WHAT THE FOCK

i'm actually so speechless right now i don't even know what to say.
I started this bc I read the first sentence from the first review on MDL and that got me hooked AND THEY WEREN'T WRONG

heartbreaking, beautiful and absolutely chaotic
that was not the ending I expected even though i should've seen it coming

stories goes across three life spans, three different stories, that find a way to connect with one another until the end

I didn't know Tantai Jin means the "moon" but it all makes sense when you put that together.
I absolutely loved this even though I was infuriated with some parts and bored with others, especially the 2nd LC. I think this is my first Bai Lu drama and its safe to say that it isn't my last. LYX and BL's chemistry was top notch and hearing that this isn't their first drama together, i'm def watching the other one.

there's so much to say about this drama and not enough words in my vocubulary. maybe i'll come back and write an even better review after i digested this drama since i just finished it a minute ago. let me tell you it left me sitting in a blank stare after i sat there sobbing during the last couple scenes.

edit: AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE INTRO/OUTRO AND OST

New Addition to my Favorites

I just KNOW im going to get post drama depression. im seriously going to miss these characters. this whole story was just beautiful. a childhood reunion with the boy endlessly pursing her and her falling in love with him AND OMFG it was so different. there was those cliche lovey dovey moments but also different ones I CANNOT.

the second couple was also AMAZING. the chemistry, the relationship dynamic. this couple was just as interesting and could even be argued more interesting than the main couple.

the main couple was beautiful. the FL & ML both worked together in a drama Put Your Head On My Shoulders and it was so great seeing him not as the second male lead. the chemistry was ON POINT, everything was TO DIE FOR. hes the boyfriend that you wish you had but doesn't exist in this world. the FL was strong & she stuck to her morals and didn't loose herself. the ml to the end was consistent and I LIVED FOR IT.

the best part was how supporting the parents were, how there wasn't any BIG love triangles, misunderstandings weren't infuriating and they were sorted out

the family dynamics were the BEST, the cousin, FL's mom, the SFL (cong ring's bestie, I love she's so supportive), the uncle

as I was watching this I didn't even realize how quickly I was going through this. its the type of drama that just makes you feel warm on the inside. 100% sure im going to rewatch this bc I just KNOW imma be missing these characters. I think I love this drama as much as I love 020 LOVE and I LOVED that drama.

the ending was also one of the best ive seen, or maybe thats all the collective feelings that piled up as I watched wen shaoqing and cong song's journey together.

OMG DONT FORGET THE AMOUNT OF KISS SCENES IN THIS DRAMA IT WAS SO UNEXPECTED AND GOOD AND STEAMY AND I JUST CANTIHRKGLJAHFG (like fl's kiss scene in put your head on my shoulders was quite...stiff but like understandable bc imagine how awkward it is to yk but like girl her acting IMPROVED TENFOLD I cannot believe my eyes) I swear I blushed so mannnnnyyyy times in this drama just watching them even when they weren't kissing either like damn my standards JUST WENT HIGHER THAN EVER BEFORE and they were already pretty high. (no wonder im forever single these dramas have ruined me)

First Thai Drama & First Review!!

So I watched this awhile back and only recently rewatched this.
I have to say, this is what a real enemies to lovers story looks like. thats all im saying for this bc I don't wanna spoil anything. it was that good.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the hatred the ML had for the FL like to the point of frustration bc he was so blinded by his hate to see how good the FL is. the devotion his character had towards his love for them was also part of the reason why it made me want to rewatch this. Just the way his character's feelings developed deserved an applause of its own.
The FL is also smth that was new to me bc she was just so STRONG. she rlly went against all those stereotypical, naive, silly, innocent FL. Instead she was headstrong all the way through and just knew her way around. This was also the drama that made me LOVE Yaya. her acting is just everything you could ask for in an actress. she made me cry whenever she cried (but then again im a crybaby when it comes to dramas).
The chemistry between the two was AMAZING. there's just no other way to explain it. I literally thought they were dating irl (they're not LOL)

the evil characters really made you hate them and there were also rlly good character developments. the soundtrack was pretty good, especially the theme song (it was so catchy for some reason). this drama was also the reason I got into Thai dramas but was also wary for warning reasons.

Overall: This is definitely smth I would recommend with trigger warnings tho.

****SPOILER ALERT (kinda)
Anyways, the only thing I had against this drama and probably any Thai drama ever are the attempted rape scenes and the step father obsessing over his stepdaughter. There was also a drugging scene in the beginning which really made my blood boil. I literally hated those scenes.

Emotionally Intriguing

I binged this in one day, it was that good. story about a real life bullying event and just thinking about how this happened to someone is actually so insane.

Song Hye Kyo's character grows up to masterfully craft a foolproof revenge plot for her bullies and its so satisfying getting the justice she deserves, especially when she took it into her own hands to get that revenge.

Another thing is the chemistry between her character and all the others that she ropes into her plan because they want her to see her enact the revenge she deserves. goose bumpingly satisfying.

The actors and actresses who play the antagonists are so good you can't help but hate them.

I can't wait to see how part 2 plays out.

totally lives up to other reviews

im not big on political conflicts bc they all seem either the same/repeatative/or predictable to me (like sibling rivalry, greedy old men in the same gov trying to overstep their boundaries, evil mother trying to get her son power, etc etc) but this was refreshingly different. just watch and you'll see *wink*

each storyline and character was intricate. the side characters had their own charm & added to the drama in their own way. the character development was ASTRONOMICAL. I didn't even realize when but I started rooting for the ML even though I didn't like him much in the first couple of episodes. the writers made their characters perfectly, none were black and white (except maybe one but I just think he's really psychotic, like an actual mental issue or smth). they were really human and it just made me love the story oh so much more, even if they did make me angry in the moment.

the story really makes you question yourself, thinking one thing but doubt creeps in from another.
the chemistry was *chef's kiss* perfect. Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi had a love story so palpitating. and I love me a supportive family, like it was unexpectedly beautiful and touching. the second lead couple DESERVES A WHOLE STORY OF THEIR OWN I CANT *TEARS*

im also not big on listening to the ost but if a rlly good song is playing and I somehow hear it while watching the drama, then I'll start paying attention to the bg songs (*ahem* taeyeon is part of the ost lineup)

the only thing I hated was/were the evil character(s) but thats their job so I gueeeessssss it was a success in a way AND I hated the *spoiler* deaths but I guess thats the way life is

ANYWAYS, 1000/10 would rewatch. the tropes were so refreshing to the eyes and every moment was enjoyable. from South Korean prince and a North Korean ace soldier. a guard and a princess. a nation vs a conglomerate. us vs Korea. dad vs son. brother vs. brother. enemies to lovers. etc the list just goes on. I didn't skip a single scene like how I usually would do lately so that was a really good feeling. <3

I can't believe I postponed watching this :|

AYO for some reason whatsoever, I paused this drama a couple of years ago, probably because I got bored during the middle, but then I restarted all the way from the beginning and carried through AND I DO NOT REGRET A SINGLE THING. actually I regret pausing but other than that nothing else.

everything was 5 stars to besides the story and that's only because Gil Ra Im, whose supposed to be skilled in multiple areas of martial arts, self defense, and works out daily because of her job, is constantly overpowered by Joo Wan, which by the way FRUSTRATED ME quite a bit. another thing was that most of the physical power he forced upon her felt like borderline sexual assault if this was real world but bc I watched the NG cuts & behind the scenes, I found it (guiltily) cute.
ALSO Joo Wan's mother was EXTREMELY ANNOYING and STUBBORN but that's part of the plot so there was nothing to be done about that.

I don't have any complaints against anything else. I love the way she made things difficult for him because he deserved it most of the time. the struggle was REALLLL satisfying. the bond between Joo Wan and Oska was a beauty. every other part of the plot was just intricate and didn't leave any obvious foreshadowing, plotholes, and repeatative scenes. my favorite thing was how they kept introducing new scenes that haven't been shown throughout the drama. (that may have been a slight spoiler). the chemistry was just perfect, comedy was funny, dialogue was interesting, and I love how the focus of the story (soul switching) wasn't the only part to the plot. They were somehow able to spread that across the drama and incorporated it differently from how dramas currently doing. (maybe it's just me missing 2010 type of dramas).

the characters had amazing growth, the OST has been added to my playlists, and I AM DEFINITELY REWATCHING THIS DRAMA. Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won look too good in this drama not to. I cried, I laughed, I loved, I was angered, and I had my expectations risen so there's pros and cons, mainly pros.

though many might not even know of this dramas existence anymore, I do hope this gets recommended or at least diffused somehow for a longer time because this drama really deserves its love and fame. it really gives me nostalgic feels

this is what I call a rollercoaster

so this show makes you enter into a story that seemingly looks fluffy and lighthearted with no other heavier themes WRONG THIS IS A MFING TRICK. istg im pretty sure it has almost everything a Chinese historical fantasy drama would have. in my experience w/ watching this 63 episodes is toooo much for & I was right bc most of the episodes and side stories seemed pointless to me.

dislikes:
there was so much miscommunication, obsessive behavior, side stories that might be good if I was invested but I wasn't so I basically skipped most of those, what the fl's character was like in the middle of the story (in the beginning it was understandable, in the end it was so much more better), the emperor and empress (especially this lady), bruh I also had a love hate relationship with the second male lead

likes:
the male lead bc he was quite consistent, the fl's parents, the fl's friends/side kicks, the mortal story (if y'all actually watch this I suggest you pay attention to this portion of the show it was real good), the beginning of the show because I love fluff, less dramatic dramas (and this drama was hella heavy with the drama), the ending because everything tied together pretty well and there are really some heartwretching moments (yk when ur heart squeezes and it kinda hurts yeah that), the CHARACTER GROWTH thank god for this one, there are some characters in this drama that actually have some sense in them, the CGI damn it was realllyyyy goooddddd, acting was also pretty good but id have to question the moon god for his performance in the crying department

I was really tired of this drama bc of how draggy and slow everything was, so many filler scenes and episodes imo, I also really wasn't into the amount of side stories and backstories bc it was so predictable to me (the demon princess even tho it was still cute it was predictable, the sml's mom was a shocking revelation but then it became predictable, the fl's mom's story was all mysterious at first but once it was revealed it was brought up so many times, etc I cant recall any more but u get the point. however there were a lot of other moments that weren't predictable and were actually like WTF! kinda thing.

my favorite was the cute moments between the fl and ml, especially when they have those monologues about their emotions OMFG I SWEARRRR

"You also know that a glance or a word cant remove your sorrow. Even ten thousand glances and even ten thousand words will not satisfy you." --- this quote hit me so hard

throughout this drama, I didn't enjoy most of it, but there were those parts that were really good which is why my overall score is 7.5. if not for those, I would've given this a 4. this is rewatch worthy but only the specific parts I like. I would recommend but only with lots of warnings of a dragging plot, pointless side stories, an irritating mother in law, & a stupid but will have character growth female lead etc

definitely going to rewatch the mortal era with more interest so I can have its full emotional impact bc everybody loves a reason to cry :D

political turmoil/ romance/ action/ a bit of cross gender dressing/ lots of palace life/ death

I honestly don't know how I feel about this drama
it was all sorts of a rollarcoaster but to say that it affected me was the least of it, thats what makes a good drama anyways.
where do I even start...

the acting in this drama was absolutely amazing, no doubt about it. ji chang wok really outdid himself, his micro expressions were PERFECT. theres nothing for me to say about ha ji won cause she is out of this world. no one would be able to pull off a role that goes from male lower ranks to the highest female rank in the land all the while pulling off the perfect emotions for each of her scenes. everyone else from the actor who played Tal Tal, the king of goryeo and his right hand men, to the eunachs, and the evil characters showed exceptional acting.

this drama I would say is mostly political corruption/turmoil (45%), fighting scenes (10%), romance (30%), betrayal (10%), friendship/loyalty (5%). so there is nothing lighthearted about this drama. I would say this is one of the darker dramas even in terms of historical dramas.

the gem of this drama to me was (FML)sungnyang's intelligence and wit because without it, you would only feel pure fury. I kid you not, there are quite a few annoyances I had.

another thing, I ended up as a tal tal and nyang shipper so make due with that information how ever you please (although you may not know what im talking about)

it was humorous, HEARTBREAKING, annoying, irritating, infuriating, I gueessssssss you can say there were those cute moments, suspenseful, and overall though it may have been 51 episodes, it will go by quick if you're really invested, especially politically-wise

rewatch value: maybe some scenes but to rewatch every 50 episodes is a bit too much for me, but for recommendations I definitely agree if you want to see great acting, political turmoil, great comebacks and strategizing made by the fml, an EXTREMELY frustrating love triangle (I wish it was love scquare because TALTAL anyways), and lots and lots of plottwistqs (with barely any plot holes :))

Ive always put this drama off and now I'm wondering why I did that

I was in the mood for watching something with gong hyo jin bc her acting is just top notch. she really makes it seem that she's in love and the chemistry with her partners are amazing. I've always heard that Jo in sung is an AMAZING actor but ive never really seen his work before until now and I wholeheartedly agree. he is amazing.

the storyline itself is amazing with not a single episode that gets you bored. its keeps you on your seats with little to no filler episodes. AND AND I am IN LOVE with the dynamic of all the relationships in this show. the beautiful friendship of the household was literally the cherry on top of the amazing storyline and acting.

it is also a unique take on one of the many types of plot that involve mental disorders and I'm loving how each (kill me heal me, its okay not to be okay, etc) drama has a different perspective.

every scene just pulls you deeper into the charm of each character. they also had a really realistic take on mental illnesses instead of just using love as the "cure for all issues" type of solution <3

Asian crush really lives up to its recommendations

so I went into this with no expectations and came out in TEARS.

11/10 would rewatch. the storyline was beautiful, the little moments really made this whole film come together, especially the actors chemistry.

what did drop my score is the cliche Korean plot line where the mc somehow were in each others past but thats alright, it was a little lump that was leaped over and in the end I totally forgot about it.

THIS WAS JUST BEAUTIFUL, I HAVE NO WORDS. Han hyo joo and so ji sub really created the most beautiful chemistry I have ever seen. it was gritty, it was romantic, it was scary (spoiler: there was an attempted rape scene BUT NOT BY THE MALE LEAD!), it was sad, and overall I enjoyed this to the point where it would make it to my top 10 fave movies list. period okay thats all I have to say :D cheers good luck to finding a show/movie to watch <3

Hidden Diamond

omg the ending is AMAZING. ive never seen a drama that did this type of ending but im IN LOVE. it just adds to this dramas charm.

the way shin se kyung acted wasnt my favorite but ive changed my mind about her after this drama. maybe its bc i find her acting so diff but bc this drama is so diff as well, they just fit

ive nvr seen im si wan’s work before but now i can see why hes so well known. His acting is AMAZING. Their chemistry had sparks flying off the screen for me.

one thing that really made this drama stand out was their dialogue. it was so weird and different, blunt but confusing AND I WAS HOOKED. i was so confused as to why even the subtitles didnt make sense to me but i got used to it and it added to the charm.

the whole story itself was beautiful, the friendships, relationship, problems, solutions; everything was so relatable placed in a different situation from a normal life.

I would def recommend this drama, definitely rewatch to see their chemistry and understand their dialogue even better. Even till the end it was still so confusing to me.

DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE LGBT REPRESENTATION THAT WAS AMAZING. they didnt use a stereotypical gay character but what an actual gay character living in korea would be like and i LOVED IT

the girls relationship was absolutely endearing, love and hate, i dont think ive seen a drama w the type of relationship they had in this one

they tackled problems about career paths, relationships and not just the cliche type of issues, lgbt issues, teenage issues, parent issues

dont even get me started on the first couple of episodes, it was so addicting

the only reason why .5 is off is bc i still barely get the dialogue even tho that was my favorite part of the whole drama

SPOILER: i absolutely adore the first and second couples AND THEN A THIRD ONE COMES IN AND I CANNOT EVEN ANYMORE

this drama messes with your feelings

if you want a hopeless romantic story HERE IT IS. the story was intertwined from the beginning and honestly I didn't expect it until they were revealed. I loved the story, it was so different with the way things were executed. a rich girl about to get married but her dad dies on that day and she goes bankrupt so they don't want to marry her anymore and she gets left to live on the streets (sorta), but then she goes to find this online supporter in Eunpo and the magic starts there, or so we thought. everything after that was beautiful until the end.

these plot twists came outta nowhere and my feelings were messed with LIKE WTFETFETF. I swear I cried for a whole episode straight and then they hit me with another plot twist for WHATEVER REASON.... anyways I'll still give it a pretty high score if we just forget about the emotional trauma the writers decided to put us through.

id rewatch to get all the hopeless romantic feels again because HOW ADORABLE IS THE ML. when his whole story with her just slowly unravels MY HEART JUST FELL IN LOVE.

this drama has the friendship, the relationship, the drama, the plot twists, the humor, side characters, and love triangle. rewatch value: high, recommendation value: only if u want like a lighthearted drama thats different and cute but then id give warning about the end (I seriously thought it was gunna be a sad ending...)

OH SIDE NOTE: when Jae Wook first came onto the screen, THAT CURLY MESSY HAIR LOOKS WAS SO GOOD, I was slightly disappointed that they didn't style that more often on him in the drama

Evil Villain Lover

so I've rewatched this a couple times already awhile ago and only got a chance to write my review now. this drama has:
bromance, romance, action, magic (some great CGI), great cinematography, decent acting, a well written plot, friendship, tears
then I guess you can watch this (jk its rlly good & rewatch worthy)

what I liked about this drama was:
- ml is evil but the type of evil where I can destroy this world bc someone hurt you
- bromance & friendship
- grey characters
- stuck w/ the beginning of the plot even with side plot
- great acting from the ml's side
- the little bits of side stories as they captured evil spirits were rlly good & cool

dislikes:
- fl was quite annoying at times for her character bc she pitied herself quite a bit (im more into strong female characters so I cant stand it, but you might be able to)
- most of the time was waiting to be saved (but then again she was fighting w/ supernaturals so like...)
- the other ml's voice was irritating to me sometimes for his high pitch but other times it was funny too
- miscommunication (it got annoying bc the fl just kept GUESSING THINGSJGJDLGJ but I guess it adds to the plot)

characters were rlly diverse & this whole drama was just refreshing bc it was rlly different.

if you want a fantasy drama with an evil male lead that also has bromance than be my guest.
I rewatch this from time to time for that one scene.

A RLLY CUTE FLUFF DRAMA

at first, I only played this drama has background noise but slowly I became invested in a way that I didn't expect. my review doesn't involve much spoiler unless you'd count the last bit a spoiler😏

definitely rewatch worthy just so I can see the male leads eyes again. made me want a boyfriend with impossibly high standards set

this drama had everything: annoying characters you'll definitely hate, some character fluff, a not so weak female character, an ADORABLE male lead, side character stories that were just perfect, friendship, and you'll love it

I have to say, the annoying characters were REAL annoying. the female lead was quite forward in a second hand embarrassment kinda way but that was only in the beginning (she grew much more tolerable and endearing as the drama progressed). and I rlly want a season 2 for the 3rd couple 😏 you'll know who im talking about if you watch.

overall: this drama was pure fluff, not to much heartache, AMAZING CHEMISTRY, and you'll definitely fall for the male lead the way I did, his eyes just told stories. it was mesmerizing.

I might have to resort to watching behind the scenes clips. I didn't even realize I was on the last episode.

SPOILER ISH:
the kiss scenes were AMAZINNGGGGGGGGGGG

this is everything you could ask for

okay so imma just keep this short and say: its good, trust me.

if ygs wanna read my whole review then go on but I warn you, I may hype this show out of proportion to the point that you might be disappointed if you watch this after reading it.

anyways, lets continue...

Seeing that I gave all 10s for my review, I would just like to say, I came in with no expectations, I saw it on Netflix and thought the photo, sypnosis, and preview looked real cool and interesting. I was blown out of my mind when I was hit with this masterpiece. I know it sounds like im hyping it up too much but like its THAT good, trust me.

The plot was just perfect, although confusing, it makes sense as it goes on and everything wraps up in the end so beautifully. There are time transitions, betrayal, death, love, parent issues, no parent issues, sibling love, AMAZING BANTER, and just perfect chemistry.
if im missing smth, just include it into my list above LOL

after finishing the show, you can say that I got what you call: post show depression. nothing would compare but I was still so addicted. I was sad that it ended. 50 episodes just wasn't enough for me.
you will fall in love with almost every character, if not you'll understand them.
the main characters had substance and a story, the side characters, the evil character, they had it ALL

I have to single the MLs out though bc they really made the characters their own. I couldn't imagine any other actors filling that role. the chemistry was EVERYTHING between the two. they say that actors change to fit their character, but Yibo and Lan Zhan made the character their own and intertwined their personalities to bring them to life.
At first I thought it was brotherly banter but going further in I REALIZED IT WAS ROMANCE . that was when I knew I stumbled upon a treasure chest. the romance wasn't in ur face but all the same, id like to say thats what made it all the much more sweeter and precious. I was GIDDY (damn I think im feeling a bubble of happiness just remembering the scenes LMAO). I didn't find out that this was based on a manga until after I finished the show (which btw im planning to read) but they say that the romance definitely is in ur face.

soundtrack was PERFECT. I have the theme song in all my favorite playlist.

there were scenes that were heartbreaking, heartwarming, heartwretching, heartfluttering, and heart confusing.

definitely rewatch worthy and definitely recommend worthy.
I've officially deemed them my comfort characters :D. I hope this helped and I also hope I didn't hype it up too much.
