBG and IU’s scenes are mostly flashbacks. And it will continue that way in the remaining episodes as well.
Off course that's because Bogum and IU can't took role of parents of teenager anymore. If u here just because…
So, shaming me for liking an actor's performance isnt rude?? First of all, i never even said i was watching this drama just for the actors or the story. I was simply praising the actors, which is why i mentioned wanting to see a bit more of them, at least until halfway through the drama. So how did you jump to the conclusion that liking the actors means i dont care about the story and that it’s something to be ashamed of??
Secondly, how were we supposed to know from the start that the young actors would only have a full fledged role for six episodes?? Was it ever officially mentioned that they’d be there for only six episodes?? No, it wasnt. There was no indication of that anywhere. Naturally i expected them to be in at least eight episodes, half the drama, with the younger cast for the first eight and the senior cast taking over for the latter half. Thats why i said they should have been there until E8, it was just a small personal wish. I wasnt attacking or trolling any actor or the director. My wish is separate from how the drama actually divided screen time. And at no point did i say that just because the middle aged actors took over, i was going to drop the drama, rate it poorly or criticize their performances. I absolutely plan to enjoy this drama until the last episode because of its story. So why are you judging me based on a simple wish and what i initially expected when no such thing was ever officially mentioned??
Off course that's because Bogum and IU can't took role of parents of teenager anymore. If u here just because…
Do you even have reading comprehension skills?? Did i ever say im here only for the actors and not the story?? Or is it some new trend to be rude to strangers without even trying to understand what they are saying??
Have you ever seen a truly outstanding performance that made you want to see more of the actors even just a little?? Or simply praised them as part of appreciating their work?? Thats exactly what i meant here. I wished to see IU and PBG more but did i ever criticize the older actors for getting more screen time?? No because their performances were also fantastic and i loved them just as much. It was just a personal wish to see IU and PBG more, at least until E8 (half of the drama). Im also fully aware that they will appear in flashbacks but wont have full fledged roles which is why i felt a little disappointed.
If i cared only about the actors and not the story, i wouldnt have rated this drama 10/10. But my 10/10 rating is purely because of the story.
So from now on, try to understand what someone is actually saying before responding. And if nothing else atleast dont be unnecessarily rude to people you dont even know.
I wish the younger versions of the lead characters had stayed until at least E8. They gave such a peak performance in E6 only for the middle aged actors to take over?? I want more of them!!
Even the older actors are doing a fantastic job but i wanted the younger versions to stay until at least E8.
E6 was the most heartbreaking one yet. The depiction of losing a child and the grief that follows was both beautiful and devastating. That episode genuinely made me cry but it also left me no choice but to rate this drama a 10/10.
if shes good at acting in those roles, why would it be a bad thing for her to commit to them?? people who act…
And what if we are watching for other actors like im watching for Lin Yi?? Obviously we have the right to voice our opinions so dont tell us whether to stop watching the show or not. If you have a problem with our opinions, then go somewhere else, no one is forcing you to reply to us.
It’s fine to not like her voice but this comment is really unnecessary.
Then is it okay for people to praise her?? Bcz if this is how its gonna be then in my eyes those comments are also unnecessary. Bcz everyone is voicing their opinion.
if shes good at acting in those roles, why would it be a bad thing for her to commit to them?? people who act…
Did you even read what i have written in my og post?? Who said she is good at it?? I clearly stated that she is plain annoying and cringeworthy in those roles, at least to me, so there is no way i said she is good at them.
Action stars can stick to action because they excel at it but Esther isnt even good at being cute. It always feels like she is trying way too hard. Again this is just my opinion. Fans will obviously say they find her great in those roles but taste is subjective. Many will find her bad as well.
Esther Yu is back with yet another amateurish and childish character who is not only annoying but downright unbearable. Many people will think im a hater but most of her characters have the same tone, there is no variation, just the same childish, annoying roles (with only a few exceptions).
I know i will get a lot of hate for saying this, but her voice is simply cringe worthy. I dont need an explanation about how her voice is in demand in china etc. Im just expressing how i always feel while watching her shows. And before anyone asks why im watching it, its because of Lin Yi.
The first episode was pretty much below average. I will give it a few more episodes to see if it improves.
I find both Daon and Ju Seong hyeon really boring but Shin Jaemin and Kim Suhyeon are keeping my interest alive. Daon and Ju Seong hyeon feel like your typical one dimensional cliche protagonists, even their scenes lack excitement. But the moment Jaemin and Suhyeon appear, its pure fire lol.
Honestly Ju Seong hyeon's character feels unnecessary. They could have made Kim Suhyeon the main lead, misunderstood by Daon with Jaemin as psycho second lead.
The whole situation reminds me of that childhood story about the two cats and the monkey, when two cats fight over bread, monkey seize it all lol.
I do feel sympathy for Baabin but do i want him to end up with Fou4mod? No. Do i dislike or hate Fou4mod for ignoring Baabin because of his love for Chian? No. Do i hate Chian or even Bua for breadcrumbing people who have crushes on them? No.
Just like Baabin has a crush on Fou4mod, Fou4mod has a crush on Chian and Chian has a crush on Bua. But the twist here is that neither Bua likes Chian nor Fou4mod likes Baabin. So i dont want Bua or Fou4mod to accept those unnecessary feelings from their best friends out of pity or obligation. However Fou4mod and Chian actually have a chance, although Chian is using Fou4mod, he is at least developing some soft feelings for him so there is a possibility for them to end up together. Thats why i root for them.
On the other hand, for Fou4mod-Baabin and Bua-Chian there is no chance as Bua and Fou4mod dont see them as more than friends. So even though i feel some sympathy for Baabin, i dont dislike others whether its Fou4mod or Chian for ignoring his feelings because Baabin is doing the same thing, having a one sided crush just like Fou4mod and Chian.

He is bit similar to his reply1988 character but this character have much more layers compared to choi taek. So keep watching.
