Realistic love

There's a lot of long reviews so I'll keep it short. Should you watch this? Yes. Why? This has amazing chemistry between leads and secondary leads, it's the story that makes sense, all the characters are flawed in their own ways, but with so many important events happening in their lives and lessons they learned from other people, they change as people not just dismiss things that they learned. In a review I left for Boys Over Flowers I explain how the male lead changed for the girl not because of her and how they are different. In this drama the characters changed because of their love interests, they learned things about themselves, others and their surroundings because of their partner; which makes them better people because they wanted to change with their own free will and will continue to work on themselves. Not change for a person and only be different to that person and not for yourself and others. It's a sweet drama that makes you want more and doesn't give you a headache, I love the female lead because of this dram I went to watch her other dramas and she is an amazing actress.

There's a lot to say

Like a lot of people this was my first official k-drama, I wanted it when I was 17 and now as a 20 year old I realize the only reason I highly rated and loved it was because it was the start of my k-drama and east Asian dramas journey. This story has been made many times and I've seen all of them, the OG anime, the live action Hana Yori Dango both seasons, the Meteor Garden Chinese old and new versions and I plan to watch the Thailand version just to keep the tradition.

Boys over flowers was my favorite adaptation only because I fell in love with Lee Min Ho, and he has become one of my favourite actors even though he has been typecasted; this story is extremely toxic, point blank period. I know a lot of people have brought up the faults of this and only in recent year I realize they were right. And it's not a love story anyone should want. From start to finish, I don't they should've ended up together; Goon Joon Pyo and Geum Jan Di. She should of left after a certain incident because honestly if Joon Pyo did not look like Lee Min Ho more people would of hated him but unfortunately it's pretty privilege. He did not change because of her, he changed for her, and there's a big difference between the two. If her good nature rubbed off on him and he learned what his personality was like and how horrible he has been, he would of been a better person and character for it, however he changed just for a girl and people need to learn that if you don't want to change your bad behavior on your own will but just to please another person it means you haven't had any grown yet. And Jan Di wasn't even a good person like we see in other dramas, she was annoying, however I have a soft spot for her as a character.

It's not an excuse to be a bad person because you had a terrible childhood, we see a lot in anime or live action that our protagonist have terrible childhoods and are bullied but they are still good people, that's why we root for them but how come when it comes to a secondary lead to the to the protagonist they will have terrible childhoods but they are bad people?

I wouldn't say not to watch Boys Over Flowers because it does show you what not to do in relationships and what red flags to see. This show is a classic example what toxic romantic media we see all rapped in one show. Overall I have a soft spot for this drama, even with all it's problems I still love dan di even though she can be VERY annoying, adore Joon Pyo even though he pushed some kids to suicide and was pushy with dan di, fell in love with Ji hoo even though he was manipulative if you pay close attention and have a guilty pleasure to listening to the theme song "Almost Paradise", even though some people find it annoying. Watch it at your will.

If you like Lee Jong suk

I honestly didn't think I was going to like this as much as I did. I thought for the longest time that Lee Jong-suk was just another pretty face, but his range was amazing in this drama it really made me appreciate him as an actor. Those who are not considering watching, I would tell you to definitely give it a try, there were parts when I just wanted to stop watching, but I kept on watching because as the story carried on it was amazing. I personally love dramas that show how flawed people can be even the main characters, and how people's judgments aren't always right even if they believe the, to the fullest. This drama showed that we won't always agree with the main leads and how they are people too. At times I was made at Soo-ah (Lee Jong-suk) and Lawyer Cha (Lee Bo-Young) and others too but that just shows how great their character were written. The story has everything you need, romance, action, drama, and even comedy. The smallest things have callbacks, things as a view that I didn't even think were important, and people too.

Just the right itch

This was the itch that've been wanting, the perfect amount of cliché, corny, and cuteness. This is worth the watch, I found it enjoyable, there wasn't unnecessary misunderstandings that didn't get solved right away. The two leads have such great chemistry I forgot that I was watching a drama, the secondary characters did their jobs of me either hating them or loving them. If you're looking for something that's easy to watch, and doesn't have any unnecessary drama, cute scenes and scenes that makes you think of classic older kdrama's; this is definitely for you.

Take it lightly don't go in having high hopes

the whole drama is the phrase "never let them know your next move" n I love it for that. Listen it has it's high moments, if you're looking for a serious Japanese thriller I would recommend watching something else, I liked it because its trying to take it's self too seriously that it's funny. but it has some good quotes in it I think could mean something to you if you have experience them or think about them. It's an essay watch that makes you laugh and absolutely lose your mind because of how over the top it is.

what to say?

What can you say that hasn't been said about this k-drama. I won't say much; don't be like me and push off watching this. I love Gong Yoo because of Coffee prince he has become my favorite actor and Kim Go Eun has become one of my favorite actresses because of this drama. Their chemistry is like no other, the age difference in real life makes it feel more real in the drama. I'll just key points some of the things you will see in this beautiful drama. 1. Amazing Story line. It's just Beautiful and sad at the same time. 2. You should be ready to cry your heart out. This drama will never leave a single chance to make you cry. 3. Mind blowing Acting. All the leads as well as co-artists have done their job so beautifully and perfectly. 4. The side stories. This drama has many small stories inside it of various people which will make you smile, and also sometimes those will make you cry. 5. The production crew has done a amazing job. You will get to see that once you start the drama. 6. BROMANCEEEE between the two male lead which will make you fall in love with them. 7. The OSTs of this drama is LOVE. 8. It is not just a simple romcom or fantasy drama. You can really learn great things from it.

Something too long

I have a soft spot for this drama since it was the second k-drama I had ever watched right after Boys Over Flowers however I really did enjoyed this drama, I knocked some points off as I felt uncomfortable knowing the FL was only 14 years old at the time this was made and you could tell that she was so much younger than the school kids in her year, the ML and the love interest /triangle guardian Angel etc ages of 20 so the age gap not quite right to me. BTW FL loved her acting , she was brilliant, I did watch her recent supernatural drama on Viki and she is an accomplished young actress, mother’s character was not fit to be called a mother regardless of her circumstances. She slightly redeemed herself in the last couple of episodes just about The school bullies got away with too much and forgiven too quickly Happy ending which was nice for the main leads

Best Kind of romance

The kind of love story that makes my hearts squeal and say wish that was you huh? The love story that the guy falls first and hard. Very simple and easy to digest drama, you want to be part of the swag gang wanting their friendship but also wanting to have a relationship like theirs. The ending was so cute and their chemistry is so realistic that it makes sense why they would date irl. The way they talk about mental health is super important and it really made me feel better about my own struggles. Bok Joo’s character is amazing! She isn’t your usual girly-girl, weak and dumb female lead. She’s powerful, strong, yes a little naive, but it would be annoying if she was perfect. A lot of people criticized her style, but i found it very fresh, since she wasn’t a “normal” girl. Joon hyung.. wow.. I absolutely love him. His caring and charismatic character made me want a boyfriend like him so bad. He’s truly a cutie as well. His connection to his mom made me really sad, because in a way i can relate to him. Overall a perfect man. The three musketeers have amazing chemistry. Their friendship seems super super genuine and adorable. From heartfelt moments to casual hanging out, they’re truly the best friend group in kdrama land. The way they look into each others eyes, the way they act together. a m a z i n g. Lee Sung Kyung and Nam Joo Hyuk definitely did an amazing job. They’re my favorite actors for a reason. The storyline is really different too. I didn’t think I’d enjoy a sports drama, but surprisingly, i loved it! Bok Joo’s family story is very sweet and nice. There wasn’t too much kissing and making out either. Just enough. Not dirty at all, so really all ages could watch it. Overall.. the BEST drama of all time. Recommend it to everyone who likes heartwarming stories.

True romance

like a lot of people I loved watching this drama, I still think about it daily since I first watched it. I started watching kdrama's in 2018 it hasn't been that long, but I've seen my fair share of romance dramas; this has got to be one of the best and well written drama I've watched. This made me fall in love with Gong yoo, it's a story that makes you want to hug each character and want to be part of the found family at prince café. You get annoyed at the characters including the leads, you laugh and cry with them. If you are thinking about skipping this drama because of the premise of this, I would give it a try because it's so worth it. In the beginning I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch myself, I kept pushing it off because I'm not really a fan of a girl pretending to be a guy in dramas because it can come with it's own set of issues, but what I love about this drama is that they address this issues and it becomes a big conflict with the characters they don't just brush this off. So give it a chance.

Something for bl lovers

I liked this drama but like a lot of people, I do agree that is way too short. I felt like I couldn't really care enough about what the characters were going through. Don't get me wrong the story is well written and the two actors Son Woo Hyun (Kang Seo Joon) and Kim Kang Min ( Han Ji woo) they were great and I could tell they are good actors and you can feel that they have great chemistry as a viewer, however, it feels rushed and that there should be more included. Episodes don't have to be long as a regular Kdrama, 30 minutes at least would have been enough time to flesh out the motivations of the characters and having the audience understand why a certain scene is happening and have a bigger impact on viewers emotions to feel for the characters. I would recommend watching it because it is cute and well-acted plus some scenes are just beautifully shot, but it had me feeling like there was more in each episode that was left out.

Overhyped

Don't let the headline fool you, I am the one who over hypes this drama to anyone I recommend it to. Honestly I have no idea where to even start because I feel like if I explain my thoughts and feelings about this show it'll be a whole ass 3 page essay and I don't think anyone wants to read that. All I can say is that Song Joon Ki is the love of my life because of this drama and I've watched mostly everything he's been in because I saw this drama. Just don't even think about it and watch it, it has everything you'll ever need, crime, law, romance, comedy, found family, an extremely hot and terrifying villain. Ever since I started watching k-dramas I never was the one to really like law and crime dramas but because of Vincenzo I've been on a non-stop watching of those genres and it hasn't been the same. When I tell you this drama changed my life, it CHANGED MY LIFE. See overhyping, just go watch it, and if you don't have Netflix I'll give you my Netflix account... jk jk.. but go watch it on dramacool or watchasian. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
