Since jinhee was raised by the mother and the aunt (the doctor didn't do his father role) and jinhee doesn't acknowledge him as her father ,they come to the bottom line that jinhee will see the doctor guy as the mom's boyfriend since the mom wants to be with the guy. Like the many guys the mom dated ,jinhee will consider the doctor guys as an ahjussi who is dating her mom hence she calls him sir or uncle in some scenes. The doctor guy should solely focus on the mom since he is dating her and not playing the father role. He has got nothing to do jinhee except she is the daughter of his girlfriend, that's the term they come together by the end of the trip.

Regardless he had 30 years of his to figureitout (since the daughter is 30 years old), he could have checked and yes he did say that he checked but didn't know she had a baby. You could put yourself in the daughter's or the mother's shoes, when you're fatherless for 30 years of your life, how would you feel now that he magically appears when he couldn't figure it out unless he was told. Now think about from the mother's side, when you pregnant and your partner disappeared ( think about her pov, how would she know his pov) you had to raise a child at 18 years old and don't forget her abusive alcoholic father. What about job to feed your daughter and so on and forth. What can the father do now ??? He can't act innocent here
