I can think of a few dramas where that hasn't happened - doesn't mean they didn't love each other though. One and Only and TTEOTM are the classic Bailu dramas I can think of where this happened 🤔

English movies - I have Sliding Doors Scenario 1 stuck in my head where they get together but don't end up together - if that makes any sense!

Fake news in Weibo is real don't you know 🙄 I'm surprised they wanted Bai Lu for this role, knowing how low the hate-dom for her can spread and sometimes overshadow a great production. I hope the drama does well to overcome this type of shite.

It's your point of view of course and you don't have to watch the drama but I'm confused why the subplot of one character is stopping you watching this unless you've actually read the novel and are feeling put off that drama has altered the book drastically.

Ma Si Yi the character appears to be the main lead purely in appearance as she is mixed race, very pretty and stands out. I'm sure the actress will be a key main lead one day if you follow her dramas but in this, she is one of a few leads.

This isn't a romance drama and its grounds lie in the early friendship ties and critically (some) damaging families.

I guess compared to Ma Siyi she definitely doesn't look that pretty, but the tomboy element was so real I was seeing a ship every time both FLs were onscreen together 😆

But yes I should stop hating on haters and enjoy the real drama instead. ☺️ I do feel there's a lot of expectationwhich I'm trying to rein in as I thought this drama would air a year ago!

Oh there a lot of Chinese-English reviewers who flame Bailu and other idol actors for trivial things - from outliers in dramas to their dresses on awards night. Honestly haven't come across one that depicts her in any good light but I expect it's what earn clicks. So yeah I feel sorry for her, and the cherry on top is that these trashing her are women!

No problem enjoy! I was going to edit my comment when you replied - One and Only is a historical drama and has a modern drama sequel Forever and Ever if wanted to follow that one...both are good but O&O being the prequel is usually my first recc!

I expect it to be low and those youtube reviewers to trash it. But I rather viewers not get hung up on ratings and discuss the drama instead.

Oh seems you may like Ordinary Greatness that she acts in as well as it's a realism drama - less popular than idol drama but it has bagged a number of awards. It's what led to her casting in Northward.
