It happens, the mood of the nation can turn at just the wrong moment. It's a fringe topic that was never going to draw 3m viewers even when the national mood was up for it, in my view mass audiences seek exhilarating or uplifting things when they go out to be entertained.

Don't watch this drama if it hurts your sensibility. We don't know the whole story. It's made by artists, he could be a genius for all you know. All great artists are entitled to a degree of eccentricity. Otherwise we'd get dial tones instead of dramas. Such is life.

Netflix has an obsession with dramas about the drama and film industry, such as Behind Every Star and others. They don't do it very well. I'm going to watch with no expectations, maybe it'll be better that way.
