Now I know why Ohm and Nanon got those flowers (last pic). They really nailed that rooftop scene in EP 10 (and earlier scenes)
(If you can’t see (I never shared FB photo here before), it’s reference to a photo of Ohm and Nanon holding flower bouquets wearing the shirts they wore at the end of EP 10)
EP 10 is a highly emotional one, with a roller coaster of emotions that we can easily get carried away from. And with that, we can miss out a lot of important cues and details (or even forget what had taken place in the previous nine episodes).
I really appreciate all who have commented since Friday night to bring out all these important cues, small actions, interactions, contexts of story among other things. This is how we can help one another to understand PatPran story better, the reasons for the things that happened between them, between their families and many more.
Before EP 10, I mentioned how we have to clear our minds and rid our thoughts of too many expectations, theories…
Sharing our thoughts and some criticisms is fine, but note that it’s all our own perceptions that can be biased/flawed.
Most of the time, it’s the language we used, as we may not intend it, but the way some comments were written, it may be misunderstood as attempts to undermine a series/mislead other viewers or on the other hand, misunderstood as fanatical attempts to support a series despite its flaws.
Feel free to share, but remember to be respectful, calm and rational.
(And learn to appreciate the story more from the characters’ perspective and contexts)
Before EP 10, I mentioned how we have to clear our minds and rid our thoughts of too many expectations, theories and speculations.
Let’s enjoy the show and not be overly analytical over certain scenes ok? And again, it is important to see each actions from the perspective and development of each characters.
(That is why it is very important to immerse ourselves and put ourselves in the characters’ shoes as we watch, and rewatch again to gain better insights)
Many people are calling the confession scene bad and cringy and while public confessions are def not my thing…
Context, again it's context. Thanks for highlighting it perfectly as you said above.
For them, who were supposed to hate each other to the bone, to be allowed to love in such a way and express it in such a way, is a phenomenal change and a momentous step forward.
I am happy to learn new things every time from the wonderful people here at Bad Buddy comment section!
Didn't know that public display of affection (PDA) is frowned upon and even not allowed in Thailand. Now I know.
Just as I wrote earlier regarding the context of Pat's part-Chinese family and ancestry, and how it had great influence on the actions of his family that led to the feud, now, this insight on the PDA in Thailand is very significant.
(Context is very important in watching any series/movies and other things, especially when we have to understand the cultural/societal contexts to appreciate certain behaviours/actions. We cannot impose our own understanding, especially the more well-known Western norms to stories that especially take place in the more conservative cultures)
It really made that fist bump scene much more memorable than it already has to many of us. If you notice, they kissed in their own private places, on the rooftop, at Pat's room, in Pran's room, and maybe on the beach later.
No kiss in public does not mean no love, and I think that's yet another significant lesson that Bad Buddy wants to teach us.
As a commentator pointed out, Thailand DOES NOT allow PDA.. I googled.. lol . And it's true . Even foreigner are…
Agreed, Thailand is among several countries that are still relatively more conservative in this matter.
If we consider that context, then the fist bump just as it is so uniquely PatPran trademark, is their symbol of love.
Must love always be shown with a kiss all the time? Kiss will be great, but we shouldn't demand it when the characters themselves are so happy with that fist bump in public. They kiss in their own private corner, and not making PDA in public which as mentioned, isn't allowed.

For those who didn't quite get the proposal and proclamation scene at the Architecture campus:First of all. Pran…
And linking to the ending of EP 6, as some had mentioned it earlier.
Pat: I'll go after you and sweep you off your feet
(Pat declaring how he knew Pran so much, '...but it's changed to Praninlove now.') (You can tell how Pran has totally lost it then. He's playing hard to get, but eventually he gave in!)
Pran: And I'll make you get down on your knees declaring your love for me
(Pat: I like you! I love only you! I'm head over heels for you!)
That fist bump is a nice conclusion of the other fist bump we had back in EP 6.
For those who didn't quite get the proposal and proclamation scene at the Architecture campus:
First of all. Pran was offering his hand, and asking where's the ring before the fist bump with Pat.
That Pat gave his fist instead was an affirmation that he treat Pran as an equal in the relationship, and not the husband-wife dynamics as usual.
(The groom usually wears the ring for the bride first, and that can be seen as Pran was willing to be the 'wife', but Pat symbolically treated him as an equal)
Again, the phrase of taking someone's hand in marriage is usually done when the guy is asking for the girl's father's permission for marriage. In this case, Pat is again the 'groom' while Pran is the supposed 'bride'.
That he didn't take his hand is significant, as it again symbolises Pat and Pran being equal in this relationship.
Let's discuss what was worse:1. 2gether high five2. Bad Buddy ep.10 fist bump
It's taking digs at 2gether high five obviously, and don't forget that Pran was offering his hand, and asking where's the ring before the fist bump.
Did Pat and Pran run away in the novel too? I read that Pat did suggested to but Pran refused to... AND what is…
No, they didn’t run away. Pat ran away from home to escape from his family and the pressure to marry his dad’s chosen bride.
It happened in the wee hours of very early morning, and he called Pran to run away too. But Pran, ever considerate of how doing such a thing would affect their families, told Pat not to run away.
They had sort of a ‘break-up’ over the phone, all so that Pat would not run and endanger himself. It was one of the heartbreaking scenes in the novel.
This thing about family business as mentioned in EP 10 and how Pat's dad inherited it, and why he still stole Pran's mum scholarship despite inheriting the family business, we may never know the full reason behind it. Pat's dad is still wrong in all that he did, in stealing the scholarship from Pran's mum and in instilling that hatred/dislike for each other the way he did to Pat.
But again, in Chinese families especially (in particular in the Chinese diaspora across Southeast Asia) where many Chinese migrants became successful businessmen and entrepreneurs, in the past, many families would have expected their children, especially the eldest to take over the family business. I assume the same case happens to Pat's dad as well.
(It is important because the hard-earned wealth and business ought to be kept close within the family. And contextually this is important because for the Chinese diaspora, that is basically the only way to survive in the world, when in many places they were not allowed to take part in politics or many other fields/industries)
Pat's grandpa must have exerted such a huge pressure on his dad that it led to him doing the unthinkable (not that I absolved the dad for his mistake, what he did was still wrong, but I want to offer an insight to his action). And part of this upbringing unfortunately then passed on to Pat as well.
(I am very fortunate that despite my own family having a successful business, and my own dad taking over the family business from my grandpa, but my dad never forced me to take over the business even at the slightest. My parents were open-minded and basically allowed their children to do whatever we wanted, myself included. Otherwise, as the eldest son, I myself would have been under immense pressure like Pat's dad too.)

This is a great fanmade cut video that I found recently for sharing here.
Lovely edit and added words. I also like how it was titled 'Pat x Pran rewriting the Romeo Juliet Trope'

It's always the same people who are still not convinced of the quality of Bad Buddy and made the comments, if you noticed.
Not that it's wrong. It's perfectly ok to do so. But again, it has to be well-substantiated to make a convincing argument otherwise.
All that does not mean that it's not well-liked.
Happy that they finally had their hotpot, just to themselves!
