I totally encourage anyone who is about to do their own renovation project esp. first timers to watch this. A lot of the issues depicted here are real life issues, and it is true, it is so difficult for interior designers to make money in Asian countries, most people are unwilling to pay for their consultancy fee….. I’m a client and although I budgeted fees but I realised it is very difficult for them to make money because most people don’t believe in their value. I believe in interior designers and know they are absolutely a must, but I have to admit that their fees really does blow your budget for a small space/flat. It almost becomes impossible….
Sighs, our 6-month project dragged out to a 2-year project…… design and renovation projects aren’t a joke…. It’s so exhausting, stressful and time + energy consuming…
Actually I think they explicitly altered that for the tv series…. So that was the only major contradiction with…
Yes. But they haven’t touched on the purge via the TV adaptations…. Volume 8 has specific chapters detailing snippets and continuation from what happened from Mystic Nine until the subsequent generations….
So no, they didn’t mess up the timeline… and with this kinda budget… whether Xie Jiu ye passed in ‘77 or ‘87 in the novel… the screenwriters have explicitly chosen to continue the plot this way solely based on TV adaptations… and even in this sense it isn’t “final”….

Yes in the novel, hence why I said they altered it for the tv series instead of them messing up the timeline. They obviously know he isn’t dead because of the novel. But the character Xie Jiu Ye only appears in The Mystic Nine for TV adaptations, he doesn’t appear in any other TV adaptations. But that being said, they never showed his death on-screen…. And they didn’t adapt Volume 8 yet….
lol, the Easter egg would be Xie JiuYe is actually alive?
lol, I mean he weaved all the Mystic Nine novel bits quite nicely with this one…. I mean as per NPSS style, there are some minor contradictions here and there, but everything closed pretty nicely, the only one major contradiction is Xie JiuYe…
but I think also because his mentality and writing skills now vs. when he originally wrote mystic nine back then changed quite a bit that…. I think as per him as well, he never thought about how he intended to complete all the plots…. This was probably the best way he could connect everything I spse… to be fair how he did it here already contradicted a little bit with one of the Misc. side stories between Zhang QiShan and Wu LaoGou… but it’s just a minor contradiction…
They fucked up the timeline so bad. You know who was suppose to die of old age. Wu laogou was suppose to already…
Actually I think they explicitly altered that for the tv series…. So that was the only major contradiction with the novels. BUT then again, I noticed they didn’t show anything concrete onscreen….. so per NPSS’s style, there could be another arc whereby he faked it etc. lol.
During Wu Xie's time, whether when he is in his 20's or late 30's, were there descendants of the other clans?I…
To add on to some of the comments above, Black Glasses is not a direct descendent but is I think either a disciple or extended relative of Qi TieZui, but basically inherited some of Qi TieZui’s arts….
Black Bear Sixth and BanJie Li I think mostly because the sons followed their mothers, so descendants were left out from all the subsequent novels…. Zhang QiShan and wife has no kids, even in the novel. Their tomb/coffin is in Warehouse 11.
The biggest contradiction with the novels is Xie Jiu Ye….. so yes…. His grandson is Xie YuChen…
Damns. The plot/screenplay was so good, exceeded all my expectations!
NPSS finally completed the Mystic Nine novels…. I think there are some minor contradictions with what he has written under the novels but overall it was great, wish he would complete the novels based on this so that we get more details…. Think the biggest contradiction is probably the ending, esp Xie JiuYe….
I’m really glad they really focused on all the 9 “gates” this time…. The prequel was rather weird because they didn’t explore all 9 clans…. Only focusing on 3-4 clans.. But I have to say I was very sad before Ep.30….. I wish I understood how that tower thing mushrooms, everything else was relatively logical and creative actually….
lol, wot do you mean….. I took some notes from the proposal. LOL. I don’t know, it definitely got me thinking, in a way she kinda has a point…. It looks like relying on just “love” also kinda leads to a lot of divorces after living together for many yrs…. So wot she said is kinda thought provoking…
