So I am on the first episode and am already thinking about dropping it... I read the synopsis and was intrigued,…
I skipped almost the entirety of the beginning and really liked it from episode 6 and after. π Planning on rewatching from the beginning now that I know it's fairly decent in the latter half.
πππ I accidentally refreshed and deleted my episode 3 write up!!!
Lol. I just find it funny that most reality competition shows post-covid still have the cheering sounds even without an audience there.
Alpha group had me smiling from the start. I loved the aura.
1st performing Beta Group Some of the harmonizing was slightly off at times, but I found this performance pretty nice to the ears.
2nd Performing Beta Group This one had my favorite vocals. Well. Except for the rap. But I'm not a big fan of rap to begin with. I love how the judges started talking about biases here. Really shows how well they sold their performance. And that felix comment. Spot on. He really carried the same aura for a moment there, I can see it. But what was with the wardrobe? It made me laugh when they came out.
3rd Performing Beta Group Even before the judge's comments. I wasn't captivated by this performance. I liked their wardrobe though.
4th Performing Beta Group Maybe I'm biased because I like this song so much, but I wasnt sold on the intro vocals. They seemed like they were having fun on the stage though. And this was probably my favorite dance performance.
Surprised that Kade, Boss and Eark didn't make it through. I enjoyed their performances in episode 1. Awww. The farewell speeches making everyone cry π
Time was shell-shocked at being called best beta. LOL. I just can't take these youngster seriously in the big thrones and those jackets on top of their performance clothes. π π WHAT DO YOU MEAN FLUKE HAD THE LEAST AMOUNT OF VOTES AFTER EPISODE 1?!?
Much better visual quality watching it in parts. Gonna be doing this from now on.
Watching N'Lego reacting to the song for the first time was adorable. I hope that I look half as cute when I react to music. lol.
The image quality in the full upload keeps dropping on occasion. Had me questioning my internet connection or something. Not just during the practice sessions (which may or may not have been intentional), but also during interviews.
I don't think watching the full version is worth it period. Because you get a bunch of GMMTV ads in addition to the YouTube ads. I'm patient, but not that patient.
After this episode I'm probably gonna put Just being friendly on repeat. Again. Are they gonna make these versions available on music platforms? I need this version of Just Being Friendly in my collection. ASAP.
"Does anyone want to do the rap part?" "I want Korn to do it." ππππ I can't. RIP N'Korn. The poor sleepy boy was totally volunteered. N'Keen just took absolute charge. Major kudos. At least it sounds like he talked to everyone beforehand. Awww they have such a great dynamic in this team. π₯°
For some reason I thought that the alphas each headed a team of betas. But nope, they make up their own team. Like an A-Team so to speak.
Everybody's enthusiasm over N'Karn nailing the dance was so contagious. I was smiling like an idiot.
I feel so bad for N'Boss. He's struggling and he knows it. π
I also thought we were gonna get a performance each week. But Week 2 was just practicing. I certainly hope we're not supposed to be voting after practice episodes.
What are the odds there will be a step-brother sub-plot this time? There have been more History seasons with one…
Good question. But correct me if I'm wrong, don't all the ones that involve a fantasy plot not have the step-brother romance? HIStory likes to portray controversial and unconventional relationships - and fantasy plots typically cover that scope well enough on their own.
I was expecting parental issues but actual abuse? When Xun'an's mom was like "I'll give you a cushion in case…
Do you mind putting that under a spoiler tag please? But totally agreed. There was no need for this plotline. There's enough already set-up to deal with that deserve more time.
I can theoretically see how this could be resolved in one more episode. But boy is pacing gonna be difficult. And would STILL feel like certain elements were rushed or forgotten. Despite how much I dislike sequels, there are several elements (plus secondary couples) that need more time. Could this be like We Best Love? It has the same director and writer, so maybe?
Mixed feelings about this episode (and the one before tbh).
For one, this is definitely a relationship that doesn't need outside angst. There's a lot here already. This is both of theirs first relationship. As working adults. With a lot of past baggage. There's a lot about their relationship, and being in a relationship period, that they need to figure out and work on, even without the outside angst sources.
But this latest one does make a statement about the culture they are living in. And Taiwan's BLs do tend to carry an air of the rougher side of reality to them (Plus & Minus and Be Loved in House aside, that is).
Also, I get that the cheesy cuteness is meant to balance out these tougher topics and insecurities, and that most first relationships tend to be a bit cheesy (at least in youth anyways), but sometimes it veers slightly into cringe territory. Balance the cheesy with general sweetness. And less bigger gestures, and more small moments.
But again, that could be to establish just how inexperienced and insecure they are. That theyre overcompensating as a result. So if there is a second season, perhaps they'll settle into a more healthy balance??
GagaOOlala only in the following countries (as of a community post on their YT on Dec. 15th): Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
Is this still worth watching even though there will most likely be no season 2 ?
Yes. RamKing and MekBoss are an absolute joy. But RamKing is left at an open ending, as they were going to be the focus of season 2. So either you make up your own ending for them, or track down one of the english fan translations floating around.
Based on the pilot and the description below it, this seems like a time travel second-chance romance with a life on the line and a mission to prove their loved one's innocence. It might hold the interest of fans of "Triage" and "Once Again." I'm also reminded of the Monsta X "Dramarama" music video.

Billy has a fake tattoo to play Nott?
Or as in Billy's character Nott has a fake tattoo to play one of his characters?
