There is no translation for xian in English, the translation immortal is not correct, xian is not immortal even their life is very very long, they can have billions of years of life but still they are not immortal. Xianxia is actually part of Xuanhuan, however, if you want some difference, if the story is more about the xian, then it's xianxia, if the story is more about normal people with xian or fairy or devil or magic, then it's xuanhuan。
