You are not the only one :). The wife and the concubines don't bother me, especially since I read the novel. But given the time and the place of the drama they wouldn't bother me even if I hadn't.

I actually thought that for a c-drama they didn't put a lot of effort into world building and jumped straight into action. I read the novel so it was fine with me, but if I hadn't, it would have been rather confusing.

If they do to this what they did to Kill Me Love Me, I will be really unhappy. Hopefully they won't because that would be... repetitive.

Yeah, even with the express package it's only 4 episodes which probably means 1 episode a day. Ugh.

What basically happens in the begging is he sees her in the brothel, thinks she is drugged and is going to die anyway and decides to indulge himself. The novel is ... very 18+.

Anyone who is complaining about the wife and the concubines should read the novel, it explains who the wife and concubines are, why they are there and what relationship Shen Zaiye has with them. Although frankly I almost gave up on the novel in the very beginning. I have no issues with a harem. Rape is a big e**ing problem.

I like it so far although I am with those who is not happy about the lead actor's real voice not being used.

I thought In Blossom was fantastic. Kill Me Love Me I could have lived with but for the ending (unless it's a Nirvana in Fire type/quality story/production, zi don't do SE, life is hard enough already). As for the rest, I very rarely watch true xianxia, so haven't seen them.

It's weird because I can see A Dream Within a Dream on IQIYI in my region but can't see previews for this on Tencent although I can see the preview for the Legend of the Female General. We will see, I guess.

I really enjoyed the lead actor in In Blossom, very underrated, IMO, really looking forward to this.

Correct. When ZH confronted ZZX , the latter admitted that he cooperated with ZBW because ZBW could give him what he wanted, i. e. ZBW could help him rise and revive the Zhuang family, whereas ZH was responsible for his father's downfall and ZZX loved his father regardless of how he treated ZZX's mother and ZZZ himself. No, in the end, ZZX was not sincere to ZH before he went to the border even though he certainly acted sincere at the time.

There could have been several reasons for this. First, while I don't claim to understand it, loyalty to one's Lord and master was huge in ancient Chinese culture and that is what ZBW was to Gaio Ming, especially since ZBW had saved his life. Another factor could be simple denial - until Gao Ming was confronted with the fact that ZBW was about to kill Zang Hai he was not willing to acknowledge, even to himself, that it would eventually happen - it was easier for him to live that way. Remember, he says in his letter to Zang Hai that the other master killed himself because he recognized much earlier than Gao Ming that it would eventually happen.

Well, the villain has been at it much longer than Zang Hai and definitely had bigger teeth and claws. Ultimately, Zang Hai had been playing the villain's game pretty much the whole time and he is what, 21, 22, still very inexperienced. What saved Zang Hai in the end was that the villain did not count on the strength of the adopted father/adopted son between Gao Ming and Zang Hai, which come to think of it is a glaring error on his part because he is a father himself and obviously loves his daughter since she has freedom that is unheard of for the time and place.

Son of one of his brothers, Prince of Linzi, who is guarding the border. This prince is mentioned in one of the first episodes.

He knew who he was dealing with and could have tried to save himself. He chose to save his adopted son instead. For me, that redeemed him.

I actually think he wanted to make a better world. His definition of a "better world" was just really twisted.

Well, he got an extra 10 years of life because of Zhinu, what's not to be thankful for?
