If you didn’t like the korean version I really recommend you to try this one! Surprised me positively!
First, both main leads are way better than the korean version. ML is a little arrogant in the beginning but he grows fast in the story. It doesn't take long for us to accept him. For me he was more sweet. FML is also likeable, especially because the actress is good, she doesn’t overreact too much (which I liked because in the k-version the actress is just the worst). Also, maybe an unpopular opinion but SML is more likeable here. For me he was too much of a dork and crazy in the k-version. Here he still is a little crazy but he doesn’t overreact in an annoying way.
The main couple has some cute scenes and they have a good chemistry together. The end was a little rushed but satisfying. I think the only thing I didn’t liked that much was the SML ending, it was a little bittersweet. 😭
In general I think this version is way better than the korean one! 10 episodes was the best (maybe with more only 1 to close things nicely) but I’m satisfied.
PS: It’s funny how Kento is always playing this kind of tsundere character 😂 but I really enjoyed him here! He was cute! I also liked FML a lot! Good actress.
SML is a little annoying and at least for now he has no resonable purpose to be in the story (only to be between the 2 main leads) but I think he will become fun later because he do have some cute moments, especially in EP2, his smile is really cute.
I’m loving FL btw! She’s really easy to like. I thought ML would be the too arrogant type but i’m glad he isn’t. He’s actually the serious, introvert type with a mature side, so yeah i’m also liking him. He and FL are a great pairing. Really different from each other but they match.
I’m curious to see how the story will go and as there’s a lot of secondary characters I hope a lot of couples will be formed.
I didn’t want to watch Hana Kimi because I watched the korean version (To the Beautiful You) and I had the biggest 2nd lead syndrome ever but I decided to start this version for Oguri Shun. Making comparatives between the two versions, this one is definitely better than the korean version. To the beautiful you had a lot of dramatic scenes that it was really unnecessary and here we have more focus on the boys in the school and it’s more like a fun and comic drama. So yeah I liked this one better.
The only thing is that I still had the biggest 2nd lead syndrome ever. I had to force myself to like Sano because for me he was just a meh character with only a few scenes that I really liked. I didn’t hate him only because the actor was Oguri Shun so he made the character more attractive to me. Of course it’s not Oguri’s fault, he’s a good actor and I love him, it’s just that the character isn’t that good. Usually I love the tsundere type but this one didn’t worked well for me lol
I can't say I shipped wrong tho because I think the main characters fit each other, but it’s clear that Nakatsu shined more. The actor is excellent and made the character even more fun. He ended up standing out more for bringing everything I like in a character: he's clumsy, cute, fun, sincere and a good friend. I can't help but feel a bitter taste seeing Nakatsu being ignored in the end.
But well in general, until now, I think that all actors were fine in their characters, especially those who had a more comic content. When I finish I’ll come back and talk about my final thoughts.
Japan is really good with slice of lifes, this one just become one of my favs Jdramas! Every character is just…
The only thing I wished it was made differently is how about everyone just went to separate ways. I mean, I know they had to move out but it looked like all these friends that Nagi made just ended there and the only person that still was on her side was Sakamato-san. Idk I just wished we could have seen one scene showing that all of them still maintain contact with each other :( but I guess the idea of the drama was to show how some people are important for our grown and not necessarily they will be part of our lifes forever. Somethings are really temporary.
PS: Also I liked that she chose herself but I would love if she would’ve choose Gon too 😭
Japan is really good with slice of lifes, this one just become one of my favs Jdramas! Every character is just so good and all of them were important to the main lead grown. They also grown a lot in the process. I read some comments about Shinji x Gon-san and particularly I prefered Gon. For me he was the sweetest and a good person to be around. No spoiler but the end was really the most realistic one. I would’ve done differently but I liked. Only one thing bothered me, I will speak more below.
But if you’re thinking about starting this drama I definitely recommend! The main theme is about personal love and grown. You won’t regret.
OST is very good, it just gives you this nostalgic feeling that makes you feel like you’re inside the story. Both main leads have a really good chemistry together too and we can really feel their emotions but be prepared, althought the drama is charming, it’s a rollercoster. Teppei is the worst boyfriend ever (ik he’s human and can make mistakes but it’s too much), and Riko doesn’t know what space is. I pityed her later in the story but she was too possessive and annoying with Teppei. I expected more about the ending as well.
In general, a nice classic story but not the best work for Kimura. 7/10
FL is really annoying, I know she’s like this because of her past but the way she treats ML is just too much sometimes. But I like how things are different here. We have a strong FL who can be annoying and cold, and a ML who is sweet and caring. Also the children here are just adorable. I’m only in EP5 tho. Let’s see how things will turn up later.
Ok, based on what the room leader said, BM is definitely more than one person, more like a corporation. But I don’t think the room leader is BM itself. I’m guessing that the leader and the person who create the name BM is Jerry. I mean ok, he actually could be just a person helping BM but he survived just for that? We can see that he’s someone important based on the call he received so the writers is hiding everything about him just to make him only a BM’s right hand? I mean, it would have 0 impact to introduce him only as BM’s helper after introducing the BM itself (if it’s really the room leader). So I think Jerry being BM is more plausible. But, I do think Changho’s friend is also suspect. He can actually be BM itself or just like the others, a person who is only helping BM.
If we think about it, I think BM is more like a bunch of people who wants revenge.
wow....they say channgyu and eunchae ain't handsome enough?? wah.....I don't get those people at all, sorry :))
No no, I didn’t say they said this. It’s just me who thinks this way as they’re always talking about looks and always choosing the same guys every week.
I don't think it's that they are not considered cute or good-looking enough. Remember in the first episode Changyu…
It makes sense. But we can also say it’s about looks because Changmin isn’t the only “masculine” men in the house. I think that his appearance and his height really gains attention.
Liking until now! Jongsuk is killing and his scenes in jail are my favorites. Yoona’s character is also really nice. Talking about BM, for me we have 3 big suspects for now:
- Jerry: I wasn’t thinking about him before but now it really make sense. Could he be only a stupid character that helps ML? Yeah. But I don’t know…the rat tattoo, the loyalty to BM..everything about him is a little off. The thing is, if it’s him how he put the money in the wall? I think he probably knows someone close to ML (maybe Soon Tae?) - Soon Tae or FML’s father: something about them seem off as well. And for the money to be found in the walls, it must be someone close enough to ML to put there and no one realize so I think it can be one of them or they helped BM.
Or…it can be someone else like maybe one of the guards? Because I think it can be someone who is in jail as well. I know we have some theories about ML being the BM but I really doubt. I mean, I would LOVE if it was him but his romance with FML make me think otherwise. If he is the BM, his romance with her would literally end because I don’t think she could ever forgive him for this. So yeah, I doubt he’s the BM.
Changmin got most of votes..again. Is this Single’s Inferno? lol I understand that Changmin can really be attractive but it’s becoming boring at this point because seems like they’re choosing him only for his looks. I know it’s difficult to get to know someone when they have little time but it’s becoming dull for us as viewers. The only one who I think it was right to call him was Jeonghyeon. Both of them calling each other was the only right thing in the whole episode. I just don’t understand why Hyeokjun called him. Poor Hyeon. Changyu called Seonyul probably because he don’t have other person to call. He was the only one who he spend most time with. Same as Eunchae with Hyeokjun. But ugh it’s hard to watch these cute guys being ignored (Eunchae and Changyu) over and over again only because they aren’t handsome enough. I’m tired of people always looking for appearance in these dating shows. And it’s even worse for me because i’m most attached to the ignored ones. 😭 I was expecting Jeongho to be a little different because he said first he didn’t care about looks but he end up being the same as others. I still like him but yeah, I expected something different.
My favorites in the house are the same as before: Changyu, Eunchae. I also like Hyeon and Jeongho. Of course I have nothing against the others.
EP2 is waay better than EP1! Jongsuk’s scenes in jail were so good. I think this drama will be the hardest one for him in terms of acting but he’s nailing like usual. It’s funny how this drama remind me of others such as Flower of Evil (the couple scenes), Defendant (jail scenes and the whole being frammed thing and having to prove his innocence) and Vagabond (corruption theme and vibes in general). Don’t know if this Vagabond vibes is good tho as I didn’t like this drama and it’s from the same screenwriter lol
PS: Would be so good if Jongsuk’s character was really the Big Mouse but the drama would be too similar to Mouse lol
Watched EP1 and I don’t know if I liked or not but I think it can be really good in the next episodes, especially the jail scenes. I just don’t know if the plot will be good enough later as well but i’m hoping so. I think some things seemed forced in this ep, Jongsuk’s character for example was too dumb, but i’m happy he will wake up soon. Yoona’s character is nice, I like her. I can’t say I like her acting tho, idk why but looks stiff in some scenes. But I’ll close an eye for this because I like her lol Her chemistry with Jongsuk was good too.
So yeah, I think the first EP1 was kind ok. But the next episodes seems promising. I got to say tho, Jongsuk being main lead is the mainly reason I started this because Big Mouth being an MBC drama, with Vagabond’s screenwriter really made me think “oh god”. But i’m putting my faith on him because he never chose a main role that I didn’t like. But let’s see.
I’m already seeing that Changyu and Eunchae will end with no match. Everyone in this house cares for visuals and unfortunately it seems like no one finds them handsome. I know this is personal preference but it really hurts that these cute and nice guys might end up alone because they weren’t handsome enough. God, looks like i’m watching Single’s Inferno all over again.
I’m seeing a lot of comments of people saying they are uncomfortable with the show or saying the show stereotypes autistic people, and well, while I agree a little because characters like the main lead is quite common to see in this theme, I still think the drama talks about a lot of important topics. Of course the drama it’s not perfect, but i’m liking so far. I like how they show that they are capable of having jobs and relationships (contrary to what many people think).
