No but there are similarities… so there is the whole mystery and secret factions surrounding this series as well. Like different sects with different skillsets + secrets and they get passed down from one generation to another. There is also a lot of adventure because of that. It is more “realistic” than the tomb hunting genre because there are no supernatural elements.

This series is so different compared to the other Daomu Biji novels…. Mainly because of the whole Li Cu arc……
Liang Wan here really really really annoyed me. Shitz… and she is quite crucial to the plot…. I cringe almost like every time when she is in the picture.

Seriously… was perfect… like I mean there are soooooo many actors that play the China Emperor roles… like I can’t tell A from B honestly coz there are just too many… but he nailed this particular role head on. Very impressive and also memorable.
I did a short Google check on him and apparently he is the go-to Emperor actor though….. but I don’t think I’ve watched him prior to JoL.
The ending is going to be super rushed again…….. why do so many C-dramas have this issue…. 😔
Claps to the editing and production crew. It was rushed BUT the flow was natural unlike the crazy Mystic Nine drama I just rewatched. Am glad C-drama editing seems to be somewhat progressing…

Ideally it should have been a 1-hour episode then it would be close to perfect… surprisingly they closed the water contamination arc pretty abruptly… so they took a “shortcut” there…

This sub-plot might actually also be depicting a real-life case that happened in 2015 although this also happens in other countries like US unlike the Gaokao/identity theft incident..
Am impressed in the sense that C-dramas have finally caught up in reflecting actual issues in the society and they managed to cast famous/popular artistes…. Usually these kinda dramas often go unnoticed likely because the cast is relatively unknown esp outside of China..

Think QL-XF relationship mostly lack foundation…. Most of the getting to know each other only happened after marriage which surprisingly still happens in real life in current times…. XF has a point when she said QL actually quite a decent guy, I concur…. It all comes down to expectations and compatibility.
QZ-YN is closer to wot should have “ideally” and usually takes place in a relationship. You already make major discoveries although not its entirety before you marry/live together with someone. And couples are faced with the big question of whether they want to accept these things and still get married.

Not the same…. Those are just very bullet point on the surface qualities/similarities…. It is exactly like you mentioned about knowing someone’s character… that doesn’t occur overnight but equally one don’t necessarily need to trial-and-error by living under the same roof to discover a person’s character or family. Relationships are built with time, effort and most importantly observation…. These can all be built to great lengths albeit with some limitation before marriage..
