I heard from someone living in SK that it is quite a âbig thingâ in Korean culture to avoid head on confrontations and rather read between the lines, and subtly signal everything rather than just say it (for example if someone doesnât want to hang out with another person anymore, instead of saying it theyâll pretend to be busy and decline invitations for as long as the other person doesnât get the message - thatâs the example they used). So, is the predisposition to misunderstandings is kind of rooted in culture? I donât know. Of course it doesnât mean that all of Korean people are like that.
