I think they died in the in between and their bodies were taken to SDH2 to be made into sand people. ML was still alive but barely. Long Zhi (MZY's character) seems to have done something to keep him alive which was why his heart stopped suddenly a few eps back. Maybe Long Zhi has something to do with the sand people and they need dead bodies to increase their army.

I remember back then when manga were translated by fans too until the businessmen realized there's an actual market for it. I hope eventually Chinese writers would get more royalties with official translations.

I honestly wish these good Chinese books are officially available in English. I'd pay for it. Like there are few good xianxia books in English, but these drama adaptations are good we end up reading fan translations (a million blessings to the fan translators)

I'm so glad you liked it and the journey they went through. Some people didn't like the ending (how quickly it seemed the Meng family still stayed together) but it is fiction at the end of the day. While watching that part, my only thought was "as long as you're happy Xu Qin" because I just really want FL and brother to find peace of mind.
I hope parents, would-be parents, and everyone else would view this story as an eye opener on how much a repressive childhood can affect a child and the pain it brings them well into adulthood. There are too many irl still struggling with generational trauma, too many irl who don't acknowledge that they have inflicted pain on their children. I hope there will be less and less of this pain every year.
