Yep. When mom truly loves her child, she will do everything she can to make sure the child is not harmed. I find it hard to believe she couldn’t send someone there just to check up on her every once in a while? Like she looked so powerful on her first scene and has at least two very loyal servants. Make it make sense.

I am not a fan either. Couldn’t she have “protected” her by actually protecting her? Send her to someone trustworthy, keep tabs on her, send a trusted nanny to live near her (even if she’s a few houses away), etc? They literally dumped an infant to the worst possible person in the world + his wife.
