An another level drama

An another level drama. A masterpiece.
I think it will be one of the top drama in my list. Top Kdrama 2023.
Very beautiful drama.

Watching this feels like I really feel the sound of flowers, the sound of wave, the sound of wind, the sound of snow.

Every bit of silent momen in this drama is beautiful and elegant.

This drama is rewatchable, but not in the near future, it takes a lot of energy to watch it.

And I can also confirm that I got post-traumatic drama disorder after watching this.

Looks like I need a cheap romcom drama after watching this.

Soulless and Dull

This drama has great plot potential but I really hate the writing which is stiff, soulless and dull.

This is actually a mystery drama, but because of the poor presentation and writing, it just feels like watching a cheap soap opera. All the patterns are shown clearly, so the audience doesn't have to bother guessing them.

Every scene is written like just reading a school history book. There is no soul in it. The author just wants to complete the content of the story.

Ah, I need 3 weeks to finish this drama.

Luckily ML and SML were able to act well. Even though FL's acting isn't as good as ML's but yeah they still have a little chemistry

Supernatural Mystery Drama with a pinch of slice of life story.

Supernatural Mystery Drama with a pinch of slice of life story.

Maybe before starting the review, I will give a small warning for those who want to watch dramas from city states like Taiwan or Singapore. Dramas from there usually rely heavily on Plot and Story Writing. Most of them will have outdated backsound and cinematography. So watching it will feel like watching a drama from 10 years ago or less.

The plot of this drama tells about human obsession that causes supernatural things. In its journey, it will be very thick telling about human obsession and its consequences.

Mystery is the driving force of this drama from beginning to end. Although not too deep, it is enough to keep the audience watching this drama until the end.

What makes this drama have high value apart from the interesting plot, the writing of each subplot is really great. Some subplots you even need to prepare tissues.

The relationship between the 3 characters in this drama is very adorable. It is very interesting to see them interact. It seems like this drama needs season 2.
I will happily watch it again.

Cheesy Drama with Forced Elements of Modern Comedy.

I give a warning to those of you who want to watch this drama. This drama is a fairly chessy drama with forced elements of modern comedy.

The touch of the modern world, modern behavior and thinking which is quite strong makes this drama feel quite unreal.

Personally, it's quite difficult for me to digest, especially the first 3 episodes. The behavior of a king is often out of character. As well as FML's behavior as a royal servant. This is actually quite excessive for a saeguk themed drama. Especially it appears in comedic scenes.

Don't get me wrong,
I personally am not against comedy elements in saeguk but here, it feels presented excessively and inappropriately so it doesn't feel real. However, after the first 3 episodes, the unreal element begins to decrease (although it is still slightly present) and the drama begins to be enjoyable.

Apart from the problems above, the romantic scenes and intense scenes are shown well. I blushed when the romantic scene started to appear. The plot and writing of this drama are actually simple and not too deep. But enough to be enjoyed until the end. The acting is also quite good even though it's not memorable.

Saeguk of The Year (2021)

When watching Korean historical dramas (saeguk). Always prepare yourself for something that ends badly.

Moreover, all the main roles are recorded "historical figures". Unless the addition of fantasy elements. They will proceed as history should.

When reading many histories of Korean kings and their families, there are many tragedies. Even the king of this series, whose story was not shown later, died in a tragic controversy.

Some writer even need to "refine" the story so as not to cause problems or controversy among Korean audiences.

Can there really be a "happy ending"?, it's possible, especially when the writer decides the drama is over before tragedy strikes.

But not with this drama, because of its popularity in Korea, the production decided to add 1 episode and decided to continue the story until the tragedies appeared.

So my advice if you decide for a pseudo-happy ending, just stop watching at episode 16.

But I'm sure, its rare for someone to hold back their curiosity.

Let's back to the review.

The plot of the story is very well written and enhanced by proper acting direction.

The pace of the story and each scene tends to be slow and long. Especially towards the end of the story. I personally really enjoyed it because ML and FL's acting was good. However, I personally understand that some people don't like slow pace.

The tone of the story and the atmosphere of the story tend to be mellow and sad. The audience will always be drawn into this atmosphere, even during happy scenes, there will always be an atmosphere like this so it feels bittersweet. Well, because this is saeguk melodrama, this is how it should be.

Best TIMELOOPS Drama

What a journey to watch this...??

The problem with Timeloops is the fear of boredom due to repetition.

What's more, this is a drama with 14 episodes, not a movie.

However, no.

One repeating day turns out to have different experiences and even sideplot themes. Even with a different tone of atmosphere.

Goodjob who wrote and produced this drama.
10/10 for the experience.

Consistent Good Scene writing and Humour.

This show has good cinematography, consistent excellent scene writing, and humour.

I thought after reading that there would be repetition of time travel many times which would make the story repetitive so it would end up boring. Turns out I was wrong. There were 4 times of time travel to the past, but 3 of them came to different times. The fourth (last) is just a flashback. The story telling in the future is also the same, the 4 futures have different situations and atmospheres.

There are some minor plot hole.
From that time travel situation.
But just minor plot hole.
And, Its typical Rom-com fantasy drama.
What do you expect?
Some minor plot hole sometimes necessary too exagrate the scene.

As long as it serves the purpose it was created for and fulfills its function and is "served" well as a rom-com. I won't expect more, let alone go beyond their's goal.

Watching this, I was giggling in my room while blushing at the scenes in each episode. This drama is one of the rom-com dramas that I rarely "fast forward".

I personally have watched a lot of rom-coms, this drama is one of the best. All scenes are presented well. There are many romcoms that try to be funny and want to depict a romantic atmosphere. But they failed miserably.

The Best Healing Drama

This is actually a drama with a very heavy "Theme".

But, Hold on.

This is a Rom-Com drama!. How could that be?

This drama takes a humorous route to explain mental illness. However, with the humorous and witty tone of the story, there is hidden sadness and suppressed emotions in the layers of the story.

Like a human who goes out wearing a mask to meet other people. This drama uses a mask of cheerfulness to tell the story of sadness and the hardships of mental disorders.

Because of this storytelling technique, the layers of the scene between sad and happy have almost no boundaries. Emotions change quickly even within one scene.

And even though this is a Rom-Com Drama. This is clearly an "adult drama" not in terms of "age" but "mentally". You must to go through several points of events mentally in your lives. At least to enjoy this drama "meaningfully".

Even though the setting of this drama includes hospitals and psychiatric clinics, the depiction in this drama is only superficial.

Aspects of mental health terminology and therapy in this drama use a literal approach rather than a practical approach with some dramatization.

But, yeah, I forgive that. Almost all hospital dramas are like that, even high-budget western dramas are like that, practically it's quite difficult to do, that's how it is.

Wow, such a journey.

Its drama from 10 years ago. But I dare to say, this is the best healing drama. Oh wait minutes, 10 years ago there was no such thing as "healing" term.?

It is what it is

Sometimes, there are times. When I'm tired, after watching dramas with heavy themes, thick plots, or dramas that drain tears and make my chest tight. Well, this drama is the answer.

Sometimes I need a dose of chuckles and shy smiles watching a drama. A romcom is a romcom, it is what it is. I personally will judge romcoms through romcom glasses.

This drama is able to present it well.
I watched it with a chuckles and shy smiles.

A good Manga Adaptation.

I love this manga adaptation. I have read the manga, although the "character writing" of the main character (Shi Guang/Hikaru) is different from the manga. But I like it. Hikaru's initially calm character turns into a cheerful and goofy one. But the goofiness makes the story more lively.

Actually, the real manga is short. So there will be a lot of filler episodes, but most of the filler episodes don't feel like filler. Some episodes support story progress and character development. Except for a few episodes at the end. it felt a bit dragging.

But overall it is very good adaptation.
For overall experience i give it 9.5/10.
GOOD JOB.
