đ Agreed 100%. After reading everything, for me it was like we were seeing Yi-San and Doek-Im onscreen not two actors playing a character. They were that good. Junho outdid himself as expected and embodied Yi-San.
scene on the bridge with deok im waving good by to herself was an add-on. and what a great one it was, so poignant.…
I balled my eyes out at that scene. She chose San and said goodbye to herself. I know deep down he had to have known her true feelings when he knew her character so well. Their push/pull stubbornness till the end.
I donât think I can rewatch the drama anymore without thinking about the end. Itâs heartbreaking seeing the…
Probably to stick with the novel as much as possible so they played it off as him pretending to forget? And probably time as well since they were limited in episodes.
I love that palace life for these women wasnât sugar coated. I think people who wondered why Doek-Im resisted…
Being King in Joseon was no joke. Dealing with those factions would age anyone. I saw the comments about Junhoâs beard but at least they stopped at the scraggly beardâŠaccording to the Talking Cupboard, Yi-San had alcohol weight (beer belly), greying hair and missing teeth. đđ€Ł. Apparently Doek-Im got the handsome young Yi-San. He worked and drank so hard after Doek-Imâs death, it hit him physically so itâs no wonder he died young.

Thatâs the only part I didnât like about the novel version, the whole he âalmost forgot herâ or it had been years since he went to her residence or the CP residence since historically he practically moved into the CP residence and was always at her residence even after his new son was born. The only thing he stopped doing out of respect for his new son was the visits to their graves.
I like how the queen dowager wasnât reduced to a villain (for some reason people believe that she poisoned Jeongjo),…
From what I read, that poisoning theory had to due with him pointing and saying the name of her palace on his deathbed. They also werenât getting along at that time like these last few episodes. He was supposedly recovering but died all of a sudden so that theory came about. đ€·đ»ââïž
the palace as the gilded cage it is, and its impact on the key women shown was something extraordinary, too. i…
I love that palace life for these women wasnât sugar coated. I think people who wondered why Doek-Im resisted for so long finally understood a little bit after these two episodes. Imagine the constraints you had to live underâŠluxurious prison was a great description.

Just finished. đđđđđ through both episodes like some lunatic. I felt bad for him but at the same time understood why she was like that. Heâs so attached to her that it would be harder to move on and as King, he had to move on. Similar to their fight and separation in ep15. đ But Iâm also glad Court Lady Seo didnât listen to her either. She was the only one who knew how deep in love the two were. The others kinda knew since she said it but Court Lady Seo went through it with both of them. They were both stubborn as ever to the end. Doek-Im with her bravado and Yi-San with his pride.
I will have to say that I love her and Tae-ho. Court Lady Seo reminds me of a mixture between Mrs. Potts and the fairies from Sleeping Beuaty in ep16/17 đ And when she looked at Tae-ho in that scene in the courtyard during the Queen Dowagerâs visit, she was likeâŠI know youâre a good person but Bless Your Heart. đ
I donât know whatâs the problem of Deok ImI would have jumped in the first place if a man is loving me this…
Palace life is not rainbows and sunshine for a concubine of the lower classes and even worse sometimes when you have the Kingâs love. Doek-Im having grown up there knows. YeongJo had a hard time because of the origins of his mother, Jeongjo had a hard time because of his father. If she gave birth to a son, there could be hard times for him, especially if the other concubine or the Queen gave birth to a son too since theyâre of higher class. Doek-Im knows all this and thinks a lot. Also, no one knew the strict by the books King really did love her this much. We can see it all as the audience but itâs different living in the unknown walking on eggshells because technically your life isnât worth as much in the palace to anyone else but the King. Thatâs just my way of understanding it from her POV đ
