Dream On

I took a long time between the first season of Only Friends and Only Friends: Dream On. The first season had my head spinning, so I need a little time to recoup. The story for Dream On was super predictable in a lot of areas, but then towards the end had me biting my nails and almost mad thinking it was going to end a certain way. I adore EarthMix and will watch basically anything with them in it. This performance of was definitely the spiciest they've had up to this point . AouBoom are also quickly becoming another favorite pair of mine and this series had an entirely different dynamic between the two of them than what we have seen so far. JossGawin are a cute couple and given how comfortable Gawin seems with whoever he is partnered with, I expect nothing less that brilliance from him. All three of our main couples delivered. Fluke's character was poorly written in my opinion. I didn't buy for a moment that anyone would have just continued to let him get away with his bs. It was nice to see Neo, Pod, and Mark make their appearances along with FirstKhaotung. Our plot got a bit messy in some areas, but overall this was a good series.

Hey Daddy

If you are one of the Dunk haters spewing nonsense about him getting too muscular to be a bottom, seriously go eat zucchini. Dunk is looking hot and giving Daddy vibes with his face-card that absolutely never declines, and we are here for it. I'm not 100% sold on the plot, but the twist is likely going to pull it all together in the final 2 episodes. Joong as a sulky baby top is so cute I just want to eat him up. The music is banger after banger and with the additional cast of Fluke, AouBoom, and our sassy BL princess Sammy, I'm confident in recommending this one to any Thai BL lover.

And then...

This series reminded me very much of an extremely long, extremely elaborate stage play where they decided to just keep the audience on the hook for that big moment... that never really came. It had a beginning, a middle which consisted of a beginning, a middle, and an end, another beginning, another middle, and another end, and yet another beginning, middle, and end, and then it had the final ending which was exactly what we all saw coming except that it never had the big event that we thought was going to take place during one of the 3 major timelines. I even waiting until after the final credits because sometimes they like to throw in that final scene that gives you closure, but alas, it was not to be had. Music was great, acting was pretty good, plot was mediocre, and timing was sloooooooooooooow. I can't say I will ever watch this one again because even though it was only 33 episodes, it felt longer than some CDramas with 40-50 episodes. Still, I'm not mad I watched it, just not in love with it either.

I'll take one of everything

As a woman who also appreciates boyish charm and looks from the 25-35 range, the first thing about this series that gained my appreciation was the age gap. It's one of the tropes I loved about My Dear Lady and Dating in the Kitchen. And there is something about historic CDramas and KDramas that draw me in every time. Pretty sure it's the romanticized costumes and anti-tech that gets me. I did find this series a little stretched for what it was. I think this would have been just as good done over 10 episodes rather than 12, but it wasn't so much that I felt super annoyed. If you are someone who enjoys watching cooking competitions, I really think you will like the way she describes each of the dishes she cooks when she presents them. I will say, I thought we were building up to a secondary couple with the chef's assistant and the assassin, but it never actually took off. Still I found plenty of action to keep the story moving, and I really loved the way they wrapped it all up. I don't know that I will watch this one again, but I am happy to have watched it at least once.

Buckle Up

This is the most twisted, toxic, out of control ride you will be on this year. There is absolutely nothing healthy about this couple and yet we are eating it up by the spoonfulls. And the supporting cast is just as chaotic and vile as the main cast. It's almost hard to watch, but in the best possible way. Show of hands for all those chasing the red flags??? 🙌

OK but hear me out

I know I am one to hate on BL series with no or poorly written plots, but this one is a guilty pleasure for me. And the reason is that I watched our leads Kim Chang Min and Kim Chan Gyu in the Korean reality dating series His Man back in 2022. The fact that they got a series together, however basic or short it may be, makes me giggle and fangirl out a little. They are so cute and to see actual gay actors in a BL makes me feel like something right happened here. Is it a little cheesy? Yes. Is it PURE fan service for us fujashi? YES! But at least you expect it to be <3

Life is a Bumpy Road

This series offers a lot of character development for everyone but Jiang Mu who pretty much stays consistent throughout. And I don't mean that as a bad thing, she knows who she is, who she loves, and what she wants her future to look like. And while Jin Zhao has the same heart for Mu Mu all along, we see him really learn who he is and accept who he is in her eyes. There were definitely some over the top script areas, but for the most part the storyline is good and keeps things moving. I was very happy to see a 29 episode CDrama rather than another long drawn out slow burn 40 episode drama. This one was had me laughing and crying pretty much throughout.

Wait, it's still not over?

I don't want to make it seems as though I didn't love things about this series, because I did. The headstrong, no-nonsense, strong female character was fantastic. The true devotion of a warlord was swoon worthy, but the series itself was just sooooo looooong. Sixty Eight Episodes? It was really hard to get through it all in one go, so I took several breaks to watch other dramas and then came back to it.

Such a Fox

Fox has so many different meanings depending on what country you are in or the context of it. Lee Dong Wook captures each meaning superbly in this series. He's both charming and sly, sweet and dangerous. I appreciated the mix of modern and historic working hand in hand to really round out the story. There were parts I found unnecessary as well as other areas I wish they would have delved deeper into. Still, it was a great series and one that I've watched more than once in fact.

Beautiful

This series was absolutely stunning from the cast to the scenery to the scores. However, the ending was a little too abrupt for me. I know there is a 2 part follow up, and I'm hoping all that I felt deprived of is there to fulfill that lacking feeling. Still I love Dylan Wang and will pretty much watch anything with him in it ESPECIALLY if he has long hair. Historic/Fantasy dramas are definitely for me. And he plays fierce so very well. I loved the series for the most part, and if I didn't have so many new dramas to watch, I might actually watch this one again.

Once I Finally Found You

I watched Douluo Continent when it came out and fell in love with the storyline, the actors, and the special effects. I was waiting and waiting for season 2 to come out. I searched Douluo Continent season 2 multiple times. I even went to actors pages to see when a follow up would be announced, and nothing. It's more my fault for not knowing the background of this story because with a different title and different cast it took me far too long to find it. But here I am, and even though there is a new cast and the special effects are more AI generated this time, I'm still loving the series. I love Rayli in just about any role she plays and Zhou Yi Ran was so cute in Falling into your Smile that I couldn't be upset with the cast change. The music really gets me pumped during each dueling scene. My only real complaint is that the new graphics and special effects make it feel less fantasy world and more video game. It hard to truly get emersed in the story like I did the first season. Still, it's definitely worth the watch.

Cute but dumb

This one is more of a guilty pleasure watch for me. The story is fine, the music is great, and the entire case is adorable. It's not that the actors are bad at their jobs, it's just that the characters are truly written that way. Duang is just soooo over the top clingy and optimistic. I really though this was going to be a kind of Junior from Perfect 10 Liners situation where he uses being happy to cover for darker feelings, but it appears to just be who he is. I don't mind it, and I'm enjoying watching the series, but it's not really one that you are going to take seriously.

Be Careful What You Wish For

Who hasn't wished at one time or another that they could just disappear or start over somewhere where no one knew them? But what would you do if it actually happened? What if that fleeting moment of frustration became the basis for your every day life? This series reminds us that even in our times of struggle and uncertainty, there are so many people around us whose lives would be forever changed if we weren't in it. It's so easy to get wrapped up in anxiety, grief, and depression, and we forget that the good times are there too. That we have people we love and who love us back. This series is a wonderful reminder to keep pressing forward and not take our loved ones for granted, and to also remember that it's ok to ask for help sometimes.

Oh my, why?

I am utterly confused as to why this series was made?.??. You know what this is? This is Tides of Love season 1, but with sex instead of kissing. The plot is non-existent, the acting is terrible and the leads have ZERO chemistry. I really don't understand putting a budget behind this at all. We could totally save our money for something descent. I'm dropping this one. After 3 episodes it hasn't gotten any better at all.

And it just keeps getting worse

Ep 5 Addition: This series was really just thrown out there. Watching the latest episode started out much the same as the previous 4, but then about 13minutes in things just got weird. The song choice during In and Ernge's date was a Christian Vacation Bible School song based on Romans 8:28. I'm just really having a hard time at this point not finding every single ridiculous thing that went into this series irritating. I hate that I hate so much about this because I really wanted to love it for the sake of the author and the cast.

Ep 1-4 Review: I have seen people attempt to defend this series as "art". Well sure, I have a camera and am myself capable of creating "art". But this is a far cry from GOOD art. And it's really unfortunate because, much like Ai Long Nai, the novel by Nattakorn is fantastic while the screenwriting totally bombs. I've even had a soft spot for TutorYim since Cutie Pie and have been waiting for them to get a good series. Am I going to finish this series? Absolutely because the novel and the actors are great and if you have read it you can still follow along, but you may not be thrilled with it.
