Ep 23 made me smile. Ep 24 made me laugh. The cousin- I wasn't expecting an actual catfight. I didn't even know I would enjoy watching it. I have been some evil secondary characters but its like watching a young *b___ch * before they grow old and become the resident evil witch in other drmaas.

This drama?

Slow burn. Just wait and watch. It has the correct amount of main couple, interesting plot, good writing and terrific costumes and directing. Its a win for me and I am notoriously picky.

I actually am tense already from ep 1. I don't know what the people are talking about. Its an ensemble cast so am perfectly happy at present. In a tense expecting disaster sort of way.

I cannot even see any pretty boy actors at present because of Ci Sha. I had forgotten what a man looks like after all the foundation heavy, skinny male leads.

The story of Ming Lan worked a treat. Its now ep 3 and I am nicely addicted.

Its ok. I go to a drama to get a feel of the whole thing. The directing, pacing, acting, writing, costumes etc.

That was a very intense 3 episodes. Everyone's acting was phenomenal. The chemistry is there even the old grandmothers had the majestic vibes. I am in episode 1 now and I am already cringing at the household politics.

The problem was I acidentally watched an analysis of episodes 23- 24. It does not look like a couple- happy episodes. That's why I need something to distract me until ep 28 airs.

So you guys mentioned the Story of Ming Lan a lot. Ok maybe a few times during the earlier comments.

I got tired from the stress of waiting for upcoming episodes and went straight to ep 63 to get a feel of the drama. I ended up watching till ep 65 shellshocked.

I am now going to ep 1 to watch this drama. I only started historical dramas a few years ago and normally couldn't touch a 73 episode drama. However the recent 40 to 60 episode dramas have trained me.

So bring on ep 23 and 24. Then I might be addicted enough to skip ep 25 and 26 until Sunday when ep 27 and 28 airs. I will not do well with single episodes the next few days.

This drama's family ranks has confused me slightly in the Chen family. I will pay more attention from today.

The 4th daughter or is it the 4th aunt married a Gu son right? So Chen YY is her brother?

Then we have the FL's mother marrying the 4th Gu son. Because the 2nd son has that twit of her daughter.

Then we have the Ji family guy who is always called 2nd brother. How or who are his parents? In relation to the mother.

Who married into the Chen family that the Ji family is closed to the Chens? The aunt that Ye Xian called aunt attended the FL's mother's funeral but who is Ye Xian's mum related to?

I can't work out if the FL is technically considered the next generation and she is marrying a " uncle. "

Hence why I wasn't paying or listenting properly. Its all the " branch or rooms " comments in other dramas when they rank themselves. Sorry I just automatically sort their family ranks in my mind when I watch. Its easier than remembering names.

You might have to google the answers. That's because the answers are in Mandarin when they address each other. That's how I pick up relationship links and how they address the uncles.

The last time I hear branches in a Cdrama its usually children from other concubines etc rather than the biological sons

The romance is angsty and hot.

The intrigue is classy vs sloppy writing.

Then back to the angst; I know the ending will be good. Maybe. Ok I know ep 27- 28 will be good yet I am still stressed to the eyeballs.

And oh yeah episode 21. * swoon * now THAT is how to do a stress build up then BAM give it a good swoony romantic scene. None of this stupid pan out, blurred screen, curtains hiding and all the innuendos. Them be some proper kissing where the guy didn't do a simple peck on the lips.

It was a 2021 drama which meant it was likely filmed in 2020. He was likely only 23 then.

The perilla powder used is also used in gamjatang, other soups etc. Its also interesting because perilla leaf is used in gimbap so I would presume that the Batallion Commander would have discovered his allergy as a kid.

I am a good cook but this drama stumped me. My kids actually grew up with bukeoguk. Or pollack soup. Its also used for a hangover soup.

Really? I wish I was there whenever there is filming but always miss it. The stage at Gwanghwamun Square looked like the prep stage for the BTS concert you see.

I'd be happy if I had started later so I could marathon it.
