An amazing story and concept bogged down by pacing issues
I will say right off the back that this is one of the most beautifully shot show i have watched this year.The cinematography and set design is unparalleled. The CGI and special effects were great too.
The acting, music, background score, Ost.... Everything was amazing and showed that people have clearly put effort in all those areas.
In acting, I was blown away by Lee Joon. You bet, I wil be watching everything he stars in the future and will be rooting for him. The guy has serious acting chops.
However, the show heavily suffered throughout because of its pacing issue.
They mindlessly dragged a few storylines for it to go no where.
Regardless, I believe the core concept of the show was amazing and had potential to me explores more properly.
All in all... I loved and enjoyed Bulgasal Immortal Souls even if it did drag on in the mid section.

Best Psychological thriller with a touch of heartbreaking Melo!!!
One of the best, most cohesive Kdrama shows ever. This is a brilliant show consisting of all things that make a drama stand out. Good mixture of genres from nail biting suspense thriller to heart wrenching love story. Even the love shown between the two leads is so mature and settled. The chemistry was off the charts. The acting was immaculate. The instensity and thrilling aspect of the show was incredibly paced. I was always at the edge of my seat waiting to see which way the plot turns now.I have become a huge fan of Lee Joon Gi. The way he can express only through his eyes is an art in itself.
Episode 11 absolutely wrecked me. The way he can act!!!
And Moon Chae Won gave the same level of performance. Loved the way she portrayed the main lead character as, vulnerable, badass yet conflicted.
This show has quickly become one of my top watched Kdrama
Edit: I have rewatched this show atleast 3 times and planning on starting a 4th time. Each and evry time I find something new and unique to love. How have we all collectively ignored the thrilling and creepy OST of this show. It's so good!!!
This show is without a single doubt my absolute favourite Kdrama ever!!!
No competition.
Off to watch again and live the thrill.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 10/10 — One of the best fantasy dramas I've watched this year.I went into The East Palace with almost no expectations, and it completely blew me away.
The visual effects are stunning and actually serve the story instead of existing just for spectacle. The plot is filled with suspense, mystery, and twists that kept me invested from beginning to end. Every episode left me wanting to watch "just one more."
The chemistry between the leads is phenomenal—natural, emotional, and believable. But the biggest surprise for me was the King. His performance was outstanding and every scene he appeared in carried so much weight.
The fight choreography is incredibly well done, and there are several moments I'll definitely be rewatching.
What disappoints me most is that this drama isn't getting the attention it deserves. It has excellent writing, fantastic performances, beautiful cinematography, and production quality that rivals much bigger titles.
If you're looking for a fantasy drama with mystery, romance, action, and great acting, don't sleep on The East Palace. It deserves a much larger audience.
An easy 10/10 from me, and I'm already hoping for Season 2.
