we're not underestimating the financial risks associated with producing something that challenges conservatism,…
"Producers who seek to appeal to conservative groups should invest in creating their own original stories." If the webtoon writer herself isnt making any objections, then whats the problem here?? She has been involved in the production since its inception and is more than happy with it. So, whats wrong if they choose to remove or alter the queer angle to avoid wasting money??
If she had raised objections, i would understand but when she herself is okay with it why does everyone else have a problem??
Look, not everything is going to be the way you want. You can simply ignore it if you dont like how they removed the queer angle and move on.
People who are upset about the removal of the queer/GL aspect should take a look at the situation faced by Love in the Big City from conservative groups in korea. Despite being an OTT drama on TVING, LITBC still faces backlash from homophobic koreans. Now imagine what would have happened with Jeongnyeon, a weekend drama on one of the top broadcasting channels, tvN. The channel and production studios have invested a whopping 33 billion won and all of that could have been wasted if it was also banned due to complaints from conservative groups in korea.
IMO it's because Hong doesn't really "love" Min Jun. She likes him and she feels comfortable and safe/stable with…
Still it doesnt look believable at all. Imean they were together for very short period of time. If they had been in relationship for 7-8 yrs then it would have bern looked more believable.
I really love the kind of melodrama this show delivers. The angst is portrayed so well and the emotions hit hard. When you think about it, neither of them is truly at fault for the breakup. Both have valid reasons and its really the circumstances and timing that are to blame.
However, the one thing that doesnt quite make sense is that, even after five years, they still havent moved on. If they had been in a relationship for a longer period, like 7-8 years, it would be more believable. But they were only together for a short time, so its a bit hard to accept that they are still not over each other. That said, if we overlook this, the show is really excellent.
Wow, this is so good!! The first two episodes were excellent exactly what i hoped for from the director of Where Your Eyes Linger, To My Star and Blueming. She is definitely back!!
Neither of the leads are conventionally good looking but they fit their roles perfectly. They have embodied their characters so well and their rugged features make them look convincingly like taekwondo athletes. The chemistry between them is amazing & even the brief moments of angst were brilliantly portrayed. Their banter and conversations feel so natural and the acting is spot on..
The atmosphere is warm and comforting, with the dynamic between the leads reminding me of the chemistry in To My Star. The village neighborhood setting also brings similar vibes to To My Star 2.
The music department is also spot on, the choices of bgms are really good and the OST played at the end of Ep 2 was amazing.
E7 has the best storyline so far. While the previous episodes featured interesting and entertaining cases, this one really touched my heart. Perhaps its because it was directly tied to one of the main characters, Su Jeong, whereas earlier cases mainly involved minor, unrelated characters.
Su Jeong and her son's story was emotional and i truly felt bad for her son. Although he didnt commit suicide, in reality, many people do for the same reason. Parents often ignore their children's wishes and, for the sake of society, try to make them conform to societal expectations. But when children take their own lives, the parents start to regret it but by then, its too late. If Su Jeong hadnt been a main character and this case had been centered around a some random cameo, i believe the show would have taken a more realistic approach, perhaps even showing her son committing suicide due to parental rejection. But since she is one of the leads they cant show her in too negative a light.
It is abomination to rate this drama lower than 8.9 to 9. It just tells that people really don't have an eye for…
Bruh, its only 2 episodes in and you are expecting an 8.9-9 rating for a non romance kdrama?? Thats unlikely to happen, but i can definitely say that the rating will increase as the episodes progress and more people connect with the story.
Its actually better that the show is at 8.2 right now, so there is a good chance of a solid increase. With the quality of episodes they are delivering, i have faith in them.
Its better to start at 8.2 and rise, rather than begin at 8.9-9 and then drop, as often happens with romcom dramas that fail to meet viewers expectations.
With non romance kdramas, if the story is good, the rating tends to rise as the show progresses. I still remember how Kim Taeri's Revenant performed on MDL, starting at around 8.3 and then rising to 8.7 by the end. Thats the kind of response im hoping for here.
The pilot episode left a great impression on me. The show is wholesome - emotional and heartwarming. Its tackling sensitive topics like autism and child abuse with care and so far, im really impressed by the overall execution. Both the child actor and Michito (SML) portray their roles beautifully, with Michito’s depiction of autism feeling especially genuine. Im also loving the setting, it gives off such beautiful and calming vibes.
Why shouldnt you have said you were bored if you were?? There is no need to please people like that. I didnt find anything in your comment that made you seem like a hater or a troll.
Im the one who absolutely loved the pilot episode, you can check my comment below. But i dont understand why fans bash others just because they have different opinions.
If your comment had come from an actual troll, I wouldnt have bothered to intervene. But seeing normal people getting harassed for having a different opinion made me speak up. I have also faced the same treatment in the comments of another show, where i wasnt a troll but got labeled as one just for having a different perspective.
You didnt mention thrillers having unique, new scripts but whats wrong with romcom fans enjoying the same repetitive scripts and finding thrillers boring?? Just like you enjoy repetitive thriller scripts, they do the same with romcoms. Its subjective which genre people prefer and thats where i find your statement wrong. Additionally OP never intended to express any hate toward this drama or the thriller genre, so creating a conflict between the two genres was unnecessary.
Regarding people who enjoy psychological thrillers being labeled as 'sick' or 'psychos,' i honestly havent encountered anyone saying that in my eight years of watching asian dramas, not even once. If by chance someone did say such things to thriller fans, they would be absolutely wrong, no doubt about that. But again, that doesnt justify taunting romcom fans. Two wrongs dont make a right.
Your entire original comment clearly conveys your hate towards the OP and a particular genre. You specifically mention romcoms and your response to the person mocking the OP confirms who you are targeting. No one here is naive enough to believe you when you say you werent hating on the OP or the romcom genre. While your issue wasnt with a particular drama, it was obvious that your dislike was aimed at romcoms as a whole. Secondly, even if someone had posted a similar comment under a romcom drama, no one would bash them for liking thrillers. I have never seen romcom fans attack thriller fans just because they dont enjoy romcoms. Romcoms are clearly popular, both on MDL and elsewhere, but its also true that people tend to look down on them for having simpler scripts. However i have never seen the same level of disdain directed toward thrillers.
And even if by chance some romcom fans made negative comments about thrillers, it would still be wrong. That doesnt justify you looking down on romcoms or the OP either. And again this wasnt even biased opinion, OP never intended to spread hate or she wasnt even troll to deserve this kind of treament for her simple opinion.
Why are you all needlessly hating on the user for finding episode 1 boring?? She didnt say it was trash, just that she found it boring at the moment because she wasnt in the mood. She even mentioned that she might try watching it again. So why are you acting like she’s a troll or hater?? And whats with the comment about romcom fans not finding the repetitive romcom scripts boring?? Are thrillers any different?? Even most thrillers follow similar, repetitive scripts about serial killers and victims, what about that??
You enjoy thrillers, others like romcoms. Just like you aren’t wrong for enjoying thrillers with repetitive plots, how are they wrong for enjoying romcoms with similar themes?? Personally, i enjoy both as long as they engage me. I loved episode 1 of this show, but if someone else found it boring, whats wrong with that?? At least she isnt hating or trolling. She even said she might give it another try when she’s in the mood. Yet, you are all acting like she is a hater, and on top of that, you are teasing and taunting her based on her profile picture. Seriously, whats wrong with people on MDL?? Cant you accept a simple difference of opinion??
The pilot was visually stunning with every frame looking like a work of art. The direction, cinematography and setting all came together to create something truly beautiful.
While im not familiar with Pansori culture, the stage performance was mesmerizing to watch.
In E1, Kim Taeri and Jung Eunchae stood out the most. Kim Taeri delivered her role flawlessly, as always but Jung Eunchae really caught me off guard. I have always known she is a talented actress but here, she looked absolutely handsome rather than traditionally beautiful. Seeing her in such a drastically different role right after her work in Pachinko 2 was a pleasant surprise.
The story somewhat reminds me of Penthouse, especially the rivalry between Cheon Seojin and Oh Yoon Hee, along with their daughters. It feels like Ra Miran and Moon Sori’s characters were old rivals and their daughters, Jeongnyeon and Shin YeEun's character (likely Ra Miran’s daughter), are set to clash in a similar way, much like Bae Rona and Ha Eunbyeol did.
E1 was outstanding and i loved every moment of it. The tension was so intense, it felt almost exhausting in the best way. While its primarily a mystery thriller, it occasionally leans into horror creating an even darker atmosphere.
The narrative kept me hooked from start to finish. Even the scenes without dialogue were captivating, silence itself became a powerful tool in those moments.
Han Sukkyu and Chae Wonbin's portrayal of an estranged father and daughter adds a palpable tension and they both bring their characters to life flawlessly.
I can already sense that this will be a tightly woven, well crafted mystery thriller!!
The movie was simply excellent, a perfect blend of emotions and action, both executed flawlessly.
The story makes you deeply empathize with the pain of the low born slaves and fuels a strong hatred for the oppressive noblemen. One thing i have noticed is that in most action movies, emotions are often missing but this one does a perfect job of bringing those emotions to the screen, making the viewers truly feel the weight of the story.
The action scenes were outstanding. The final fight between ML, SML and the Japanese general was one of the rare action scenes where all three men fought against each other simultaneously.
The acting was excellent, especially from ML and his younger counterpart. They both delivered incredible performances.
The original Go Ahead is one of my most favorite shows of all times and i really enjoyed the first two episodes of this remake. However i cant help but compare the two in my mind. The original had a stronger emotional pull, while this one has a more heartwarming tone with scenic locations. The original took more time to explore the childhood part, whereas this one feels a bit rushed. But overall, it was still good.
This remake does try to create its own unique impact which is a strong point.
I just wish this one had a more emotional OST like the original. The OST Fearless from the original Go Ahead is one of my absolute favorites, its an instant tearjerker.
I will try to limit my comments here because, even though im enjoying the korean remake, i still compare both versions in my mind and it might come across as negative. I dont want to spoil the experience for new viewers.
If she had raised objections, i would understand but when she herself is okay with it why does everyone else have a problem??

This is already 9.5 for me!!
