Well they are enemies this time so it has different vibe and pace is more like the standard Daomu Biji drama and not that fast paced as in Nanyang Mystery. I don't think it will get much "better" for you.

I think in Daomu Biji is actually no true magic/fantasy. Everything is explained by some kind of logic. Does it always make sense? No not really, you have to suspend your disbelief quite a lot. 🤭
