I like that this dramas has no fillers so far. The plot moves at a brisk pace while not forgetting character development. It's too bad most Cdramas are not like this.
It seems stepmother went alone to a banquet and signed the contract. Basically FL's father is a spineless fool.
FL is not dumb. She likely has a few tricks up her sleeve but is pretending to be docile for now. Remember that this is a society where elders have total power over the children in the family so it takes some plotting for the FL to get her way.

Actually I've watched a lot. But the villain or the character who forces FL to marry for his benefit usually has some ability at least. Fifth Uncle doesn't seem to have anything except greed. Anyways, hopefully he'll get what's coming to him.

I know he wants power but imagine being such a poor excuse for an official and with zero ability that he needs to sell the women in his family to get a promotion. That's a new low even for Cdrama villains XD
One thing that this drama needs to be praised for is the lighting. It's always used to good effect and that's not always easy or something the director thinks about but it makes a big difference in the visual presentation of a scene
