A classic.

I've not been watching dramas for long, but I've been reading manga and manwhas since I was 13 year-old so I am kind of accustomed to these kind of tropes: a really cute unrequited love ends with the characters falling apart and then the one that confessed realizes that somebody else was waiting for them all along. It's pretty basic, this cannot be denied, but this story was so well executed that the series CANNOT get less than a 10 from me. (TENS TENS TENS ACROSS THE BOARD!)

The acting was superb. Yooseok and Saeon took their roles so seriously that when I saw the BTS and his stories on ig I was shook when I saw them acting normal. Yoo's bright and joyful, meanwhile Shinwoo is quiet and reserved but extremely caring. Seo's cute and smiley, while Taekyung is soft-spoken but direct. I loved the way they conveyed emotions the best, especially in the last episode when: 1) Shinwoo grabs Taekyung and asks him to leave; I could see Shinwoo's desperate hope to be loved back expressed by that bit of sadness in his almost watery eyes, I noticed his mouth slightly open as if he wanted to say something more but could not bear to do so. Taekyung stare was so sweet and comprehensive that it made me feel like he was reciprocating MY feelings. I got so emotional that I couldn't get my eyes off the screen; 2) the kiss; it was so sweet and tense! Both the fact that it was Taekyung and Shinwoo's first kiss and first relationship was expressed perfectly in that little bit of awkwardness that Yooseok and Saeon have shown in every paralinguistic and extralinguistic feature of the scene. The way they were looking at each other, the sweetness and softness of the hands movements, the fact that they were both a little bit scared of touching each other, but still wanted to feel their warmth... I felt like I was invading their privacy! It was so innocent and cute that I started crying without realizing it.

The others were amazing too. Chayi... what can I say? He was so good that my heart kept fluttering whenever he was on. He's as handsome as one can be and he portrayed a Daon that I thinks I'll have a crush on forever. I loved his character development the most (as someone who has the same exact problem!) and the fact that even in the more tense scenes he was still calm and collected. At the beginning, when Daon was still too kid to everyone, you could easily read the frustration in his eyes.
Chanyi, if you read this, give me a call and I'll cook something special for you! I'm Italian, but I can cook a pretty decent kimchi fried rice ;)

Woojin and Seohyun were the cutest, seriously! Seohyun is so pretty that she could be wearing a garbage bag and still look good in it. Woojin has the warmest smile and eyes, I just can't help smiling along whenever he's on screen. As for their performances, I think they were the most relaxed and natural on screen (maybe because their personality is similar to their characters'? I don't know). I really enjoyed their spontaneity. I even loved the fact that they didn't end up together! At the beginning I got the feeling that Namgoong had a crush on Sohee. That could easily be the case, but I liked the decision of not getting them together. It proves that they really love each other, but that a boy and a girl CAN be JUST friends. Most of the time when a guy is kind to a girl there's this expectation that they'll end up together, but that is a bit... stupid. Can't two people just be nice to each other because they care about the other person's feeling?

As for the teacher, mister Seo Haet Bit... the title of sunshine reflects his personality perfectly. He's the most soft-spoken and naive of them all and he sure is kind-hearted and cares about his students a lot. Kihyun was really suited for this role because his face is always kind and reassuring. He was kind of the "deus ex machina" character that helped everything setting in motion.

Overall, I loved how simple and clean this series was and I will definitely watch it again and recommend it to everyone I know. I found myself waiting and waiting for the next episode and now that it has ended I'm torn between wanting a second season and wanting it to end like this. A little more kissy-kissy time between Taekyung and Shinwoo would make me reaaaallly happy, as it would knowing who the he11 Lee Taesung is (!!!!!!!!), but sequels are not always the best... We'll see.
