Honestly, not the best one I've read, a bit draggy - lots of family relationships and drama, but if you don't mind that it's ok. VERY different from the drama, and so far seems like a rare case where the drama is actually an improvement on the source material. But that said it's good enough that I will finish it and I have dropped many, many novels of this kind.

In the beginning of the novel Mudan is 19, JCY is in his mid-20s, I think. I just started reading it.

As someone who lived in a country with very strict censorship laws as a child I kind of get it... sometimes things in historical c-dramas come across as though people in ancient China had no physical side to them at all which is kind of ridiculous. But I actually think that this particular drama does slow burn right and shows relationship development so the whole "no skinship" thing doesn't bother me, there is a lot more to the story here

This was great! I went into this drama with no expectations and enjoyed it immensely. What a great experience!

I just hate when scriptwriters have great source material and for some reason think they can do better. Oh well, at least I got to read a decent novel. I think the ML is a great actor, the FL was decent enough. What an all-around waste of potential!

Yep, I checked it. I actually don't think he woke up, he is still unconscious, this is all happening in his head. The doctor tells FL he may wake up tomorrow, he may never never wake up. Note quite as bad as KMLM, but almost. I am so glad I learn from the Glory and gave up at Ep 20. What a huge disappointment!

Sadly, the bed scene in the ep 17 preview looks like a dream sequence... Hopefully I am wrong.

Me too. I have learned from The Glory. I need to just stop if I don't like where the story is going.

I hate to disappoint you, at least based on the novel there will be another arc when they are not together. They won't be together until the very end. But it's a HE. FWIW. I don't know what the drama writes will do.

Everyone is entitled to their point of view :). I really wanted to like the work of both actors in that episode. But I couldn't.

You are welcome. The novel is actually quite good, it's the only one besides the Forever and Ever novel that I could get through.

Liu Xue Yi's acting was fantastic. He sold the man in love in spite of himself in those scenes. But Meng Zi Yi just... didn't.

The main CP go through all sorts of struggles before they reunite. The way she is cured of the poison is by giving birth and her daughter takes on her poison. The daughter has 3 years to be cured of the poison. Taohua's master, who is not a character in the drama, takes their daughter and goes off in search of the cure. We never learn what happens. Taohua's brother is poisoned by the Empress and dies from the poison. Taohua and Shen Zaiye go off to live in a mansion on top of a mountain.

In Blossom was fantastic, although sometimes I think I am the only person who didn't hate the FL. Yes, the original actress from WOL was better but the FL was fine.

Novel is HE although it's bittersweet in many ways.

Yeah, when there was the whole "let my lifespan shorten as long as she survives" prayer, I got that feeling. I really hope the writers won't do it, it would be ridiculous. I hate to say it, but I am enjoying ADWAD, of which I had no expectations whatsoever, much more than this show right now. Although to give kudos where they are due, Liu Xue Yi and the secondary cast are carrying it right now.
