The only problem was the leads
The storylines of the secondary leads were all pretty good and complelling byt unfortunately, the writers underdeveloped those in favor of one a shitty main story line between two unbearable characters. As a man i absolutely hate the type of guy that the ML was and how he just let her walk all over him throughout the entire show. That was not love, that was masochistic obsession. I dont have much to say about the FL but she was never held accountable for anything bad she did throughout the show so i kinda hate her too. I came here because people told me it was like One Spring Night and i decided to check it out since im in need of that type of grim drama with a sense of realism but this was just an assortment of unlikable characters.Was this review helpful to you?
Waste of time
Everytime i think about how i managed to finish this drama i feel immense shame. Character development was non existent as nothing the character did made any sense and they just did not have personalities of their own. On top of that, its like they took everything interesting out and we were left with this abomination thats as fun as getting my wisdom teeth getting taken out.The worst part of it is, other than being boring and nonsensical, the last episode might just be the WORST episode of EVERY single show that has ever aired, somehow this disappointed me more than the game of thrones finale did.

Terrible Female characters
Let me say that there are plenty of cdramas out there where the ML does not deserve the FL because how he treats her is just borderline. This drama is about a 32 year old woman who deserves to die single. Throughout the entire show she basically had one foot out of the door and basically treated him like eye candy.I am actually very upset that there are screenwriters out there who would write a character so outrageous and in my personal opinion neglectful over a man she supposedly loves. It wouldnt be such a big deal except the writers kept bailing her out and she basically just sit back and relax while the ML did the fighting for the relationship.
If yall wanna watch a drama about an older woman who is actually respectful of their partner watch Love Scenery or if you wanna watch a kdrama watch encounter.
I dont really want to get into the other female characters but the only one decently written was the MLs stepmom
But other than that the writing, i liked everything else about it. But even victoria songs superb acting couldnt save this garbage script. She must have only read the first episode before she took the role, the only decent episode story wise!!

A mature and grim drama
Let me start of by saying that my rating is probably higher than it should be but this show just came at a perfect time. For all the wonderful dramas that are made in china there is a serious shortage in mature leads who dont have to act like 10 year olds for comedic effect.This show is set in such a realistic setting that you would think that it actually happened in real life, down to the very ending.
That said this show has a million flaws and definitely not suited for everyone, but if youre like me and just wanna watch a serious drama focusing on marriage that dosent go stupid with the melodrama forced into it, i would day try this out

I liked it more than i should have
Okay so if i was being completely objective i would give this show a 7/10 at most. Honestly speaking though, episode 1 through to around episode 9 i think, this was by far my favorite kdrama ever and i just couldnt get enough of it.Unfortunately, the second half of the drama in my opinion completely lost the magic that could draw anyone in and it was like if the writers room was like "ok, so we've done a lot of character development, its time to turn up the melodrama!!" And they sure did.
That said i am a sucker for anything the FL does and this is no different, her smile is just too much for me

Only flaw was the start
As it says in the headline, the only flaw is how freaking long it takes for the story to finally start. Honeslty i could go into a pretty vicious rant about how i hate the type of drama where the intro spoils shit that happens 3/4 into the drama!!! But i know that that is a lot of them so i wont bring this up here.There are way too many ideas for the first few (quite a lot) episodes and essentially nothing happens for quite a while. I think that the first episode i genuinely enjoyed after episode was in the late teens!!! So for those going into this just prepare yourself, this makes those 60 episode wuxia slow burn romances look like they are moving at the speed of light.
Now that being said, i just adore the look and vibe of this drama and also the entire cast. That is what helped me push threw the first bunch of episodes but once this show got going it instantly became top 3 fav cdrama for me. The show just became perfect in many ways and i just felt like it was a completely different show with the same characters
I understand some people having a problem with the FL but i absolutely loved her for what she was. She is basically a woman who has been helped every step of the way for basically her whole life and had never really faced any real hardship, especially when it comes to her career since she had a top exec simping for her and protecting her. This may not be what some people like but this woman has been loved and protected her whole life so her acting the way she does is only natural. Contrast that with the best friend and you'll see what i mean
I am recommending this to all of you once you've gone through your whole watchlist because this is one where you shouldnt watch it if youre in a rush, but i promise you, it is worth it

Cute feel good cdrama
Perfect in almost evey way except the FL is a little young in my opinion but she is a great actress. Thats just a nitpick though since this was near perfection for what its supposed to be, just a cute feel good cdramaMy only complaint is are the scenes that show their wedding day at the very beginning but thats just a nitpick.
I have to say that the writing on this thing was spectacular and i have to commend the writers for writings such complete characters who never felt out of place.
The chemistry between the leads is astounding and they just feel like natural best friends in my opinion, which is why it feels right for this drama to have a healthy mains tag for it.
If youre coming from one of those CEO dramas where the FL ends up with the Toxic but somehow loveable ML and youve grown tired of that, then you've come to the right place. This has ruined so many cdramas for me because it has shown me that a badass ML that is respectful towards all women can actually exist, now i absolutely cannot stomach watching toxic/clingy/borderline abusive male leads

Pretty cute show
Absolutely love the female lead, ML was alright but he makes up for it with how hot he is (i am a straight guy so im not saying this lightly ) since this is a cute amd light show which didn't need much it make it good.That being said, the first 15 episodes might have one of my top viewing experiences ever because of how fast paced eveything was and it felt like there was no filler. After that it slowed down a little bit but still a cute comedy.
Gonna rewatch this in a few months time, which is the highest recommendation i can give to non action cdramas as of late

Overstretched and repetitive plotline
This show really could have been 20 tightly run episodes and it wouldve been a masterpiece because the first 20 minutes of this really draws you into this world, after that the plot just runs around in circles and if you skip a couple of episodes it dosent feel like you missed anything ( i did that)My biggest problem of this show is han zimo, since this is spoiler free all i am going to say is that he starts out as one of the most annonying character that have ever graved my screen and in the end.... HE STILL IS!
Han zimo is the embodiment of those jerk/abusive/toxic/annoying/clingy male leads in rich guy Cdramas if they never got their character growth.
Great job to the actor but im never rewarchung this again because i just hate how that character was written since he wasnt even initially an antagonist in this so so i felt bad hating him more than everyone who was actually being bad
Also, ALL of the relationships in this show are toxic and we never got to see a healthy one
Now that ive finished writing this ive changed my opinion, i dont like this show

It was an average show
For those of you who came here after reading the books you huys are gonna be solely disappointed. This show loses most of what makes the novel great and part of that could be how they condensed the story but also they changed certain elements of the world which made so many characters inconsistent, especially if you've read the book where they've been all fleshed outAlso, these guys must be taking notes from hollywood since they decided to cast actors all looking like they are in their 30s as 16 year olds
Sadly though, this is the only adaptation from a wuxia that i was able to sit through so it is atleast more watchable than fight breaks sphere(makes me upset whenever i think about it).
The biggest problem i have with this show though is how the ML has taken a backseat to the story and this are just happening to him with no agency whatsoever. Also the focus on the side characters is just ridiculously too much. If they had just adapted solely Qin wentian story without condensing it, then it would have been 100 episodes easy, but now you wanna adapt and fucking removes the elements of the story that actually build on the ML, it just pisses me off. I could go on and on about this but im sure yall get the gist of my feelings towards this show. In short, if i hadnt read the book, i would like it more than i do
