For those here who were mesmerized by how naturally smartly written dialogue flowed from the great acting talent in this series, I thought I’d give a shout out to two lesser known BLs that were on this level from a writing standpoint. “Love Class 2” with no interdependency on the first installment. love class is not on this series level, but the writing authenticity is and the series is literally only a few tenths of a point lower in terms of overall rating and I think MDL folks fairly judged it another one that I consider to be in this league of BL is The Eighth Sense. what these series share is a level of authenticity, not often reached by people writing in this industry. so the few screenwriters that nail it, this is a good opportunity to give recognition I’m sure there’s others but those two come to mind I wish the “that’s was special bell” rang more, but “Our Youth” reminds me of how lucky I am when it does does on those few extra special occasions

Loved, loved Light Shop. Chinese Drama "Reset" and Korean "Night Has Come" would be other good tide-me-overs while we jones out the wait for season 3

Worth it. For all the times you've sat through unimaginative plots and two-dimensional acting in paint-by-numbers BL factory productions, you'll get 11 episodes of your previously wasted time back with interest.

So well said. Best writing in any BL series EVER among other all-time great heights this series hit.

This was an all-time great BL series. One of the best of the hundreds I've seen over almost a decade of watching. The trophies for acting, storytelling, direction and especially writing ( the smartest dialogue in any BL series ever ) belong on the top shelf in the imaginary BL Hall of Fame in my head.

in the real BL world at that age, I was constantly the architect of my own internal drama driven by the insecurity of believing my relationships were too good to be true and would not last…and having no one to confide in would make it hard to get out of my head. It was a different time when DL romances were lonely and a secret most of the time. This show captures that quiet and lonely experience in a way that is all too realistic for those who have lived it. But I can see how some could view the relationship self sabotage as a bit unrealistic.

I can’t take my eyes off Motojima Junsei’s eyes. His soul-stirring gaze knocks the breath out of me every week.

not quite a “move to heaven” but it belongs in the conversation. every once in a while, K dramas move beyond the tropes and give you something truly original and heartfelt this is one of them despite of a slow pace on the back half of the season, but overall well worth the eight episode binge. among the best of 2024 in my opinion it’s better not to know anything about this if you start watching

NC 17 version of “The Moment” but proof that writers at this level will soon be replaced by AI

I cried a liter or more. Watch 20 years after it was made, and it most certainly held up. great characters. well acted

they’ll have to watch the Chinese show Reset to figure their way out

This was excellent. it starts out one way but goes in another direction. The writing was exceptionally well done for this type of show. these types of plots can lose their way this one keeps it tight and has a satisfying payoff for those looking for mystery solved you have to suspend some disbelief, but it’s worth a six episode watch in my opinion

I keep coming back to see if this one is actually gonna move forward Fingers crossed.

That explains it Like Love in TheBig City. The real BL world does not fit with that target demographic

Blue Canvas and Our Youth and Curse of the Taekwondo are three that come to mind off the top of my head, all three feature bad dads

I hadn’t even heard of this one and I follow BL pretty closely I started watching. I couldn’t stop This series was really good, one of the top series of 2024 and deserves its place in the all-time Hall of Fame too

wow. Bullying and Abuse BLs are officially a category in 2024 A few eps in and put more points on the board for Japanese BLs. another series not afraid to get real but in that occasionally over the top Japanese style. one of my favs of the year..an effort to showcase the real BL world with all of its beauty and ugliness in an honest and entertaining way.
