it had potential and can't deliver until too late
i was so stoked when i heard about the premise and saw some teaser or trailer for the show. i am 5 episodes in at the writing of this review.waste of time. i have started scrubbing through the episodes so the 50 minute ordeal takes maybe 10. after all time is the most precious resource any of us have. why am i even still watching? i wanna be kind and give it a chance. a generous one cause some GL are just cursed and can't find their footing until later. here's the list of problems: wooden acting, no chemistry, no story progression, no cohesion, the mother traumas so far don't add anything but slow things down, the main characters have no compelling motivation. shouldn't halfway through be any love established between the leads?
UPDATE: somehow for some reason i watched more episodes. overall not much better but there were a total of 3 out 10 episodes where i didn't fast forward most of it. so i increased the rating. the main character actress has good acting moments later in the show

Amazing intricate show with solid acting
Pluto is the best show out of Thailand I've ever seen. Every episode was better than the one before. Predominantly for the main couple and the happenings around them. The side couple(s) were lackluster. I'll forever be in love with the show though. Too bad it wobbled and didn't stick the landing in the perfect way all previous episodes delivered. Still a solid finale. Only the second Thai gl getting a 10/10 from me. don't know how often I've rewatched it already. It teaches you about how a kind person can still be someone's villain, how short sighted reactions are bad for long term plans, how planning your happiness needs to involve others. It also emptied my wallet because the merch is great.
The product placement and the MV in the middle of an ep were hilarious.

could be saved with re-edits
I'm gonna try to avoid spoilers. Good points first: LM is a phenomenal actress. Sonya isn't far behind. Lilly and Belle have great potential.onto the rest:
The sound engineers seem to not trust the actors and pasted such loud dramatic music over every scene that i contemplated watching on mute. At times it felt like music and show are two different genres- telenovela v serious drama.
standing close in an elevator isn't tension. and kissing someone uninvited in a bathroom is anything but romantic. forced closeness isn't hot.
The father stories didn't add anything and could have been reduced to two moments of them saying "this project is important".
The director was meddling too much with LMSY physical acting. They have a natural chemistry and way to interact. and i am not just talking about intimate scenes. When LMSY walk around an event the way they move in sync and hold hands is beautiful. Sure in the beginning of the show their characters can't be close like old friends. Whoever told them to move a certain way or tone things down did them an injustice.
The side couple was done dirty. if you invent a relationship that wasn't in the source material you have to put some serious work in. This one was messy, full of holes and not fleshed out. Yam does some things which never get fully addressed. So the relationship doesn't feel cemented or her character serious enough in her feelings toward G.
Product placement... it's part of any GL. it's existence doesn't bother me. however in the final episode something horrible happens and almost immediately after they advertise some face cream. can't get more tone deaf than that
giving 5.5 because it wasn't bad enough to drop

solid feel good with depth
I celebrated MilkLove getting to play adults and they did an amazing job. Both delivered solid acting. true drama talents but great at lighter stuff. i appreciated how Wan's grief was handled. and where Maewnam was coming from. Some social commentary peppered throughout keeps emphasizing the smart writing. People have their own opinions on main and side couple screen time and I won't get into it. both arcs are valid. no episode 7 or finale curse either. what a relief. very solid show that made me smile a lot. can recommend!!Was this review helpful to you?

if it wasn't for the acting talent
oh boy, we waited over a year for a show with tons of promise and a hell of a cast. the novel was meh... but they often are. then the show was nothing like the novel and less than meh.i would have dropped it if it wasn't for the amazing acting.
the story was inconsistent: was Bambi a brat, selfish, traumatized, confused...? well yes, depending on which episode you watched. Min had occasional amnesia and a case of character assassination. you can't leave an abusive relationship just to expect a yes woman as your next partner. if only Mim's character had a story and some backbone there could have been so much to their storyline. I'll never get over the whiplash the transition from ep 8 to 9 gave me when it comes to ShashaGorya. but Shasha has the best story out of all the characters.
PLEASE can someone let GMMTV and their partners know that audio quality is important?! I don't wanna hear blown out voices and yelling or the crinkling of someone's shirt.
The amazing dramatic scenes (Shasha adressing abuse or Bambi's breakdown) never amounted to anything and got wiped away immediately, sometimes within seconds.
you can tell they switched the writing team around halfway.
all the actors were phenomenal. some of the intimate scenes, when not just implied, were well done, others not so much cause the camera angle was off (looking you, at hand under shirt while on vacation)
I'm grateful to have this but the entire production team needs upskilling and to never touch gl again. harsh I know
but no one can say that the girls didn't give their all. many friendships formed due to this series. let's celebrate that
