i really hope the screenwriter can change a few things:the ending near the novel’s end, someone says: “会摇橹吗?可愿渡我一程”…
I agree with you. I just want an extended "extra" because they went through so much and finally showed their relationship in the open and then BAM that ending broke me and the extra chapter wasn't very satisfying. I want all the angst and intrigue of the novel + a more solid HE (please drama gods hear my plea)
The synopsis doesn’t sound like a romance at all 😂 It actually sounds pretty brutal.
If you read the novel, it's true that the romance is a subplot not the main plot. BUT it's still an important aspect as it affects the decisions of the main leads which affects the main plot.
My impression is that both leads are gray characters, with flaws.
Yeah. The main spoiler is that he's not a traitor but we all know it anyway hahaha. I don't think reading it will spoil the drama. It'll be great to see it all in live action.
Isn't it based off a historical incident? The setting at least. The fall of the Northern Song?
So I looked up the fall of Northern Song, but it's not quite like that. In DWTT, the enemy forces was slowly encroaching on their territory. But the real kicker happens with the enemy forces killing off the imperial clan (which doesn't happen in the fall of Northern Song). Then an off branch imperial clan member becomes the only surviving male bloodline, so they protect him and bring him to the capital to become the new emperor. So you have loyalties divided: those who care for the royal bloodline (whoever that is), those who straddle the line depending on who seems likely to win, and the enemy camp. There could be some historical reference in one of the fall of a dynasty in China's looooong history though. But I do think it's not usually the turbulent era depicted in many dramas.
This novel kept my attention and felt well-rounded. The casting looks promising. I've seen some fans say they…
I want the HE that was only implied in the novel. I want these two together! Also, I don't want to be so forlorn as I did for Tan Jianci's character in LYF
I can't wait for the full cast list and who they're playing. One thing I like with the novel is that it's not your usual fighting for the throne among princes/wangs and the artistocrats vying for power. This one has one side wanting to protect and retain the imperial bloodline and the invading side. A lot more overt fighting than underhanded scheming, but there are covert scheming too with the ML being a spy.
According to rumors, the 2ML likes the FL at first. But later on, does he focus on his own love story? Or does…
2ML liked FL first, but was also deceiving her. He left her without planning to come back. Then he became thoroughly rich and powerful. He did try to find her but it wasn't a priority. Before he finally did, ML and FL were already in love, but he did try to still pursue her. In the extra, he was the one who helped ML to get back together with FL.

Yes. His sister is someone eager to fight the opposing side (where ML is undercover in) so she's brash and hates ML for being a traitor. She's a good character in the novel.
Who said that? Have you watched many Chinese dramas? THERE ARE SO MANY KISSING SCENES IN CHINESE DRAMAS. Chinese…
In truth, if the drama follows the novel, this drama will focus more on Lin Yi. Although the main protagonist of the novel is LWY, most of the plot happens when they are back in time with LWY in A Chan's body. So it makes sense to get someone with enough acting chops, a face that can be believable as a teenager, and following to carry the drama while giving AiMi more dramas under her belt.
People get to hung up on actual age differences when in a drama, it all depends on whether they can carry that character's age.
And don't get me started with CP-fans who go crazy believing the drama CP are in a real relationship. They use BTS footage as proof like do they think these co-workers would ignore each other when the director says "cut"? Crazy.
I hope the screenwriters make it HE (the HE is hinted in the novel's extra) I can't handle crying for Tan Jianci's character as I did in Lost You Forever.
