LIE

In the original Lovely Writer series, Gene and Nubsib's relationship was not 100% truthful. They often kept things to themselves and not tell the other what they were thinking.

Although it could be said that nothing would ever come between their love, it's normal that they would no longer be in their cute honeymoon phase after 2 years.

This special episode showed how both Nubsib and Gene chose to lie to each other, but in the end, still forgive each other and made a promise to stop scheming and lying to one another. It was a good conclusion to the original drama all in all.

We started off the episode with Gene's fears and difficulties being portrayed in his dream (as represented by the demon and glass shards). We saw the parallels of Nubsib and Gene's relationship with that of Book and his boyfriend's. We saw how hurt Gene and Nubsib felt after realising that the other had been lying to them. We saw how strong their love for each other was when they chose to talk things out and resolve them properly.

Gene's confession to Nubsib at the end was truly the highlight. Even better than a proposal if I may add.

Finally, we managed to see what happened to Aey after he turned over a new leaf.

The scenes were beautifully shot and the chemistry between Kao and Up were off the charts. They portrayed Nubsib and Gene really naturally.

The ending was really fulfilling. After watching it, we know that Nubsib and Gene's love will continue for a long time. But now, it's time for us to send Nubsib and Gene back into the fictional world.

Kudos to the production team and the actors for Lovely Writer! It's a piece that will stay with me for a long time.

Consensual, A Different Perspective

As someone that read the novel, I must say that the production crew did a wonderful job in turning this drama into a consensual one, and one that reflects many events that do happen in real life.

Nubsib ja joob, the name of the drama in Thai, means "Nubsib (the characters name) will kiss" , but also means "Count to ten and I will kiss you". I felt that it was cute how they circled the theme song around this.

This show allows the viewers to see things in a clearer light, and calls out certain wrong behaviours that we have come to normalise. I'm really thankful that it's not the "I'm not gay, only gay for you" trope, but instead, it's here to point out issues that we don't see very clearly. To some people, some parts of the story may not make sense, but after watching how the director explains the scenes, you'll come to realise how you've missed a certain point/taken the character for granted. Every single character in the story has depth and different levels of complexity. The actors were able to portray the characters really well and the music was well placed. Each rewatch allows you to notice something from the story that you've never noticed before, thus, I'd say it's worth a rewatch.
