Few months ago I wrote a comment here that song kang chose a wrong drama for his comeback because if it is not…
Either way, it's quite sad and pathetic for someone to purposefully give a drama a low rating just because the production didn't cater to their selfish needs

I’d agree with you, BUT none of the promotional material released by Netflix and the media shows the girl who…
The irony is that I’m a gay man and a BL fan myself, and I’m trying to make it clear that not all of us think this way.

I genuinely wonder how much of this comes down to age and a very limited frame of reference. If someone’s entire entertainment world revolves around BL, it becomes very easy to start treating that small bubble as the standard by which every male relationship on screen must be judged.

There is an enormous amount of television and storytelling outside that space. Male friendship, rivalry, loyalty, affection and emotional intimacy existed long before BL became as globally popular as it is now.

I enjoy BL, but I also enjoy everything else. Maybe the problem is that some younger fans have become so enclosed in one genre that they mistake their own expectations for rules that every production is somehow supposed to follow... Anyway, I give up!

So two male leads appearing prominently in promotional material automatically means audiences are being sold a potential BL?

By that logic, any series or film marketed around two male protagonists could be accused of queerbaiting unless a woman is prominently displayed somewhere to reassure viewers that they are heterosexual.

That makes absolutely no sense.

If Netflix has actually marketed their relationship as romantic or explicitly queer-coded it, then show me. But “the female lead isn't in the promotional material” is not evidence of queerbaiting. That is an assumption you have made because you saw two men together and expected BL.

And as for hoping they don't “ruin” the relationship by introducing romance with the female lead, this is a K-drama. Romance, love triangles, bromance, friendship or none of the above are all perfectly possible. The drama isn't obligated to preserve your preferred interpretation of the male leads' relationship.

At some point, viewers have to distinguish between what the production actually promised and what they personally hoped it would be.

Song Kang in Navillera and Four Hands is a whole different level. Give me him in art/music/dance focused roles…
I need to rewatch Navillera!!

As a BL fan, I find some of the reactions painfully embarrassing.

Not every drama with two attractive men and strong chemistry is BL, and not getting the ship you invented in your head does not automatically make something “queerbaiting”.

Song Kang does not owe anyone a BL role. This drama does not owe you a romance between its male leads. If your entire frame of reference is BL and you cannot cope when a male relationship exists outside that genre, the problem is not the drama.

Ship whoever you want. Have fun with it. But acting personally betrayed because a series refuses to conform to your fantasy is peak fandom entitlement.

Some of you seriously need to broaden your viewing habits and grow up. Beyond pathetic.

whoever wrote the script please die nextedit: stop crying on my replies i was sad and upset i didn't really mean…
Wow. Such hatred towards a scripwriter just because of artistic expression and creating a real story. You must be 12. You clearly have the emotional intelligence of a drain rat. So many of you on this platform! How would you feel if death was wished upon your family? Perhaps you should accept that these sorts of dramas are too complex for you to handle. Rather stick to the fluffy Thai ones. You're a disgrace to the fandom. No one should react like this, just because a story doesn't fit their narrative. Beyond pathetic.

I might sound like a broken record at this point😀… but I REALLY love this show👏🏾.
Same here! It's actually so refreshing, especially because it doesn't follow a Masterchef kind of setup.
