I had already thought I had watched 99 per cent of Korean historical dramas (except for those that had extremely blurry vision) but this drama was so enjoyable, that every episode had me addicted. The ML is very handsome and so suited to his role which I found out later was his first drama act. Well done!!!!!. The FL is very pretty and their chemistry was bang-on except I felt cheated that kissing scenes were hidden or not enough of. I suppose that may have been because it was made in 2011. My best part was when the ML burst into the chambers after the FL ceremony and cried so hard wrapped around her legs. I had started to dislike the FL as her treatment against ML was starting to become very cruel. I felt she was quite snobby towards people and looking back she may have been able to clear up the matter of her who her parents were a lot sooner. Also, her full submission to her father-in-law pre and post-birth he did not deserve and her real parents should have been given that first year. As for the ghost? I felt spoilt the story and was unnecessary. though it was funny at times. I was so happy ML or FL did not sway to other males and females as other drams do, especially the ML who just adored FL all the way through. I did feel his reaction to his father about the cap which caused him to break up with FL was over the top and too random as they had already enjoyed a day out the day before. I felt so heartbroken for her when it happened though. I despise it when M Leads breaks up with cruel words/lies. I was happy that the nasty ones did not carry on being nasty after their first defeat, they would just shrug their shoulders pretty much and move on. Yay!!! I also felt the adopted couple didn't deserve to be killed off, the father was still a loving father to FL though submissive to the new wife. The most thrilling part where I was screaming at the tv was when the parents had an accident on the wedding day and I honestly thought the wedding would be called off due to the bride having to go to the hospital but wow wow wow it ended up being her real dad taking her down the aisle and real mum being a mother repacement. Loved loved this drama. 10/10 for me.

Yeah it was her fault she lost the baby, insisting on travelling by horse with the king when she should have gone somewhere else safely. I like the ministers daughter, she will be the one to stand up for and encourage the king.

I've watched many historicals where the empress/queen is not allowed to interfere with politics. Even though she advises the king behind doors she is trying to dominate him. She has a nasty nature and looking at the previews this dark side is ready to come forth. Queens are not allowed to be jealous. She is using politics to get rid of the girl and her father but secretly is jealous. Why is she not jealous of her sister? I too didn't like the way how the minister of punishments was going about things, but he points out ever so truthfully that every single one of them including the king has dipped into dishonesty for the cause. As for Kam Chnag, he did a lot of wrong things but I think he forgets who the king is, and stands over him. Those bastards put that young boy up there but get unhappy if he does anything against them. Loving the king and his actor.

also the mob is way overdone as well lols

Oh I dont mind old people romance one bit, I soppose I just want the demon drama to be more bad az than having the secretaries and the mob doing some real stupid stuff.

Fantastic episode!!! Tears galore. Regarding the empress. There aren't many historicals where they show the king doting on his queen, especially his first queen which normally is an arranged political marriage but this king loves his empress very much. I'm wondering then if she is going to be ok towards the new consort about to come in. They both can support the king in different ways politically.

yes keep watching. this is a lifetime series, where all actors are made to look different ages as the storyline progresses throughout. Though your boring could be different to my version of boring hehehe.

I was all for her but she should have remained humble and kind, instead she chose to be nasty and jealous from the moment she met Yeohwa. She was very presumptuous and rude to the Baekje royalty and people.

I made the mistake of posting a comment halfway through this drama full of resentment. The love triangle affects the rest of story and it is amazing how one could love and hate each character throughout the drama. I tended to read Wikipedia about this king too and boy, I could not fathom how he was going to be crown prince with so much opposition as the drama went on. Well done to you all. For a drama made in the early 2000's this has got to be one of the most epic Korean dramas I have seen since Empress Ki. TO whoever does your makeup, I deeply respect to you all, you could make one actor/actress any age the story needed. Well done.

Songi was demented stalker, who couldnt accept he didnt love her at all. shameless the way she chases him around whilst still married with children. greedy and nasty.

That Song-i is the worse narcisisst I have ever watched!!!!!!!! So full of herself!!!!! and Kim Jun all hesays is miss miss miss miss no bloody backbone!!!!!!!!

The best part was you never knew what was going to happen next, especially when they got together in love cause you knew it wont last for long!!! I still say to this day, I have one and only one complaint and thats when that princess kissed him. I have been corrected by other viewers that it wasnt a kiss, because ML lips did not respond back but still....I didnt want her lips anywhere near him lols she grossed me out.

Yay!!!!!!! Congratulations from New Zealand, this was the best historical I have seen!!!!! I have watched most korea historicals and it was a nice change to watch a drama from the perspective of prisoners of war. The two leads were new to me and they played their roles perfecto. I feel so empty now its finished I even have their main tune over and over in my head. Love love love. <3

You need to remember it's a 2009 drama and the acting then was over the top at times. Though I have watched k/historicals around that time such as Empress Ki and they seem to get better each year. I never would have watched this drama because I dodged any dramas before 2010 but I am currently watching the new 2023 k/historical Goryeo-Khitian War which is the same period of time and the same people (King Taejo and his descendants) and it is really interesting to watch both at the same time alongside Wikipedia lols I note a lot of royalty over the many many years seem to die really young and with kings remaining not very long periods. I would put that down to long-term stress being a factor!! Wouldnt of been a very happy life having to look over your shoulder 24/7 trying not to be killed.

So who got sucked in and thought it was Gil Chae and Jang Hyun getting married towards the end hahahaha and I got so nervous because everything was so happy and laughing I really expected the palace gang to come in and spoil everything. Yeon Jun has always been a weak hypocrite and very jealous of Jang Hyun. He secretly loved Gil Chae for years so what is he going on about? I dont want to watch 11. See how strong I ma tomorrow.
