I can't believe I left it on my plan to watch list for too long. I like the FL, not the typical perfect woman---who has never dated anyone or a naive one. So what if she dated a lot of men? This is happening in real life, and it's not like she is a mistress or dating a married man. She has a strong sense of justice.
I just finished Kill me, Love me and, since this drama's on my plan to watch list and have seen that it's completed, I give it a try. I must say that this sad ending is really sad, and as in super sad. In KMLM, even though the FL died, I found the ending bittersweet. Bitter yet sweet, sad but somehow satisfying because they bid farewell to each other, cherish those little time they have. The FL died, the ML never re-married, never had his harem.
In here, SNTL, after they separated in episode 24, they never see each other again-never even had a chance to confess their feelings.
I've had my fair share of dramas with sad endings and, honestly, I never had a problem with that. Sad endings are even a trend before and likely will not come to end very soon. But with this ending-the missed encounter, -them missing each other, -them always prioritizing others instead of themselves, them being burdened by their past and their responsibilities, I honestly and fervently wished for a happy ending-even a 5-second happy ending like in Ancient Love Poetry would be nice. But, sadly, alas! Until the very last moment, they also torment the viewers. I kept on murmuring 'look back, look back' and when he did look back I even shouted 'run after them!'
How I wish they would give her a different death, like dying in his arms or dying after ther drinking session-after which they both profess their love for each other. At least the writers should just let them say farewell to each other.
I felt a lingering sorrow after watching this. Ziye and Mr.Seven's love story is almost a love story. If given a chance, it would surely be a beautiful one. (sigh)
The ML here is in Kill me love me, a current drama airing. (13 eps out so far) If you haven't already, then check…
I agree w/ you about the ending. We watched dramas to be entertained and to feel good, so a sad ending is a big letdown.
But, I must say even though the FL died, and the ML became emperor and lived for another 10 years, he lived alone -didn't remarry and had no harem. Patiently, bidding his time to meet her someday is somewhat satisfying. It's bitter yet sweet, sad but beautiful.
Liu Xue Yi is really a great actor, too bad his drama 'Love Never Fails' will never get to air.
I was glad when I heard that they would re-film this one with a different actress, only to be disappointed again to know that it was also canceled, like as in permanently, as this drama will never be pushed through.
in poster I see xue yi and bing yan tell I am wrong because the femal lead don t seem like in picture
Yuan Bing Yan is the one on the poster but due to her tax evasion scandal, it was reported that they will replace her with actress Hu Yi Xuan (the one on the cast list) and will re-film the drama supposedly in February of this year, but it was also canceled. It was said that this drama would never get pushed through.
Whenever I rewatch this I always laugh at how the camera pans out to each and every character in a room to show their reactions, and it stays for like 3–5 seconds per character ahaha. Like, for 1 instance, they got a whole frame of Mishil and her cronies in a room then zoomed in from Mishil to Seolwon to Sejong to Misaeng, then Hajong to Bojong and head priestess to Chilsuk and back to Mishil, and we get 5–10 seconds on her reaction ahaha.
Back then, when it aired in my country, I always stayed up late just to watch it, and it only aired for like 30 mins. Sometimes 1 episode is divided into 2 or 3 episodes. Imagine how time-consuming that is, ahaha.
I like the additional episodes after Mishil's death. I like each chapter-Young Deokman to Princess Deokman, Mishil and Bidam's arc.
Rewatching for 12th time. Queen Seondeok will always be on my list of All-Time Fav Series.
Watching this again and I suddenly realized that this timeline is before Queen Seondeok. I miss the different colors of the hwarang uniform from Queen Seondeok.
a 10! Plus, it has Joe Chen. I grew up watching her dramas since Lavender finally had a main role in My MVP Valentine. She was so young and bubbly then. Now she's playing mother roles, and a villain at that!

a 10! Because it's not that angsty. No looong episodes of misunderstanding. No long separation of the leads. Though it's slow burn, you can feel that they have mutual understanding, it's like "we're in a relationship but let's not go public"😅. And they're almost always together in each episode. I don't know about everyone, but I do think Duke Su likes her when she's still Xue Fangfei.
I love the ML.
Nice watch.
if you want to be spoiled (why is he created by her)see my reply to this below.
She is in a dream, she didn't went back in time.

Worth the wait.
