I’m mad about the book too and was so excited when I found out it was being adapted!

another way of thinking is Chinese men usually won’t commit into a relationship if they can’t bring anything to the table. he already had so much going against him, his inferiority complex was really high.

I would say this is slow burn and very family oriented.

if you go in with the mindset that this is family oriented story and more about personal growth, rather than romance, it will make more sense. I definitely see this as slice of life and family vs romantic story.

I would have taken this review a tad more seriously if not for the fact that it keeps referencing speed and love. The only common ground both shows have is that their original novel was written by the same author. As such, surely they should be reviewed without any comparisons. Also the drama is just over halfway aired so please don’t make out as if you have watched the entire show, in fact I’m not even convinced you have seen more than a few episodes.

GXT really picks good scripts. I haven’t watched many of her shows before as usually they are quite serious but I am loving this!

pretty clear you have a bias for a specific show and trying to drag this one down even though there’s only a very weak link. not even sure why it’s warranted except maybe you are wanting to keep the focus on your favorite show. The FL in this is a very established actress with over 20 years of experience and the ML has also had reasonable success. The direction for this show is so far away from your compared drama and it’s really unneeded to make any comparisons.
hope anyone reading your review will make their own minds up.

ep 1/2, his mom mentioned she is sister/cousin relation with his mom though they are not technically blood related. sounds like his mom could be adopted.

honestly it’s a low budget production so I think they just went high level. the courtship should be coming anyway but he’s happy he has her and she’s obviously in like with him and figuring it out.

I’m pretty sure he came to win her back after he found out that she didn’t like the assist guy. and she agreed to marry him probably cos she liked him and she wanted to get married. Also the way he dared her to get married.

but he explained what happened? I thought it was quite naatly and clearly resolved.
