Nice historical mystery with some romance.

I find this drama being a steady 8/10. Not perfect, but definitely not deserving the harsh negative reviews.

Bellow is my opinion regarding some points of the negative reviews:
1. Misleading poster: Somehow right, however only in the description of the Jae Yi character. She is actually far from devoted future wife and mother, being mischievous (in a good way) and with very modern understanding of the woman place in the society.
2. It is a mystery drama with none or very slow burn romance: Yes, I agree, romance is left more on our imagination than actual romantic scenes. While we would be happy to see more romantic scenes , we should take in consideration the story. Both lead characters cannot imagine having chance as a couple, hence the withdrawal from expressing their feelings. First, due to the historical setting, there are strict rules of who can be Crown Princess and our FL doesn’t answer the criteria. Second, the ML believes she belongs to another man.
3. Holes in the mystery story and poor writing: I disagree, all of the complaining reviewers are forgetting of the tombstone Jae Yi’s father found! That piece of stone is the connection. The other complain was for non developing the fantasy part - it had an explanation, just pay attention to final 3 episodes (not willing to spoil).

In fact all negative reviews dropped the drama in the middle, the unraveling is happening at the end :)

Acting is spot on!

You can feel the butterflies

A true romantic drama with lots of heart melting scenes, beautiful, long kisses, realistic behaviour and circumstances.
There is no love triangles, dumb misunderstandings or cinderella bul$#@^. It is REAL, possible and adequate.

Amazing acting and perfect music, nicely synchronized! You can’t help but smile with the actors, get angry with the actors, hate, blame, resent…

There are 3 parallel topics to explore:
1. The romance is about falling in love with someone you knew forever but just like the butterflies happens to reveal a side you never imagined seeing. There is a relatively big ( about 10 years) age gap (younger man with older women) but it doesn’t feel awkward. The cast is more than perfect! They look good together and the chemistry is REAL!!! You can feel the butterflies in your stomach when they try to touch their hands!
I wasn’t able to binge it! It was so sweet, like being in candy shop.. You can’t eat all candies at once and in same time you don’t want to, you want to keep some for later.

2. The Workplace abuse (sexual harassment) is the side plot. Very down-to-earth and realistically portrayed. There is not a valiant exactly, just the issue exploration. If you have worked in a corporate place, and happen to have some sort of workplace abuse, I bet you have seen it unfolding pretty much that way.

3. The nasty parent…. well, I happen to live with such mother in law already 20 years… it is not over exaggerated !

NOW, the ending! I read many reviews hating the ending and I was very anxious about it. For 16 episodes I was preparing myself to get disappointed…. NOPE !!
I have NO idea what kind of ending those negative reviewers were expecting, but the ends is just as beautiful as the love they had. I am only complaining it being short. I would have preferred to see them happy for just a little bit longer.

Overal: Loved it!

Not for traditionalists!

If you throw What’s wrong with secretary Kim, Business proposal and Strong woman Do Bong Soon in a pot, the Love to hate you will probably be the result!
If you like smart badass women and kind and brave men - you must watch it (and read below).
If you are traditional patriarchal type, who believes girls have to be weak and modest, borderline dumb but pretty and the boys have to be the hero of the society - don’t waste your time, it won’t be your cup of tea.

Dressed as a typical rom-com, this drama deals with very real and hot topics such as sexism, gender equity, cancel culture, social media harassment, right of privacy, and so on! All of it shown with lots of hilarious scenes and really swoon worthy moments!
Wrapped in just 10 episodes it shows the struggle of two people traumatized by the two side of the same social problem.
The FL is a smart and strong lawyer who rebels against the gender inequality. She fights, dates freely, and refuses to be seen as weak/shy/dumb girl.
The ML is successful actor who has anxiety being with a women. Yet when he gets over it, he is judged for his lover.
There is a reason behind their condition/behaviour, yet they face the reality being judged by the society.

Apart from the social issues, this drama is very light and binge worthy.
It is pure joy to see some real, modern day dating behaviour and not the dead fish kiss scenes of so many other Kdramas.

Personally, I started watching it because I read 2 completely opposite reviews. One was saying it is a very funny, light and binge worthy drama that deserves 10 stars and the other who hated it, gave 1 star and accused the FL of being a slut.
Such differences in opinions for the same thing is quite curious.
First episode is yes, provoking some mixed thoughts but then everything unfolds and takes its place. To me, it deserves 10 stars and is TOTALLY worth it!

Very good sci-fi drama, go for it!

I was planing on rating it with 10, the rushed ending made me change my mind, otherwise excellent drama!
It was refreshing to watch a K drama free of so many irritating cliches!
It has excellent modern plot, well written and executed perfectly!

Finally to see 18 episodes free of screaming, nagging and always miserable parents.
There is no medieval traditions, still exercised in 21st! I
Fast paced, without meaningless episodes.
Melodrama free, love-triangles free, and stupid misunderstanding FREE romance!

Now the elephant in the room: You MUST watch it open-minded!
I was avoiding it for long time due to not being sure I can understand, let alone enjoy a love story between a human and a robot, actually still don’t understand it, yet, I have enjoyed every single minute of it and rooted for the tin can guy all the time!
Of course, there are many questions that risen while watching: How they will develop as a couple (i.e. the sex); how they will handle her aging, will she be happy and still loving him in 10 years, and so on. I would have been totally satisfied and happy to see some magic, pinocchio style ending, but that is just me ;)

The ending didn’t match the rest though……it’s not bad, but still a shame for such binge worthy drama!

Be careful what you wish for.

The drama is not bad, just nothing special in the way it was executed. The overall rating of 7.4 is pretty accurate! If you have nothing else to watch, give it a try.
It is watchable but predictable, It would have been nice to have some plot twists…or if it wrapped up in 10 episodes.
What was bad:
The only interesting character (the half human/half god) was left completely underused and not developed at all! Even the most easy development, the love triangle, wasn’t used.
Randomly popping deities acting super childish.
The 2 main characters were quite literally...stupid… sorry
Seemingly a Happy ending, so long as you don’t try to think about it. They literally left a never aging(immortal) handsome young looking god to live with the girl until she gets old, wrinkly and then dies!!!! Well, she got what she wished for!
The two side couples were beheaded, a major waste of potential!
All in all, if the side characters got a little more love from the producers and someone made the FL a demi god, or at least some sort of immortal, it would be a better drama.

A keepsake

What a lighthearted, funny and entertaining drama! Loved it from the start to finish. I was waiting for such drama ever since the hilarious Mr.Queen was released in 2020.
Its only downside was that it aired at the same time with Alchemy of souls 2 and wasn’t able to get the true spotlight it deserves !
If you like quirky notes, random laugh, eye candy actors, spot on acting romantic Kdramas, TFM is a must watch!
While set in historical time, it has nothing to do with specific history or true events. Quite opposite, it has modern vibes and quite a few parody scenes.
Not too much political, not too much melodramatic, just the right amount of side stories.
ATTENTION: VERY STRONG SECOND LEAD SYNDROME!

Highly recommend!

Road to nowhere

Short and watchable “little” drama, however, it felt flat for me.
Started watching because of Kim Woo Seok and after reading couple of reviews comparing it to Goblin.
It didn’t give me such vibes at all other that Deity being involved in the story.
Pros:
*It has characters development
* It is not 100% predictable
Cons:
* endless circling storyline
* Questionable ending

Cinematographic masterpiece, not a regular drama

It is a pure cinematographic art that has to be watched with certain premises:
1. Do not expect regular K drama, that will entertain you with cheesy storyline.
2. Watch it using a “third “ eye , many hidden messages and deeper meanings are weaved into simple or even meaningless scenes.
3. Do not try to predict or get attached to a certain ending.
4. If you are not “getting” it, better put on hold and come back later to enjoy when you will be ready to read between the lines.
Rich and intensive storyline with entirely open ending. Astonishing acting. Extraordinary cast.

Must watch! Tru gem

There are virtually no flaws in this drama! It delivers everything you may ask for from medical/historical/romance!
It has comic moments, hardships, losses, beautiful love story!
I especially enjoyed:
1. Absolute 10 stars acting and cast!!
2. Unquestionable chemistry between ML and FL! First time a simple stare can satisfy my romance craving enough to overlook the lack of kisses :)
3. Well written story with no big holes
4. Totally no unsupportive relatives or other weird family/rivals melodrama.
5. The happy ending :)))) in all possible ways!

There is no actual negative point, but 13 to 15 episode was a little boring due to prediction. Despite being well played, I kind of expected everything and wasn’t much entertained but still find it perfect!
The other little downside is the time travel side of the story, I am against using self-harm/suicide/medical help to dye no matter what the reason.
I am wondering what other drama aired at the same time to overpower this underrated drama gem?!?

Not a typical K drama

A good choice if you need to watch something romantic and not too complicated. I would describe is as the sip of water you need to clear you taste between two wine tastings. The fantasy/supernatural part is mellow, almost believable. The main couple is in their late 30s and the love story is surprisingly mature. Up to the 10th episode it was competing to be one of my favourite dramas with almost 10 out of 10 on everything . It lost with the emotionally unsatisfying ending and weird wrap-up of the murder story…but still worth the time invested in it.
The good:
- Awesome acting! Every single character was totally believable.
- Beautifully unfolding story (up to 10th episode), the second and third couple were interesting as well.
- Grown up relationship without stupid misunderstandings.
- Lots of skinship in a good way with true chemistry!
- No dragging stories or melodrama, no childish expectations and NO un supporting parents (I am sick of it).
- No love triangles (the SML and SFL clearly had no chance).

The bad:
- the unsatisfying ending. It is like eating délicieuse food to find a hair in the last bite. Technically it is not a bad ending.
- the murder story….. somehow it missed on the potential and was all unfolded/resolved in one episode.

Business and comedy, not romance

I was twice tempted to put this drama on hold and move it to the (never) “watch the rest of it later” List, but in general, I am happy I have finished it.
First, I think it is wrongly labeled as Romance! There is Business, Comedy, Drama, Gaming, Influencing, etc. but definitely NO romance. It is simply fraud to call it romantic with just 2 min. weird, out of the line , supposedly romantic scene.
If you don’t have any expectations for romance, then it is actually very good business/comedy drama.
THE GOOD (again, if we take the romantic label out of the equation)
1. Sung Hoon
2. Read the No.1 , again :)
3. Good gaming, business drama with actual suspense!
4. Strangely enough the irritable female characters (all 3 of them) were pretty believable, they honestly walk on your nerves the entire series :)
5. A nice ending, far from exciting, but definitely satisfying.
6. The last episode! It repays for the lacking, previous 11 episodes .

THE BAD
1. The sound team did terrible job dubbing the eating sounds. It revokes disgusting feelings every time someone eats.
2. Well, the the false expectations of romance and the zero chemistry between the main characters.

Overall, I started it to satisfy my Sung Hoon craving and to wash off the aftertaste of my awful experience with Woori the virgin and I got it, Sung Hoon is definitely the star of this drama.

Abandon hope all ye who enter her

Watched till the end, dearly HOPING to see something that will justify the TOTAL waste of my time!
It starts strong, building a pile of expectations, to then kill you with boredom.
The weird mix of badly written melodrama with pointless thriller/crime drama made me sick to death.
Epic fail on both plots! Most of the scenes make no sense at all, like written by 1st grade student with attention difficult disorder. It even has drops of comedy in it, just to add to the oddness.
Romance is annoying and bizarre... even unhealthy at times. There is no clear ML and SML .
Lacklustre and disappointing !
At least it triggers tons of emotions.... of anger, disappointment and frustration :) after finishing the drama.
After hundreds of dramas this was the one that made me write a review.

When you need good romance with no drama!

Rewatched it twice only few months apart, it is definitely one of the best feel good K-drama romance series.
You can enjoy the romance pretty well from the beginning.
There is no stupid misunderstandings and problems are sorted out quickly.
No yelling and opposing parents (at least for the main couple).
The FL is emotionally strong and brave woman, not a dumb crybaby.
The ML is nice and forgiving without being softie
The story is unusual and make sense almost all the time (very very rare for kdrama)
There are no big wholes in script.
The focus is on the main couple and the side characters are really supporting the story well.
There is no nerve wracking vilain (the bad guys characters are actually believable).
Awesome series!

easy watch, keeps you hooked

The best is the ending! Unlike most of the kdrama where the ending is rushed and you feel like missing something, this one was wrapped up so nicely that satisfies all sort of expectations.
Beautifully executed action scenes!
So many twists that keep you hooked to the end.
Multiple couples, so you can choose your favourite one :) if the mains are not your best.

Meh … not bad if you don’t have anything else to watch

Started watching simply because people compare it to Something in the Rain, that I loved watching.
It was’t bad, but nothing special, a pure 7.5 (not too bad to drop it and not too good to get excited).

THE GOOD
1. Good cast and decent acting
2. Awesome cinematography and music
3. Some breaks in drama cliché (nice to see a supportive mother!)

THE BAD
1. No couples chemistry, for none of the couples including the leads…. It is not bad acting, just they somehow don’t belong together. And, this is the biggest difference with SITR where the chemistry was literally leaking from the screen.
2. Endless dragging into same issue
3. Way too real, almost felt like watching a boring reality show

P.s. I loved the ML special, innocent and playful smile in SITR, and hoped to see it same in OSN, but did not get it :(
