that father is so much trash i just can't
Agreed. And nobody does anything about it, the mother says 'why, don't say that to her' but that's it. It's almost like it's supposed to be funny?! Verbal abuse is still abuse. How can you treat your child like this? Even more so when he himself is a shameless sloth doing nothing but eat and fart and poop and ordering his wide around. And poor Chung Ah, she's getting shit thrown at her from all sides. I don't know how much more of this I can take.

The father is such an evil and disgusting sloth, it makes my toes curl. He's been unemployed for 38 years, treating his wife like a maid. Whenever he sees FL he insults her, even telling her to die, how a human being can be this shameless is beyond me: "It’s only morning but you look sallow like a loser. When will you start earning your keep already? Just start working if you’re too stupid to study. You’re done for employment and your life even more. (…) You're gonna fail this time too. You’ve had eight years of failure, if you get your hopes up, you’ll be the one at fault. She tried to give up her life, why can’t she give up her dream? Move!! Why did I have such a daughter? What a waste of seaweed soup [eaten on one’s birthday]." I hope he gets run over by the truck of doom and dies. I hate him almost more than the sister's mother in law (not quite, but almost).

She says in the article "With this I am not bidding you goodbye, since this article has a twin, which I am vigorously working on!" So I guess we'll be getting one for female characters soon, yay!

Ml from "When the weather is fine"SML from Twinkling watermelon
When the Weather is fine is one of my absolute favorite dramas, I've seen it half a dozen times. But I wouldn't really call ML a green flag, to be honest. While he obviously cares a lot for FL, due to his traumatic past he doesn't allow himself to be happy. He doesn't communicate well, neither with his family nor FL, and withdraws frequently (the mountains or mentally) when it gets too much. After FL confesses (because everything he says and does SCREAMS 'I'm in love with you') he initially doesn't reciprocate which leaves her emotionally unstable and questioning herself. I don't blame him, he had a lot on his plate and the beauty in this drama also lies in peoples' imperfections. But all in all, I wouldn't say he's a green flag from the get go.

Does someone actually commit suicide during the show or is it a suicide attempt? Or was it something that happened…
Ah yeah of course, I just meant with my original question, if it's only a flashback sorta thing that happened long before the setting of the drama. I mean I could feel it from the get go that it was gonna be him, but it was still really painful. I cried buckets in the first episode.

Definitely some I agree with. Personally I also thought King The Land did quite good at portraying green flag male characters. ML was consistent in loving FL and sharing troubles and worries and he treated everyone politely kindly regardless of status. And then honorary mention to not quite a main character, Ro Woon (the flight attendant) is possibly the greenest of all green flags, and I want one for myself. I mean, he's just so wholesome without being overbearing. Never pressuring, just silently supporting in a way that makes him so lovable and dependable. Guys like him probably mostly exist in dramaland, but still... Dreamy.

I'd also like to mention Ryan Gold from Her private life, because despite his past trauma, he was very understanding and supportive, despite FL's lies and deception. Gentle and kind to everyone around (except when someone goes against his beliefs). A very beautiful love story in my opinion.

I'm a huge fan of O My Venus and have rewatched, too many times tbh. I think the weight issues, bias how many…
Agreed, Kim Yeong Ho is such a loving and supportive guy, and as you said, he always says 'healthy is the sexiest'. It has nothing to do with her weight but that she had weight-related health issues. And his withdrawal when sick was actually just in the beginning before they started dating, after they were in a relationship he allowed himself to lean on her and let her support him as well. It's one of my fav dramas to date in terms of relationship goals also.

I love this drama so much with my whole hearted. I love joonhwi and cheong ah love story, on how they started…
I really love the two main actors so I wanted to love this. I started watching it yesterday and watched four episodes (full one hour eps). I really liked the first two episodes, it was nicely done albeit sad and quite dark there was still some comedy sprinkled in. But episodes 3 and 4 were a bit hard to watch so I've started skipping scenes. I hate ML's aunt/chairwoman, she's one of the worst mother-in-law characters in dramaland, and FL's father is a lazyass douche who keeps telling his daughter she's useless and she should just die. I really loved Seol Ah in the beginning but she turned out to be selfish and cruel, abandoning her family for money and fame and then blaming everything on her little sister. Cheong Ah and Joon Hwi don't have enough screen time together so far, is it going to change? Does it take a long time for romance to blossom? I don't know if I can take 100 episodes of such hateful and terrible characters just for the main leads...

I started watching yesterday and even though it's in the first episode, someone does commit suicide, we see it, so it's not actually a flashback of something that happened long ago. But yeah, it should get a suicide tag.

The way everyone treats someone who is obviously a victim and scarred from the past, who could end up taking her life because of the pain she had to suffer, is beyond me. That's no way to treat someone. I hope FL gets a break soon and finds comfort with ML, because at this point all she gets is hatred.

100 episodes is too much. It's pointless and boring. The sadness and the tension of this series is not good for…

The thing with long Korean dramas is that it keeps people from watching, when we do it readily with western shows. I've seen the Gilmore girls with its 153 episodes several times, same back in the day with shows like Buffy, Friends or Charmed. I mostly switched to watching Korean series ten years ago so I don't have any current examples, but anyway, I think they should break long dramas into several seasons to keep people engaged. Then again, you probably cannot compare a makjang to an international sitcom or comedy show... I am undecided on whether to watch this, I love Kim Jae Yeong actor but not a fan of 'ahjumma melodrama' and too long shows.

Exactly!! the ML weight could be around 70kg and the FL could not possibly lift him without help, she herself…
Yeah, I'm not dropping because of this scene only obviously. Things just kept adding up and I wasn't enjoying it anymore. This was just the final straw for me personally.

Exactly!! the ML weight could be around 70kg and the FL could not possibly lift him without help, she herself…
I took an emergency course when I did my drivers license, and in case of such a big fire in any enclosed space, they said it would take only two breaths for an adult person to become unconscious. And because the cyanide and carbon monoxide in the air are toxic enough to lead to death within less than five minutes, all of this is absolutely ridiculous. I know it is common for movies and dramas to disregard this fact, but at least usually after they exit the building, paramedics immediately rush in to provide oxygen and treat the CO poisoning, which is crucial as even if you've only inhaled a little bit, it can still lead to death hours later. But here we don't only have a heroine magically carrying ML, neither he (he would've been unconscious in that fire for at least 15 minutes considering the evacuation) or she show any signs of aftereffects from the fire and smoke, and instead of informing the paramedics and fire fighters (who would go in, endangering their lives to save any missing people) we have a sappy love confession and make-out session. Ever heard of time and place? Now I know people will come after me defending it for being a romcom and fantasy and not to take it so seriously --- I can't. This is so bad, dropped.

This drama hits close to home because I feel like as a girl, we all went through some kind of ´you’re my everything’…
I am still undecided about watching this but your comment made me stop because I can really relate to that. I'm in my thirties now but in my teens and twenties my friends were really everything. And most of my favorite shows from that time were about friendship, not necessarily romance. Like NANA... I guess I'll watch this when I'm in that kind of mood.

You’re complaining about the drama for the same things it clearly shows it’s about. That’s like ordering…
No. I'm complaining because it's poorly written. I have nothing against a good romcom, if it has fantasy, all the better. The 2010ish dramas was when I got into Kdrama and I still have many favorites from that time. This is different, unfortunately, it lacks substance. If you enjoy it, by all means do, in my opinion romcoms don't have to be shallow or repetitive or whatever, there are some great shows out there that tick all the boxes.

UPDATE: i've watched ep.7-8 and they started to ruin it a little... I'll explain. I believe the authors thought…
To your thirst remark, she knew neither of the two had money to spend on a motel/hotel, and out of a sense of responsibility for her team (and especially her bf no doubt) she offered them to stay at her place for a while as she had two vacant rooms. In my opinion that's perfectly understandable.
And the fight, yeah it's true that 2ML is a people pleaser but I did see him as someone with a childish nature who could be impulsive on occasion. I think the way they filmed and edited it was really nice, like his vision just zoned in, the audio in the room becoming muted and all he could see was ML...

Am I the only one who loves this show? This is my second re-watch. Yes, I don't like everything about it, like…
I totally respect your opinion, but I wish you'd give some of the characters another try. I think this is one big difference this show has compared to weakly written dramas these days: these characters actually have depth, and they have a story there. We're not mouth-fed this story by pointless monologues or insight to their thoughts, we have to actually work to get to know them and read between the lines. We have to ask ourselves: What could be the reason for daughter and wife to act so cold to a father who spent 14 years supporting them? Why would the sister not date anyone seriously? How could a guy dump a woman as great as FL after 10 years without a second thought? If you care enough to know about their past, their feelings and troubles, you'll appreciate the conflicts and changes throughout show, and there's great character development here for everyone, not just the leads, and I truly love this about the drama. It's really well written.
