I think they did this for a reason. You know how Furong Jun went to appease Xingzhi, that was supposed to be Youlan, cuz she releases ShenLi from the extranatural heaven aka Xingzhi's home later. For them to keep that, i think they needed to make Youlan on board the cp ship, else itd make ppl that havent read the novel wonder why she'd free her and help her later on.
