Will this have a happy ending??
yeah... they will have a happy ending without loose ends. That's why a lot is happening and some kind of fast-paced that if you don't read the novel you can't connect with some of the characters.

its not really about the dead aunt it just that her aunt discovered a lot of truths and betrayals about the past that affecting their present and together they will uncover it one by one (hence we have the title)

a little confused... why does the elder's trap (or button thing?) lead into the underground palace? I feel like…
Amm. They don't really know where the underground leads to, they just know that if their prisoners fall down there they can't get out (since the secret code only known by louying valley). In the novel its was really deep and big maze... and the room its not really that beautiful with full grown tress and plants, but its sounded by treasures, gems, silks and scriptures about the past.

The novel was sooo good but the editing is sooo bad 😭. I feel like watching a timelapse with parts cut out.
Heyyyy, same feeling 😭. Like I still watched it cause I really like the novel and I want to have a proper visualization to the story. The acting and the cinematography is good, also with the backdrop settings and props but they really f*ck up the editing on telling the story 😭 that's why a lot of new audience doesn't feel connected to it and don't understand it.

Does Mu Qingyan ever get cured/detoxified in the novel? And is his mother horrible traitor there too? Thanks.
Amm, they really change the ML's poisoned plot where it should already 70-80% cured while they are in Qingque sect (idk if it the correct name), like before they go to snowy mountain cause he stayed there longer than the FL, like there's a 1 year gap before they 1st meet and he was heavy bullied since he was so weak of the poisoned. And they don't even show this part that after getting his original power back (30%) he got back to his bullies and punished them for days - this part is so satisfying 😭. While the case of his mother, she doesn't love the ML even a little bit, to the moment he was born and up until there's a chance for him to get the throne. Like after she gave birth to the ML she abandoned him, let him eat like a dog, so for 5 years, he doesn't know how to read, write, talk, and he was so malnourished before his dad finds him that's why he doesn't trust his mom after that. She was so selfish, a cheater, liar, and she betrayed the ML's dad multiple times. She was the one who poisoned them both (ML and his dad), and she only cares about the power.

But his dad regret for not meeting her aunt sooner 😭
Yeah, their first and last meeting really meaningful for Mu Qingyan's dad, its like he just found one person he can feel connected to (being righteous and all) and even though his dad lives in isolation, because Ne Hengcheng wanted him away from the throne, Mu Qingyan knows that his dad wanted to explore the world but he can't go since he need to take care of his son. So, after their meeting he's waiting for her to come back and to hear her stories but later on he was slowly poisoned to death by Mu Qingyan's mom. (I forget if his dad really love his mom or just feel gratitude to her - I just remember that their relationship was just a scheme of Ne Hengcheng)

Trueee as a novel reader this is also my complain😭 (alongside with their age). At least here I think they will add more romantic scenes with them and not limited to what is said with the novel🤞

ofcourse Japanese version. This one is masterpiece
agree... after watching the Korean ver., my feelings is slightly different when I 1st watch the Japanese. Like yeah the Korean give more plot to the ML background story and I like the last line of the FL in the K version. But the Japanese hits you more pain, and the aesthetic and camera tones more likely a dream, soft colors, while in K version is more on natural and more warmer.
