What's the reason for a huge discrepancy between IMDb rating (7.3, 21K votes) and this (8.7, 36K)? I'm on ep5…
Who knows which rating are most reliable, in the end it is all a matter of taste. But the main difference between MDL and IMDB, is that here it is mainly kdrama fans, and on IMDB it is all kinds of people.
People act like that, when they don’t really understand themselves and gets frustrated. And a good story doesn’t…
It’s not an excuse, its called life experience and understanding what actually was told in this story. Flip it around: Kiyoi deserved to meet someone like Hira, so he could change.
Everyone's saying how it was so good, I, on the other hand, thought it was bad.The way kiyoi treated hira throughout…
There were a lot of reasons, mostly insecurity about his own feelings and Hira. He was a very lonely boy who everyone used because they thought he was good looking and special. And he is very young, at an age where you are trying to figure out yourself, and feelings are just chaos. That can make you lash out and do/say things that looks wrong in the eyes of others. Every grown up has their moments when they look back at their teenage self and think “oh my god, why did I say or do that”. And without proper guidance from parents, they won’t have any support and advice that can tell them what is right or wrong
I'm 100% missing whatever appeal this drama seems to have for everyone. Kiyoi was just a jerk the entire time…
People act like that, when they don’t really understand themselves and gets frustrated. And a good story doesn’t always need to have characters you identify with or understand right away. But watching and trying to understand these kind of stories, will also teach you something about human emotions and how difficult they can be.
I read your review after I watched this drama, and I 100% agree with you! I even gave it 10 stars, and I am very strict with my 10’s!
So often people judge characters very superficially, and miss all the complexities. I loved when everything switched and we really got to see both sides.
JCW is a great actor who has the unfortunate gift of choosing very bad scripts. Melting Me Softly, K2, Lovestruck…
I loved Lovestruck in the City, but that’s a more mature drama I think, for those who likes it realistic. Backstreet Rookie was a fun watch, mostly because Ji Chan Wook was so adorcably in it.
I was prepared for the sad ending, and wouldn’t have any problem crying my heart out. But the way Shin Joon Yeong hurt Eul, even just to push her away ... I mean, if so had known I would never have watched this drama.
Thanks for your review. I am about your age and I went back and forth on whether I want to watch this. Do I want…
I haven’t seen it until now, for the same reasons. Did I want to watch something like grown up women? But I didn’t regret my decision. Being grown up, and not really feel a grown up, and at the same time life forces you to realise that you aren’t as young as you want to.
