why did boston need to learn a valuable lesson in the way the rest didnt? did he spread revenge porn around and threaten people with it?// he didn't record his friends without their knowledge, spread that video to Top and then lied against his friends? He didnt use the video to manipulate people? He didn't accuse his friends of having sex, despite them insisting they did not? That video might not be porn but that may fit into the category of revenge porn depending on the POV. He was jealous of Mew and Ray. Plain and simple.

But did Boston end up alone? He is going to New York to meet his mom. That is family. He was already planning to leave Thailand, and that includes leaving his dad and friends behind anyway.
Boston did not gain happiness but who caused it? Nobody punished him and he learnt a valuable lesson at the end to aid him in his next phase.
So because he does not conform to the norm, he gets a pass for everything he did?
Every other character worked on themselves and grew but Boston did not make an attempt, and No, this has nothing to do with being non-monogamous. This has everything to do with him being an asshole and being totally selfish and manipulative.

Nick literally told him that he doesn't need to conform or force himself to conform to Monogamy. His treatment of friends/partners on the other hand, does not get as pass.

Ending up single at the end of a movie/drama/show is not the end of the world. It is not a punishment or harsh treatment.
Not all relationships end in "happily ever after". That's just fairy tale. Lol.
Being single is not a crime and breaking up is an avenue to reflect, grow, and correct past mistakes.
These guys are just 22yrs old and they just left college. They have their lives ahead of them. People will always meet new people.
This is just a show, portraying how messy humans can be in their relationships and no matter how the writers chose to end it, it will still leave some unsatisfied, because we all handle things in different ways, whether in a toxic way or healthily. It is the way the world works.

Yeah I remember. I thought it was hilarious that he filmed his friends secretly without their knowledge, used it against them, then complains about how he doesn't like being filmed without his knowledge.
I wanted him to realise that aside from himself, anyone would find it creepy when filmed without their consent or knowledge.

I'm struggling to get comfortable to watch this series and I came to the comment section to see what you all think. It really bothers me that not one comment is worried that an adult basically made a move on a minor who is in high school.
While I'm not a morality police but I wonder if this is where we have gotten to. The lines being blurred too often and now, they are being ignored?
Is that being ignored because the minor is physically bigger?
While the story and banter is interesting, I can't bring myself to enjoy it or move forward with it.

To be honest, no matter how many ways this series could have played out, it's still going to leave some people unsatisfied because we all have different opinions both real and unrealistic ones.

Boston is not a villain. He is more like a selfish and manipulative human. He becomes reactionary and defensive when he's confronted with his fuckups. Yes, he and Top both share responsibility but what Boston did was much more. He introduced Mew to Top and failed to mention that he slept with Top and still had an interest in him.
Starting from ep 3, he began his manipulation tactics. He told Ray that "Mew was still interested in him but was just using Top to make him jealous and he proceeded to tell Ray to go and fight for Mew", despite knowing that wasn't true. Then he went to Top and "showed a photo of Mew and Ray kissing" then told Top half truths and lies to make him interested.
Yes, Top was gullible and stupid, but we could see that Boston planned his actions to get that lay.
After having sex with Top, he continued "trying" to get into his pants, all these while ignoring how hurt his friend will be.
When Mew found out, he told Mew that "he only borrowed Top and without him, Mew will have never been able to get the Top-Tier".
Tell me, which friend treats their friends and speaks to them this way?
He was not remorseful and was very callous.
When Ray confronted him, he tried to gaslight Ray and planting ideas in his head, all the while acting like he was speaking about the deep thoughts Ray had in his mind. He has conveniently forgotten how he edged Ray on because even though Ray did not like Top, he never wanted to get between Top and Mew. Boston planted those ideas.
While Top worked to have Mew's forgiveness, Boston did nothing. He didn't try to approach Mew to ask for forgiveness nor sincerely repent.
Top eventually won Mew's forgiveness (even though I don't approve), and Boston waited until last episode to apologize.

See, Mew can forgive but does not need to keep Boston as a friend. If Boston doesn't change, he might sleep with another BF in the future. I will never keep such a person as a friend.
Top was basically a stranger who got to know Mew, Mew gave him a second chance and they started all over again. But Boston was a friend and has been friends with Mew for a while yet still betrayed him.
I'm scared of a friend who will take a photo of my intimate moment, never tell me about it and years later, lies and uses it to manipulate a situation to his advantage.

Boston will find people willing to be in an open relationship with him or people willing to be in a polyamorous/polygamous relationship with him because people like that exist. But if he is not truthful or upfront about it, if he does not understand boundaries and understand that some people are off limit, if he does not stop putting selfish interest above all others, if he does not stop being disrespectful to his partners, he's gonna be alone.

Before you accuse the show of being harsh with Boston and for the show of not knowing what to do with a non-monogamous character like Boston, I will implore you to find shows that features polyamorous characters who were still very loyal to their friends. Lol.

Thank you for writing about this. It was really touching and must have been hard talking about your personal experience. Yes, it did help and perhaps when I rewatch OF again, I'll look at Ray a little differently.
Honestly, it is not hard to understand Ray but the problem was, most of his attitude towards Sand and the general public just couldn't be excused by his mental health issues.
Like you said, when the Sand like person came into your life, you didn't behave like your toxic past self (even though you still made mistakes) but with Ray, it was different which is why it was hard for people to keep understanding and defending him.
