Didn't think it'll hurt me this much but it did. Hands down personally one of the most saddest dramas I've watched. Maybe it was due to the fact I was emotionally involved to all the characters in the drama but this is my #1 saddest drama ever.
Yes LCY was a complete jerk 85% of the story but he loved XF. He just couldn't prioritize her over his revenge and XF took the last step which was to help her country and to stop LCY. At least he kept his promise to her and lived on. Even while I'm writing this I can feel my heart constricting :'(
Low-key hoping for the other ending the directors promised us. Please give us a nice one so our hearts can be mended. God I should never be so attached to dramas.
Kudos to Chen Xing Xu and Peng Xiao Ran for the amazing acting. They were brilliant and both of them managed to capture the whole screen with their acting. Totally talented pair. hope they will receive the due popularity.

About the actors. Yes they should be appreciated for the role reversal from their real lives. It's really funny when watching their interviews and BTS cuz CXX is such a playful cutie and PXR is like the older sister looking after him XD

I honestly don't know. I want a tragedy for LCY but my heart aches for XF. They both could have lived happy lives but they chose to always take decisions in rather a selfish manner which have made them arrive at this sad situation. In my opinion even XF is taking a selfish route in a small manner. Yes she has been hurt but then again in a way I wish she was stronger and she took revenge in a stronger way (Not asking to kill him more like she lived away from him happily, then again she wasn't brought up that way either) but these are all my delusional thoughts XD cuz I low-key want BOTH OF THEM to get away from the palace and live happily.
Being a huuuuuge fan of this series I am so happy seeing this article. honestly I was sad that more people didn't appreciate this cuz personally I feel this is much better than other drama consecutively siring such as The Legends (Don't get me wrong I like it too and am watching it too but personally I like this better in terms of plot, acting and production value)
One thing I like to point out is you have told that after losing their memories Li Cheng Yin has a woman he loves already. I do not know if you've mentioned it not to give out spoilers or anything but as I understood he never loved Zhao Sese and only used him. All through his life LCY only loved Xiao Feng. It is also mentioned by the Buddhist monk they meet at the temple when they go undercover that their lives are romantically linked for three lives. Also it's mentioned (subtly) at the end of the novel also that he only loved XF his whole life, after all the tragedies happened also he waits for her.
Also another thing I would like to add, a small suggestion actually. You could have mentioned the song that XF sings to LCY during their date during the Chinese Valentine's Day kinda festival when they go rowing. Also a sadder version is sung during the time after their wedding where XF waits outside while LCY gets drunk and goes to ZSS. It is crucial to the story and also very beautiful. Then again it would give spoilers too.
All in all I want to say is you've done an AMAZING job here. I simply loved reading your article. This is without doubt one of my favorite articles I've read on MDL. Totally loved it. Agreed. I loved Because of Meeting You. You could see the main couple's sizzling romance and their acting was on point. Every single person. Even the little kid. I'm still trying to get around the FL's bad acting in this one and I feel like this role is not suiting Zhang Min En either. I loved him in all his previous works even though he was a supporting character in many and his acting in Tientsin Mystic was beyond great. Here I feel like they've wasted a good actor on a really really cliche plot. I don't know about Destiny's Love either cuz it seems cliche too which is too bad cuz his previous work were all of interesting and engaging scripts.
Still I'm planning on giving this drama at least 10 episodes before dropping. Only watched 2 so far and really cringed through both of them. From CGI to acting it's bad :/

Well I am too hooked on Goodbye My Princess to stop it but maybe wait till it finishes to go on XD It's still one of my favs. I've actually heard so much about Story of Yanxi Palace but never got around to watch it. Is it good? For me the ML seemed too old which was one of the biggest reasons I didn't start it. Also this sure captures your attention but as far as all the Chinese dramas, just ignore the really really bad CGI XD

PS- Started this cuz Goodbye my Princess wasn't getting subbed faster. Now I've got two dramas I'm seriously hooked on. Hopefully this one won't give me the serious headache I am getting from wanting to hit Li Cheng Yin in the head with a huge rock.
When did or what episode did Li Cheng Yin memories about XioFeng return?
According to the book his memories return at the very end. After XF commits suicide. So until he looses her he won’t know. Then he lives his life wanting her for which she’ll never return. If you see the song that is played in Ep 25 I think when he gets drunk and goes and XF is just standing outside in her wedding garments, tells the whole story of him after the death of XF. The lyrics were penned by the author and the fox mentioned in it is the prince (which is depicted earlier also when XF dreams of the fox caught in the trap which later turns into an image of the prince). The shepherd girl in the song is XF. The fox goes to the sand dunes and waits for the shepherd girl but at last the fox can’t stay anymore and he goes. Which means that the prince goes to the place that XF commits suicide (but she’ll never come back cuz she’s dead) and everyday watches but after 20-30 years later he finally commits suicide at the same place she did. This is according to the book but I don’t know how it’ll be in the drama as it has two endings and also it showed XF slicing her neck so most probably she won’t die the same way she did in the book which wasn’t jumping to her death. The trailer showed that too but most probably she survives that cuz in the book first she survives cuz Ah Du visions her and dies instead and XF stabs herself to death afterwards. But there is a big chance all of this is changed XD

Ha ha same here. I went into it on an impulse thinking it’ll be like those other cutesy web dramas but I wasn’t expecting such a roller coaster of emotions. I’ve never been so invested in a Chinese drama (or any drama as a matter fact) since A Love So beautiful. Also for the crown prince. He’s just after the throne. That was his ultimate goal but unfortunately along the way he fall in love with XiaoFeng. Not once but twice. One thing is for sure. He only love XF. It’s just he has a really bad of way of showing it XD he can’t express his feelings publicly cuz then XF will be everyone’s target. So his mood swings look worse than a pregnant lady’s XD
Marcus Sim did a clip on YouTube talking about casting for this drama. They were waiting for a drama "goddess"…
They are both amazing actors. The charisma that CXX gives off as the Li Cheng Yin is amazing and PXR is simply gorgeous. More than anything they are hidden gems in acting. They give their 100%
