Zone Zero consolidates Yeon Sang-ho as one of the great contemporary masters of catastrophe horror. Although it flutters with classic tropes of the genre, the feature film stands out for its inventiveness in mutating the threat, the consistency of the screenplay—co-written with Choi Gyu-seok—and for keeping the adrenaline high from the first to the last minute. It is a full plate for fans of suspense, action, and survival sci-fi.
