i’m conflicted over the ending. i like the power back to the ppl message but idk how they escaped the van and everything still felt anticlimactic to me. i also still have a lot of unanswered questions like where is sean and black’s dad, why gumpa never looked for black, how black and white’s mother being a judge and their dad a diplomat is going to affect things etc., and how the protesters even found out about their kidnapping. although i’m happy no one died, i still expected to be more moved emotionally this episode.
even tho the last episode took some wind outta my sails personally (or whatever that expression is), not me is still one of the best bl series i’ve watched and my favourite thai series by far. gun’s acting alone makes this series stand out, without even considering everything else i enjoyed.
sidenote: black and white’s cuddle in the tent was the cutest thing i’ve seen in my life. i stg i like astral projected bcs of it. i gotta say the cut to that scene felt abrupt tho.
weirdest thing. it was available earlier today with subs (i was half way thru the episode) but they randomly made…
yea i think something is wrong with viki. i’m also getting notifications for episode releases for shows that are already done airing like semantic error
I’m really confused isn’t there a new episode today. It’s not on Viki yet 🤔
weirdest thing. it was available earlier today with subs (i was half way thru the episode) but they randomly made it unavailable? i’m not sure if it’s a glitch or something to do with changed agreements or what
that doesn’t mean i have to agree that the series is failing on its commentary on sociopolitical issues to centre offgun’s relationship lol.
tbh i think the commentary has gotten better in some aspects. there have been issues from the start of the series that i think they’re finally addressing. like for me, i thought the series was going to take a route that was dismissive to police corruption, like a « not all cops are bad » message, but they’re not. i think this episode really highlighted that even if some cops aren’t « bad ppl » they still align themselves with a system that is oppressive. that there is no change when operating under the rules of a corrupt institution, that police don’t protect the working class but rather the interests of elites etc.
dan should have never became a cop, but he did. he never should have stayed a cop, but he didn’t quit. he’s part of the problem and we get to see that. i’m sure we will get to see (more) consequences of cops acting out against the system too (i.e. i think he’s gonna die)
i’m also not an offgun stan, although this series has definitely given me a soft spot for them, which is why i rewatched ToL recently. i like their characters bcs i find the development interesting. sean learning to trust and white becoming aware of the intentional failings of the system. black only grew on me last week bcs i empathized with him after gram’s betrayal and to extent the gang’s. i care for sean, in particular, tho. i see him as a victim of police violence. i empathise with him the most and root for his happiness and healing
(i don’t care about yok bcs of the cop thing. i don’t care about gram bcs of the cop thing and the eugene thing,. i’m indifferent to gumpa.)
don’t get me wrong, i don’t think the series is perfect. i think the disability analysis is shallow, and there are a lot of unanswered questions (where tf is white’s dad?) but i’m also willing to wait to see if those questions will be answered.
i have more feelings but i don’t really have the energy to delve any further than i have. that said, i’m not going to tell you your view of the series is wrong. it’s all subjective, but don’t assume to know my motivations pls
sidenote: i also love todd’s betrayal. there’s almost never an ethical way to get that rich. rich ppl will always protect the interests of the rich/their own interests. his character was also a problem for me that is finally getting addressed, and i love to see it. i was scared it would be a « not all rich ppl are exploitive » message. his remaining friendship with black is an interesting twist too that i’m looking forward to the series exploring, but no i don’t care if he dies. he’d deserve it
