They were talking about how his mortal body is housing the spirit core of YunXi. I'm assuming that's where his supernatural powers come from. I think humans use spells and formations to combat spirits.

I'm pretty sure LuYan is a human. It mentioned he was a human general. The only way I can think of that they even stood somewhat of a chance is if humans also possessed powers. Maybe Inner Strength? Or some other ways to harness magic?
Ok I just started but I'm confused how humans were even a match for the spirit race in the first place. Spirit race has supernatural powers but humans don't.
A couple minutes into the first episode and I have a feeling this will have a somewhat similar ending as Fairyland Lovers... where ML will lose his powers and FL, I think she did too but I'm not too sure.

I wonder if this will be like a Rooftop Prince situation. Where the modern version is in fact his reincarnation and will "wake up" with memories of both lives intact?
