Finally got around to watching this drama and loving it, but wtaf is up with some of the casting? Like the ML's…
One, this drama didn't have a high budget so they can't be picky and must work with what they have. Both LYN and SZE weren't traffic or famous stars back then. This drama literally pushed LYN to the next level of popularity last year. Vengo, the actor, who played the older brother is a pretty well known star himself who has lead a few dramas of his own. It was a cameo role for him. It was actually quite nice of him to take some time to do this role when he didn't have to nor would it benefit him or pocket a lot of change or something. I don't think casting dropped the ball. They asked for favors from people they know and trust, last minute, and got what they got.
Por now, I’m not really liking the lead actress. She has a very fragile demeanor. In the other C-drama with…
Um...perhaps the role requires her to be? I don't understand the comparison between this lead actress to LYN's other actresses? They're completely different dramas. LSS knew how to fight, ZLS was a strong business woman, LYT came from modern days, and in here, SZE is a loved, pampered, delicate, yet wise princess sent to convince her enemy not to slaughter her entire country because there was no one strong enough or good enough fighter to beat Wei Shao head to head. ManMan is water, who slowly melts the tough Wei Shao's heart in the end. I'm glad LYN isn't paired up with the same strong female leads. Change is good.
my rating for this drama is 10+... the best drama of 2025 for me... everything here was well done and refined,…
Yas! I totally agree. This drama is all about a steady and mature relationship. I love Manman, she doesn't need to win battles like the female generals this year, her words are swords.
That's how China regulates their dramas. They have a committee specifically for reviewing dramas. They have their own rules, so whatever they deem as inappropriate won't be in the final cut to be aired. It's not the editors or director's fault. It's out of their hands. This is what they mean by censorship in China. Before a drama is filmed, they have to submit the scripts and story to this committee then after they film it and put it together, the same committee reviews it for broadcast. Some dramas have had their episodes go from 40 to 30 before, so the ending is a bit rushed here and we don't know what they cut out but for sure, the rushed ending is a result of it, so just cherish what we have. Lol
Damn, that ending felt rushed as hell but they managed to tie everything up for the most part. I think they could've…
Yes, they filmed 40 all at once then the censorship committee has to review the entire drama and cut out parts they believe aren't good enough to air or be part of the final cut, so it has nothing to do with the team of editors or directors, it's out of their hands. This is China, so their censorship or rules are strict.
