I have ever been of the opinion that a small portion of magic greatly improves one’s life; and thus have I remained steadfast in my devotion to enchanted tales, romantic fancies, and every variety of improbable happy conclusion. Give me but a cold rain, the fragrance of the damp earth, its gentle music upon the gutter, accompanied by something warm and sweet, and I shall be perfectly content to indulge in my dreams.

With Mr Darcy and a certain most charming genie, named Cyrus, occupying the most distinguished corner of my affections, I confess there is but little hope of my ever becoming sensible. Curiosity, romance, and an attachment to the impossible have performed their work upon me most thoroughly.
