So,

what I got from the episode is that Dan was forced to give them in so that they would not be killed and his parents would have not been threatened/killed. But still he could contact Black to attack the escort and try to get them away? At least I think this was it as Dan blurted fast that it was the only thing he could do to help? Or it was coincidence that Black was there and Dan saw an opening to help.

I don't really blame him, because he does not want the others to die.
