Iâm dropping this drama here at episode 17. There are a lot of things I didnât like about it, but honestly…
After episode 17 the FL has less scenes (thankfully) because I honestly had the same reaction. I took a two week break after episode 17. I was so done with how useless she was, every big fight she only cried and screamed. Hell during episode 16 and 17 she didnât even hide, like are you kidding me? My feelings for the kid are mixed.
The bond between both MLs grows after episode 17, which I personally loved, to me they had more chemistry together than the ML and FL. But yes it is a painful and sad series, so I definitely get why you need to take a break, take care of yourself.
should i watch this or is this going to disappoint me like revenged love and abo desire?
If you didnât like Hua Yong or Chi Cheng, youâll probably wonât like Fan Xiao, but itâs different for everybody. Give it a try, if you donât like it, donât force yourself to watch it.
The description describes them as half siblingsđ
MDL can sometimes have it wrong. If they follow the manhwa which so far they are doing, they arenât cousins nor half siblings. Il Jo is adopted. The family doesnt know that Il Jo is adopted and only see him as a illegitimate child.
I feel like Iâm missing half of story when I watch this series. Also why for crying out loud is Hae Jun / Kim Hyeon constantly grunting like he is in pain or uncomfortable. Itâs just a few buttons being opened why are you grunting? But on positive side at least we didnât have any flying plants in our view, like last episode.
Down below a explanation about why the MLs arenât cousins. So if you donât want to know donât open the spoiler…
The family doesnt know Il Jo is an orphan, the entire family thinks the uncle had an affair and out of that came Il Jo, an illegitimate child. ML2 is a major jackass, the entire family are major AH to Il Jo, they assume a lot of things.
They only find out around chapter 60 of the 72 chapters in the manhwa, and even knowing Il Jo isnt a cousin, the rest of the family doesnât treat him better.
Il Jo doesnt know his biological mother, she was 20, the father left her, she begged a church to take in the child, the nuns dropped the child at an orphanage. Il Jo was around 6 years old when the uncle adopted him. Only he didnât get his spouses agreement, so the uncle couldnt âformallyâ adopt ML.
But in the manhwa the uncle had been living alone at the countryside for some time, with only the ML by his side, including when the uncle became sick. So I assumed they divorced and the uncle moved away, ML2 is probably blaming Il Jo for said split.
Down below a explanation about why the MLs arenât cousins. So if you donât want to know donât open the spoiler tab, for the record, no they are not related, âcousinsâ but not by blood and didnt grew up together.
Not cousins, in the manhwa the uncle adopted Il Jo, he was an orphan. So not related to each other.
Il Jo is the adopted child, but nobody from the family knows that. They all think the uncle had an affair and the affair bore Il Jo, thats why they all say and think heâs an illegitimate child. Jeon Han is a child of the brother of the uncle who died. So they are âcousinsâ but not by blood, they are not related to each other. The uncle lived in the countryside, so they did not grew up together. And Jeon Han didnt want to know Il Jo because he also thought Il Jo was an affair child. I think they only met twice before, once when the uncle invited JH to the country side and once after high school or during high school. JH (and the readers) only finds out that IJ is adopted very late into the manhwa.
Wait, isnt he just playing?? Fan Xiao said it to his friend that he is just playing cz he s bearing đ¤
Fan doesnât really know how to love or what it is to feel love. Heâs used to people abandoning him, dropping him, favoring others. What he said to his friend is because he doesnât understand his feelings, he canât live without You, feels possessive over him, jealous of the people around him, yet also protective over You. He doesnât understand that he in fact already has feeling for You, so he keeps telling his friend that itâs just because of boredom. Yet he wants You around him 24/7. In this case his actions speak louder than his words. It might have started with Fan just playing with You, but by now, he isnât playing anymore.
Loved this episode, it was beautiful, heartbreaking and infuriating. Loved those small but emotional and caring moments, You coming home and watching Fan cook, Fan standing up for You to You his brother (even if it was for alternative reasons), You sharing what is troubling him, Fan silent support when You was looking out the window, the moment at the cemetery, beautiful and raw. And last but certainly not least, how You mentioned that he knew that Fan fixed the problems of his brother, that he isnt used to being cared for.
I stopped reading the novel around chapter 41, which translates to episode 5, I want to be suprised by the series. But the scene with Youâs brother came out of left field, the rage that I felt for that unreasonable guy. Blaming his brother for being gay, for his mothers death, yet still taking advantage of his brother. I hate people who do that and honestly I felt some satisfaction from Fanâs rage, putting out the cigarette on the brothers hand felt good, I wonât lie.
So far this series is giving so much more than what Iâve been expecting. And honestly itâs so nice to see decent kissing scenes instead of the stiff kisses or those dead fish kisses Iâve seen lately from series. Some companies need to start understanding how to give viewers decent kissing scene.
To teach him a lesson. Being gay isnât a choice, youâre born that way. The fact that ShuLangâs brother blamed…
This! If he was in front of me I wouldâve done more than just a small burn, disgusting creature. Blaming his brother for his mothers death and being gay, yet still financially taking advantage of him. He couldâve made something from himself, Fan was right. If You hadnt stood up for himself those bullies wouldâve done the same thing to the brother. If You wasnt gay those bullies probably wouldâve found another reason to bully him.
Ugh this one had so much potential, it was one of those series I was really looking forward too. But this series has so many plotholes and weird decisions that itâs hard to even be positive about it. Especially the last two episodes.
I personally had hoped the blood of Pharpai wouldâve made Phu also into a mermaid, because why else had it had to a mermans blood. It wouldâve been epic if as a side effect Phu had become a mermaid. If the ending scène was an nc scene where they zoom in on Phu his lower back with that beautiful 8 point star on it. Or the 3 of them., Phu, Nawa and Ping walking into the ocean together.
Than we have the chief dying and finding out that he orchestrated the dead of Nawa his parents, so what happened there? Who was the other merman who killed the chief?
So many lose ends and rushed storylines. Why did Phrapai do a 180 in a matter of minutes? hours? and went from I canât let you kill yourself, Iâll kill Phu myself to Iâll sacrifice myself so you can give the blood to your lover. Personally I donât feel that bad because I didnât like Phrapai, he was obsessed, too possessive and kind of a coward for never mentioning or being honest to Nawa about his feelings. Not to mention the constant head petting, what was that. Gave me the ick everytime I saw it.
I feel sad, especially for the actors, they deserved a better storyline. I did like the chemistry between the 2 couples, they were cute together. Maybe if this was made between 2020 and 2022 it wouldâve been good/better. But there have been so many great BLâs, bad writing, mediocre directing just doesnt cut it anymore.
"I just want your life to revolve around me. I want to be the only one in your eyes", says Fan Xiao even…
Was he really played though? We know as a viewer (and reader) that Fan had this whole elaborate plan of seducing You and driving a wetch between You and Lu. But Fan never mentioned anything about liking Lu, he gave him expensive gifts, yes. But it was Lu who thought that it was more, that it had to meant that Fan liked him. He himself ended the relationship with You on assumptions. He dropped a good guy who did everything for him, for somebody who just spoiled him with gifts. If the relationship between You and Lu was good, Lu wouldnât have accepted those gifts, he wouldâve rejected them.
Beautiful episode, is it bad of me that I felt satisfaction to how Fan ended things with Lu Zhen? Loved the subtle NC scene, loved the vulnerability Fan showed when he mentioned it was his first time. Looking forward to tomorrow. The NC alone wouldâve made the series be shelved if it wasnât for the coproduction, if it was a complete Chinese production. They barely show a naked shoulder when it comes to straight series.
